Brian “Spanky” Kendrick gave notice to WWE officials last night at the SmackDown taping that it would be his final night with the company due to the lack of push that he has received.

Kendrick requested to be released yesterday at 4 pm at the SmackDown tapings because he wanted to go back to ZERO-ONE in Japan, where he had been working under the ring name Leonardo Spanky. WWE had scheduled him to work the taping with Paul London for Velocity against Akio and Sakoda, but once he was granted his release, the company booked London in a dark match against Akio.

ZERO-ONE has Kendrick scheduled and he will make his return there shortly. Also coming as excellent news, Kendrick has not “burned his bridges” with WWE, as the latest coming from company officials is that he handled himself in a very professional manner and the door is always opened for a return down the road.
