| rajah.com Mailbag -By Kayfabe and Rajah |
Alright, I have re-opened the Mailbag section with the help of two individuals, Kayfabe and Grandpa. Hopefully, it will work out better this time, as the above individuals will handle the great BULK of the emails.
Here are the steps to take if you like your question answered in the Mailbag section:
1. Please check to see that your question(s) have not been answered on any other sections of the page. Take great note of the FAQ Part I and FAQ Part II as well as the mailbag archives at the bottom of the page. .
2. Send a legibly written question or comment to mailbag@rajah.com. Please limit yourself to only one question per person per email. This allows us to update the mailbag more frequently.
3. ALL email sent there may potentially be included in the Mailbag. If you do not want your response posted, do NOT send it there!
4. If a name is included, I will post it along with the email. If you do not want your name published, do NOT write it!
5. Remember, it is impossible that every email I receive get posted on this page. Only the best and most popular questions/comments will likely make it on.
6. Also remember, that questions will be answered by either Kayfabe or Rajah, so any personal remarks should be addressed accordingly. The following color scheme will be used:Rajah - GREEN
Kayfabe - YELLOW

XFL.
Quite simply the most exciting thing I have heard since becoming a wrestling fan less than a year ago. You see...before I learned to love the glory of WWF wrestling all I really had was pro football to look to for hard hitting, action packed entertainment. And ever since my fave team the Steelers took a nosedive (hopefully things will begin the long ascent upwards next season)the NFL has become even more difficult to watch. Now I have something to look forward to. I can just see it. A new league with fresh teams...fresh faces (and I would assume some familiar ones) all to be experienced for the first time. I am just excited to know that i will be there for the start of something...well...huge.
And that is where things get messy. I like most other fans of the WWF have readily dismissed the early negative reviews this yet to be formed league has already gotten. While most can be chalked up to reporters wanting to find something to pick on daily to boost ratings...some have legitimate points. I mean...come on...there is only one popular football league...and there is a reason for that.
I think I might have a solution to all these problems. First off...the Titan has already done the most intelligent thing and basically align itself publicly with the NFL as an offseason alternative rather than a head to head matchup. This is key. Under no circumstances can the XFL draw battle lines with the NFL. I do not care how much I love the WWF...it would lose. Bad.
Second off...the XFL has to stick to the basic tried and true formula of the NFL. While adding its own quirks to the mix...make sure not to stray from the formula placed with the game itself. It has already said it would be a 100 yd. field...so I am hoping nothing else really changes. Don't go arena football on us. Yeah it has its own bit of interest...it takes out the suspense of two minute drills where the qb has to go to the sideline and yada yada yada... Now it cna't be afraid to take rules away...like the rules against showboating. Make the celebration come back to football. All the popular pro football videogames make a point of including them even though they are illegal in real life...so they must have a certain degree of popularity.
Next...don't make this into WWF plays football. No storylines please. Let the action on the field be the soap opera. Let the last minute touchdowns be the selling point and not the promo starting QB John Doe made before the game. As we all know...life in pro football is interesting enough without the existence of plot. If what is being said about mics in the huddles and cameras in the dressing room are true...then that'll be enough to develop a thicker plot above the NFL.
Also...get a couple big names in coaches and players. There are a lot of out of work players and coaches that would love the idea of being involved in a new league. A couple names...Mike Ditka...he just got fired and says he'll never work NFL again. Promise him a hard hitting..back to basics type football league...and I'm sure he'll be more than happy to helm a team. Greg Lloyd...a former Steeler. Since being injured and never returning to true form he is a great candidate for a talented player looking to redeem himself. You aren't going to steal anyone from the NFL so you might as well go for those who just barely didn't make it and still have some years left.
Lastly...make a smooth presentation of it. If we're talking football of the glory days...make it look that way. Don't crowd the screen with stupid graphics. Let the game itself be the main attraction. Don't get overbearing announcers. Get announcers who know football and can analyze without overdoing it like John Madden. Make some real nice lead-ins that hype the game with that symphonic music and highlight reel footage. Remember...a mediocre overdone style can ruin a nicely put together league.
Remember...even the NFL took awhile to catch on...so if the XFL is willing to go through rough spots...true fans of the sport like you and me have the ability to keep it afloat until its ultimate greatness or lameness shines through and the final verdict is passed. Who knows? The day-after-the-superbowl blues may become a thing of the past as viewers find that they can find a nice choice for picking up the slack of boring offseasons.
In conclusion...let the game sell itself...and don't become overrun with the idea of creating a pro football revolution because it won't happen. Form under the pretense that this is not the NFL, but only a fresh exciting alternative to offseason blues.
Very well said. I'm willing to give the XFL a chance. Why won't everyone else?

Just a quick question to settle a bet between my girlfriend and I.
Can anyone remember if "The Mounties" music was a remixed version of "In The
Navy" by the Village People? Cheers
I assume you're referring to the Quebecers who were "Not the Mounties" but did however enforce the law. Uh, off the top of my head, I can't exactly remember what the theme sounded like, but I don't think it was a Village People remix. Maybe it sounded a little like it, but I doubt it was a full fledged remix.

How about Brother Love? I sincerely believe that Brother Love was
without a doubt one of the best characters created by Vince McMahon. it
was great to have a fat, annoying, red faced TV evangilist conduct
interviews in an effort to advance and ignite storylines. And the thing
that I enjoyed the most about Brother Love is that he always sided with the
most evil wrestlers. It'd be great if they brought Brother Love back,
don't you think. Also, My friend thinks Brother Love was played by none
other than Ed Ferrera. Can you corroborate that?
"I LOOOVVVE YOOOOUU." Yes, Brother Love was a great character. Not sure how it work in this day and age but for its time, it was great. Brother Love was NOT played by Ed Ferrerra, but rather by Bruce Pritchard, who still works backstage for the WWF. His brother, former wrestler, Tom Pritchard, also works with the WWF and hosts the WWF's weekly internet show, Byte This, on WWF.com.

Kayfabe, I was reading through your answers to some questions and I saw that you had
listed your top 5 WWF finishing moves. However you mentioned number five as
"Christian's Move". Without trying to sound smart, I thought you might like to
know that this move is called the "Impaler", and yes, I agree with you that is
is a brilliant move! On a completely different note, do you not think that a great name for the
Rock's Samoan Drop would be the "Smackdown Hotel"? Just a passing thought. Great site and Great answers to the questions!
Yep, it is. With Gangrel's Impaler, I got confused and had a brain fart and couldn't remember that of course Christian's was called the Impaler as well so I covered my ass, but thanks for pointing that out. Smackdown Hotel? Sounds good to me. First he could lay the Smack Down with the DDT and then sent 'em to the Smackdown Hotel with the Samoan Drop.

Why doesn't the WWF get rid of the Hardcore and European titles? Jericho
could make the IC belt an important title to hold like in the good old days
with a long title run. And all the new talent recently injected into the WWF
such as Tazz, Kurt Angle, and the 4 Radicals from WCW could make the IC
division very exciting. All these other belts in the WWF really seem
pointless and take away from the true champions.
The Hardcore Belt I agree with; it is worthless. But I don't see the European Title causing any harm. It's a decent belt to shoot for. Let younger talent like Kurt Angle and such hold onto it. It's a good way to push a guy without giving him too much exposure too quickly. With the influx of Title changes, I say let that Title be traded around like a cheap whore and devote the IC Title back to what it once was. Let those reigns be long and successful and mean something.

What happend between sunny and the wwf. He character seemed like and
incredible asset to the company.
In short, no one really knows but the popular train of thought is that she got involved in drugs and other related naughty things which caused her to miss a lot of important dates for the company. After constant warnings from the WWF, and depending on whom you believe, she was either fired (more likely) or quit.

hey do u know of anywhere i can get a copy of the 98 royal rumble theme music
in wav format? or if possible can u mail it to me?
thanx
No, I don't. If you haven't heard lately, the WWF has been coming hard on independent websites for storing sound files from their programs so you would be hard pressed to find anything. And unfortunately, I do not have the time to send 1MB files through email. I don't even know if my mail lets me send stuff that large.

Defections to the WWF from down south always make for a good stir among
fans, especially on the net like we saw with the Big Show and Jericho.
Who are among the next "free agents" that we can speculate on in the new
millenium?
Despite what you hear elsewhere, I believe Benoit, Malenko, Saturn and Guerrero will all show up in the WWF sooner or later. After that, thoughts will shift towards Nash and Hall, even though their contracts do not end for at least another year and a half.

Hey great site and I'm not even gonna say that i'm ass kissing because you
should be glad that we all think your site is the best damn WWF site there
ever was. Anyways on to my questions and comments-
1. How come Edge and Christian or The Hardys really never get a tag title
shot? Well, the Hardys have gotten a couple of tag title shots, but Edge and
Christian have only gotten a tag title shot like one time. I mean every1 is
tired of the NAO. We would all love to see a title run by Edge and Christian
or The Hardy Boys.
2. I know one of you mail bag people actually likes the Big Bossman, but why
doesn't he ever defend the Hardcore Title? I mean isn't there a limited
amount of days that they have to defend their title in?
3. This has nothing to do with wrestling, but are u Indian Rajah? I know
Rajah is an Indian name or at least i think it is. Anyways, I was just
curious.
Thanks for reading and remember X-PAC RULES. (I know a lot of people hate me
now)
1)I would say because both teams are very young and will get their title shots in the years to come, as per the "time honored tradition".
2)Yeah, 31 days is supposed to be the time you must defend at least once, but lately, the WWF has chose to ignore that rule. Bossman has since lost his title, but look no further than the Kat, who hasn't defended for at least a month.
3)I was born in the Fiji Islands in the South Pacific but my ancestral descent is of Indian origin. If you're after specifics, I got no clue.

hey rajah whats up? my name is Grimbo and i live in perth australia. i love
my wrestling and i log onto your site at least once a day to find out what
is new in the world of wrestling.
anyways i just want to say your site rocks and because we dont get much
coverage of the wwf here in australia i have to rely on your site to inform
me on what is going down. well anyways here is a few questions which i would
like answered:
1. where do you get all your "inside" information? you seem to have the
answer to everything and know all the latest occurances and rumours!!!!
2. is there any chance that a wwf program will be in australia? like they do
with no mercy in th UK?
3. what do you think of HHH? personally i think the man is a GOD!!! my first
experience with the wwf was watching an episode of raw when x-pac was
getting the crap kicked out of him and HHH had been injured and made his
return by saving x-pac. from then on i thought hunter was a GOD!!! i was a
little sad when he turned on DX but i gotta admit his career has sky
rocketed since then. if there is one thing i miss about helmsley since then
is that he used to be the funniest guy around with all his penis jokes but
he needs to start them up again he needs to keep the "new tough mean" image
but start up being a total smartass again!!!! that was what DX was all
about!!!
anyways thanks buddy. keep up the good work
1)Unfortunately, I cannot say where I get all my info from (that would defeat the whole purpose of having "inside info"), but a lot of it is gathered through the works of Dave Meltzer and Wade Keller, two respected journalists in the world of wrestling.
2)Well, I've said this before and I'll say it again. I'm almost certain the WWF will eventually hold an event in Australia. It is a market that is too appealing for them to pass up on.
3)Although he is not my favorite wrestler, I do think quite highly of Triple H. The thing that amazes me the most is how he has improved so much since he first debuted in the WWF and as of now, is arguably the #1 guy in wrestling, although The Rock and his fans will argue that opinion. He is indeed the Game, as proven by his immense versatility.
From:Isis
ok rajah, i'm gonna skip through all of this your site is great shit because
i think it's already an astablished fact that your site kicks ass!!!Anyway,
here's my question why was Chainz, Brain Lee, Brain haris whatever, fired- i
heard it was because he beat up his wife? On a completly unrelated note i
don't know if this is possible but if it is i think you should add some sort
of search tool to the mailbag. A lot of times i know you've ansewerd a
question i have but searching through 19 mailbags for the ansewer takes
forever!!!
I'm not sure of the specifics of why he got fired but I'm guessing it really had nothing to do with his personal life, but rather the fact that the WWF had no creative plans for him. After Crush left for WCW, the DOA (which Chainz belonged to) fizzled and despite efforts from Brian Lee's (not Harris!) close friend Undertaker to get him his job back, he was let go. The search engine on the mailbag thing is a really cool and probably useful idea. However, being as computer illiterate as I am, I'm not sure how I would go about doing that or even if it can actually be done.

hey rajah and grandpa and kayfabe and sawan, and........ok I'm done. Hey I
had a question that I apologize is not nesescarily WWF related but it could
be. What is the status of Georgous George in WCW right now and is it
possible WCW may release her?
Thanks guys.
The Mailbag is down to basically myself (Rajah) and Kayfabe. I thought this was a good time to let everyone know. As for Gorgeous George, she is contractually obligated to WCW until summer (I believe June is the exact month) and likely will not be released before that. Randy Savage is close to re-signing with WCW and because the two are no longer an "item", I guess you can say there may be a better chance for her to end up in the WWF AFTER June then it was before.

What has really happened to Marianna? The last thing on read on your site is
that she is still with the WWF, but on the Official Women of Wrestling site
it says that she was released on September 1,1999.
Ok, here's all the information I know. I have been told by a source very close to Marianna that she is still with the WWF. She signed a three year contract over a year ago and as recently as a few weeks ago, it had not been terminated by either party. The information I get is that Marianna is still being evaluated for a possible role and was to be used in one of the Superbowl commercials. If you look closely, she was actually in the one with the Miss America pageant. This source also passes along the fact that the WWF is having Marianna train in martial arts and wrestling before actually thinking up an angle for her. Take that for what it's worth, but unfortunately it really isn't concrete. All I can say is that she is still under contract to the WWF.
From:One Man Mountain
Gillberg recently popped up on Heat, along with the Lightheavyweight
belt, losing to Papi Chulo(or whoever he is now). My problem is this:
I was reliably informed (both by the Internet and Wrestling mags) that
Duane Gill(Gillberg) was fired in April of '99 along with such folk as
Golga, Public Enemy and Sniper. Also, I heard that after he was fired
the lightheavyweight belt was abandoned because only Taka Michinoku
could hold it. Now either everyone got it wrong or the WWF just hoped
that no-one would notice but logically it doesn't make much sense. Or
maybe this whole thing's just a way to push Papi Chulo?
What's up with this whole thing?
Contrary to internet reports leaked in by the so-called insiders, Gillberg was never fully released from the WWF. In fact, a few days after news got out that the WWF fired a few of their superstars, Kevin Kelly I believe wrote up an article on WWF.com, outlining who exactly was still with the company and who got their walking papers. Only a few of the rumored ten or so wrestlers were fired. There is also an interesting side note to this story. I was actually told that the WWF was very ready to give Gillberg his release his well, but they got wind that WCW was ready to offer him a developmental deal for parody purposes (I would guess either to let Golberg squash him or for Gillberg to make fun of Austin). If true, it is likely then that the WWF decided to keep Gillberg. He has actually wrestled on-off for the past year at house shows and even indy cards.
