rajah.com Mailbag
-By Kayfabe and Rajah

Alright, I have re-opened the Mailbag section with the help of two individuals, Kayfabe and Grandpa. Hopefully, it will work out better this time, as the above individuals will handle the great BULK of the emails.

Here are the steps to take if you like your question answered in the Mailbag section:

1. Please check to see that your question(s) have not been answered on any other sections of the page. Take great note of the FAQ Part I and FAQ Part II as well as the mailbag archives at the bottom of the page. .
2. Send a legibly written question or comment to mailbag@rajah.com. Please limit yourself to only one question per person per email. This allows us to update the mailbag more frequently.
3. ALL email sent there may potentially be included in the Mailbag. If you do not want your response posted, do NOT send it there!
4. If a name is included, I will post it along with the email. If you do not want your name published, do NOT write it!
5. Remember, it is impossible that every email I receive get posted on this page. Only the best and most popular questions/comments will likely make it on.
6. Also remember, that questions will be answered by either Kayfabe or Rajah, so any personal remarks should be addressed accordingly. The following color scheme will be used:

Rajah - GREEN
Kayfabe - YELLOW

i dont know if anyone noticed but do you think that the wwf is doing the undertaker/big show angle with bossman and prince albert.its funny how bossman is supposed to be teaching prince albert how to be ruthless. just wanted to point that out.

Yep, it's the old student and the teacher angle. Not the first time it's been used and it won't be the last.

Talk about a misuse of talent. Taz gets hyped for about a month straight and who has he beaten. The Mean Street Posse, Kurt Angle, and the Bossman. The 4 midgets from WCW come in and they've punked out Too Cool and Rikishi, The Rock, DX, and The Hardy's. I'm afraid that Taz is going to be lost in the mid-card shuffle. Is there anything in the future for the human suplex machine?? If not, he might as well go back to ECW, choke out Mike Awesome and get his title back.

Tazz will work his way up with time. Lots of guys are being stifled right now. Only so many slots are open for success at once. Tazz will get his slot but he needs to work his way up through the ranks first. This feud with Boss Man will help a little bit. Boss Man is great, but he's past his prime and now he's doing what many before him have done. He's putting others over. A win over a long time veteran like Boss Man will be a good start for Tazz.

Hey guys, great site, I've been a loyal "attendee" for at least 6 months now. My question is along the lines of this: what do Vince/bookers have against former WCW guys who come to work for them? What do I mean? Well, let's take a look at all the "Dubbya-Cee-Dubbya" folks who've come over in the past year (feel free to add on if I forget one or two):

1. The Giant/Paul Wight/The Big Show
2. "Lionheart" Chris Jericho/"Y2J" Chris Jericho
3. "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit
4. Dean Malenko
5. Perry Saturn
6. Eddie Guerrero

(I'm not forgetting about The British Bulldog- he was already fired when he came over and had been for a while.)

Let's look at their "debut" matches for the WWF. IIRC, Paul's first match was against "Stone Cold" Steve Austin w/ Mankind as the ref. He lost. Jericho's first match was against the Road Dogg. He lost (by DQ). Malenko fought X-Pac and lost, Saturn/Guerrero fought the New Age Outlaws and lost, and Benoit fought Triple H and lost. EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM lost their DEBUT matches!

Compare this to anyone else, either from ECW or the indys or from nowhere: Meat/Shawn Stasiak, Tazz, Stevie Richards, Prince Albert, Nicole Bass, Kurt Angle, The Dudley Boyz, Joey Abs (!)- they all won their debut matches, as is supposed to happen. With the WCW guys, though, they all lost! Why? Is it some sort of psychosomatic vendetta Vince & Co. have against everyone who ever worked for Turner willingly? It boggles the mind and, what's worse, it makes all of them look weak. The Show should have demolished Austin, Mankind or no Mankind. Matter of fact, he pretty much did. Ever since then, though, he's kinda sucked. Jericho lost several matches in a row, to people he sould have taken to school (Road Dogg? X-Pac?). And The Radicals couldn't beat DX? Puh-leeze. X-Pac sucks (he does, face it, he suffers from the same 3-Move Syndrome as Austin and The Godfather), the NAO aren't "a well-oiled machine" anymore, and HHH has relied on women his entire career to win matches.

Matter of fact, while I'm on the topic of Triple H, the WWF really screwed up when they made him champion the first time. He did NOTHING for the belt and it took an alliance w/ Shane McMahon and Commissioner Michaels to get some decent heat. Then, in the expanse of like, a week, Hickenbottom f's up on Byte This! and insults every champion since himself and Levesque, and suddenly the McMahons hate Helmsley. Now, I don't want to go off on a rant here (thanks Dennis Miller!), but what followed was rediculous! He loses the belt to Vince McMahon (don't give WCW any idea, Vince! I couldn't stomach "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair being referred to as a 15-time World Heavyweight Champion, 14 is bad enough), then gets it back a couple weeks later at the worst PPV of the year. From that point on, he becomes one of the best champions in a LONG time (took some Shawn Michaels pills, I see). He keeps the belt for two whole months, becoming one of the most reviled men in the industry. Then The Big Show takes Austin's spot at Survivor Series and wins the strap. He remains champion for a very respectable (for a first time champ) month and a half. Then the WWF makes a HUGE mistake and makes HHH the champ yet again! For those with any math skills, that equates to 3 reigns w/in 6 months. AKA: The Rock!

Three championship reigns is about average, I'd say, as far as WWF Champs have gone. However, to give one wrestler 3 reigns w/in a year tempts fate. Just look at The Rock. It's been almost a year since he lost the belt and signs seem to point towards his regaining it at WrestleMania XVI or right after. That will be his 4th reign, meaning that, unless they want to "break the record," he will only be able to hold the belt one more time before retiring. And, unless he's going to retire early (like Owen was planning to do and like Mick looks to be doing now (although he needs to, for health alone)), that means several years in a row of no championship reigns OR a VERY long (i.e. boring) 4th or 5th reign. Same with HHH, although he's older.

So what am I getting at? the WWF rushed these two guys through their reigns and, as a result, will be suffering for it later. And, if they have a lot of "main eventers" w/in the next few years, which looks as though it could happen, they'll be victims of the WCW syndrome, which shuffles the belt around to different guys every month, or so it seems. Anyway, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. (Thanks again, Dennis!)

See ya guys!

Matt (future RajahWWF columnist (I hope! ;^) )

Alright, a lot of good points in there. Yeah, title reigns are short and worthless these days. I've spoken about the crazy number of title reigns before. I mean the Rock could be an eleven time Champ before all is said and done; that's asanine.

But Vince has nothing against the ex-WCW guys. They're bringing in money for him now. If he had something against them, would The Big Show be a former WWF Champion? Would Chris Jericho be a multiple Intercontinental Champion six months into his WWF career? Would Chris Benoit and company have been immediately put into an angle with DX that required them to wrestle the likes of the Rock and Rikishi? To quote Shawn Michaels, "I don't think so." Oh, and if you want to get technical, Jericho's first WWF match was a win against the Big Boss Man.

Just wanted to know why the WWF decided to 'update' D-Generation X's music? WHAT DO THEY THINK THEY ARE PLAYING AT?? Now i'm all for change once in a while but, as the saying goes, 'If it ain't broke don't fix it'. So what do they go and do? Update it and make a kockery of a classic slice of WWF entrance music. Anyway i just wanted to know what you guys think of it. I noticed on Raw that the crowd response was less than inspiring. Change it back now!!!!

I don't have a problem with it. No big deal to me. So they come out to a remixed version once in awhile. Big whoop. I mean, is DX's music really going to effect how many people watch the product? Will someone sit there and say, "I hate this new music; I'm turning off the TV and never watching the WWF again"? No, of course not.

dear raj-----take this for what it's worth, but in your mailbag i read that someone asked a ? regarding blood tests, a few months back, i met a guy who explained this to me. according to him(he was a registered nurse)--at certain venues and in certain states since wwf entertainment takes place in a ring, they are governed by certain boxing organizations. and, in these states, they are required to take blood tests the day that they are to perform......like i said take it for what it is worth, but what he did tell me, and keep in mind this is in pennsylvania(pittsburgh), that his company did the blood testing.....i didn't believe him at first until he made the point that the WCW does not come to pittsburgh very often.......think about it....love the site...

Interesting information.

Rajah, Goldberg is out till May because he put his arm through a windshield. Tony Schiavone's kids go to my school and I talked to Mr. Schiavone and he said he is out till May.

Oh yeah... well I know a guy that goes to school with Wally Joyner's daughter. Take that!

Does Tiger Ali Singh still wrestle for WWF?

Last I heard on Tiger, he was reassigned to Memphis. He's still under WWF contract, but when you get reassigned like that, let's just say it's not exactly great news.

I have just finished reading a column on your web site by Todd.C.Perego: Wrestling Perspectives and was rather upset when I read a comment he made about the British Bulldog. He referred to the bulldog as some old geezer who couldn't cut any promos. The British Bulldog had been working his butt off for years for the WWF and deserves a little respect. He was part of the greatest tag team in history and has captured all but one of the titles. I feel very sorry for the guy, he should be at WWf Title level but can't even make Intercontinental. He has been partnered with the most ludicrous of people and has had 2 feeble title shots whilst he has been back in the WWF. So what I'm trying to say is that people out there should start cutting Bulldog dome slack.

Well, you'll have to take that up with Todd, who by the way is one hell of a writer. I agree with what you said though. The Bulldog deserves all of our respect. He's been a top preformer forever and has pretty much done it all. I was pulling for him to win the title at Unforgiven so badly, but it didn't happen. Now, Davey Boy is facing his own trouble outside the ring, and if it matters at all, I just want to wish him the best of luck. We're all behind you, Davey.

hey raj, dis is a damn good site. neways i've been hearing rumors dat HHH will turn on x-pac and dat the rock will take his place. Do u know if its true . if dat does happen i think it will b stupid da rock wont fit in wit them and d-x will suck. i for one dont wanna c x-pac leave because i am a huge fan of his and i know he wont make it big wit out d-x. also d-x wont b da same witout x-pac. all of their characteristics (HHH, Bad Ass , Road Dogg , and X-pac) is wat make up d-x if one of them leaves there will b like a missing component. can u please share ur thoughts wit me on dis . also is x- pac married and does he have kids n how old is he .

The Rock won't join HHH and DX; that's crazy. Here's the skinny on X-Pac: he's not leaving DX anytime soon, he's married, with I believe one child, and he's about 27 years old.

This isn't official, but check it out anyway: Vince Russo. It's a guaranteed laugh.
And heh, try this one and see where it takes you: Jeff Jarrett. Look familiar?

I'm sure there are more, but that's all I've got for now.

Oh, and this isn't a wrestlers' website, but it is a good site that will soon be conducting an exclusive interview with a top name within the wrestling industry. Check it out.

hey, great site and all that. Now, on to my point. I'll get shit from others for this, but do you think Mark Calloway should retire? I mean I like the gimmick and all, but he sucks as a wrestler. When you think of his best matches, the Hell In A Cells, you realise he did toss all. Mick and HBK did the bumps, UT just no sold all the offense. In matches against lower rankes wrestlers, the match has sucked cos no-one can carry the match (Bossman @WM15, Rock KotR, any Hogan match, Undertaker vs Underfaker Summer Slam 93 (?). Lets face it, he's only looked good against the 2 best wrestlers of the decade, Bret and Shawn, and when Foley risks his well-being. I'll get shit from everyone, but thats my opinion.
While I'm at it. Bring back Jeff Jarrett! Screw Austin and give JJ the World belt.
Cheers, Paul

Yes, yes, Jarrett! But don't hate the Taker. Yes, he's older now and he's injury prone, but that happens to everyone with age. Mick Foley could barely walk at the end of his career and nobody was saying he 'should' retire. As for no-selling the offense, that's his gimmick! He's the Dead Man, he can't be hurt. He feels no pain. Taker can still carry a match. Just let him have his one last run.

Does it seem like Edge, Christian, Val Venis and Test, who were all coming off of a huge push last year seem to be way down on the ladder now? The WWF seems to do that alot. Push a guy quite a bit then ignore them. It's a concperacy against the Canadians. And I heard THe Undertaker was canadian too, could you tell me?

They have to do that with some guys. It's a rotating process. Sometimes you're up for a bit, then it's someone elses chance. Test and Val have been injured this year, hence the lack of their involvement, and Edge and Christian are currently the #1 contenders for the Tag Team Titles. How is that not considered a push? Conspiracy against the canadians?! And I suppose the success of Bret and Owen Hart in the past, and Chris Jericho and Benoit currently, is just a fluke.

Undie is not canadian.

Hey Rajah/Kayfabe, Is there any reason why the Hardy Boyz don't get nearly the respect they deserve, I know they once had the tag titles, but now they are so much better. The people love them (recall when they almost one the titles on RAW a month or so back), and they deserve to be the champs as they have much more talent than the "Road Dogg" Jesse James and Billy Gunn. Billy should have the IC and Road Dogg should go after the hardcore (the belt for people with no talent). Road Dogg is no longer interesting, their intro is old and tiresome, let's see some new faces for christ's sake. I mean, think about it...which is more interesting: Watching the Hardy Boyz fight Edge/Christian or Dudley Boyz in either a ladder or table match OR Seeing The New Age Outlaws defend their titles against the Headbangers

It's as simple as that, the WWF needs to give the Hardy Boyz a major push. Have them save some faces ( cactus jack while he is being beat up at the hands of the outlaws) they deserve the titles.

They'll get the titles within a couple of months. The tag division is stacked right now. The Dudleys, Edge & Christian, and Too Cool are all up there along with the Hardyz on top of the Tag Division. Matt and Jeff are still young. They'll have a lot of success both as a team and on their own in the years to come.

hey guys, I love your site! this question is for kayfabe:

Christian sux. Edge is way better. Is it just me or does christian look like he's 45? Rajah + Thememaster forever. Everyone read Vegas' column, it kicks ass! Wooooo!

Master of Tumbleweedology,

Weakner

So, Weak, been hittin' the wowie sauce a little hard again? Or are the tumbleweeds gettin to ya? Let me know. We can get you the help you need.

No, wait. I take that back. You actually make two valid points. Vegas' column is good, and, hmmm... Rajah and Thememaster? You'll have to ask Raj about that. I'm not touching that one with a ten foot pole.

Hey, my name is ELliot. Great site guys! I love the mailbag. Anyway, I recently noticed that Triple H has won every major title except for the tag title. DOes this mean that he is one step away from the grand slam (that Shawn Michaels ahd) or does he have to hold all the titles at once? This has been buggin me for a while....thanks for the great work guys! keep it up!

No, you don't have to hold them all at once. That would be a little extreme as nobody has held even three WWF Titles at once.

From: RLiao2000
tyte site. anyewayz.... these dx and radicals are like really takingxtra long promos and are limiting a whole bunch of matches which sux. Thats why each smackdowns are gettin worse because these angles are takin about 1 half hour of the programs. when will they change it? Again...tight site.

Yeah, there's been a ton of promos recently, but those with DX and the Radicals were necessary to fully introduce the Radicals into the WWF. Now it appears that those are all done, so you don't have to worry. Interviews are completely necessary, but I wish that in general, there would be some more focus put on the actual matches.

Hey, what if all the young talent in WCW got tired of jobbing and going nowhere in their careers while the over-the-hill stars got all the attention, and decided to go to ECW? Then ECW puts up two new shows, directly in competition with Nitro and Thunder, and after, say, a week, ECW gets ratings that put WCW's to shame. Finally, WCW falls apart, and we have two real federations; one with the glitz, glamour, and star power not unlike Hollywood (WWF), and the other operating in much smaller venues, but with great talent, a cult-like following, and the chance to do things that are much riskier than what the WWF does. I've seen ECW as the indie film circuit to the WWF and WCW's Hollywood, so why doesn't it replace WCW as one of the Top Two? I, for one, would rather see two ends of the spectrum taking the top spots than one original and one clone federation on top.

Easier said than done. First off, these WCW guys would not only have to get sick of jobbing and going nowhere, but also get sick of earning huge contracts. Hmmm, does that sound likely? Also, ECW still has a big problem in that they don't have much money at all. If they could ever get their company together and earn some cash- enough to pay the wrestlers you're referring to AND buy some press and promote their show, it would still be tough. WCW, like them or not, has a pretty decent southern fan base, not to mention the finincial backing and exposure Ted Turner gives them. Besides, ECW has trouble getting people to watch their one show now; they're far from going to two shows per week. It all sounds good, but realistically, it's a stretch.

Great site Rajah -- Here's a question... Where the hell is Stevie Richards? Stevie and the Blue Meanie were hilarious together!

Stevie has been out of action since last December when Chris Jericho tossed him out of the ring and he landed awkwardly on his foot. He sustained a broken bone in the foot, if I'm not mistaken, and it isn't well enough for him to return yet. When he does come back, he'll have to wear a specially designed boot.
