rajah.com Mailbag
-By Kayfabe and Rajah

Alright, I have re-opened the Mailbag section with the help of two individuals, Kayfabe and Grandpa. Hopefully, it will work out better this time, as the above individuals will handle the great BULK of the emails.

Here are the steps to take if you like your question answered in the Mailbag section:

1. Please check to see that your question(s) have not been answered on any other sections of the page. Take great note of the FAQ Part I and FAQ Part II as well as the mailbag archives at the bottom of the page. .
2. Send a legibly written question or comment to mailbag@rajah.com. Please limit yourself to only one question per person per email. This allows us to update the mailbag more frequently.
3. ALL email sent there may potentially be included in the Mailbag. If you do not want your response posted, do NOT send it there!
4. If a name is included, I will post it along with the email. If you do not want your name published, do NOT write it!
5. Remember, it is impossible that every email I receive get posted on this page. Only the best and most popular questions/comments will likely make it on.
6. Also remember, that questions will be answered by either Kayfabe or Rajah, so any personal remarks should be addressed accordingly. The following color scheme will be used:

Rajah - GREEN
Kayfabe - YELLOW

IMPORTANT: For this next edition of the mailbag, we are asking all readers to send us in with their Wrestlemania-related questions, memories, comments and general discussions. We hope to get a lot and will post only dialogue related to Wrestlemania. Please take this into consideration when sending us your emails this week! Thanks.

Hey love the site! It's what me and all my friends talk about on after it is updated with rumors. We say, "Rajah said this and Rajah said that." It's great!

My most memorable Wrestlemania moment is probably at Wrestlemania 13 when Sid was facing off with the Undertaker and Bret Hart got his ass kicked! Then he comes back at the end of the match and gets his ass kicked again causing Sid to lose the title to the Undertaker! I loved it. Especially when Hart comes out for the second time and Shawn Michaels says, "Man doesn't this guy ever get tired of getting beat up." I laughed so hard after that one! Thanks for everything Rajah!

Shawn Michaels, always one for the quick one-liners.

From: Philip
You might not remember this off the top of your head, but my favorite WM moment (even though I have only seen 9 and 15), was during the IC title match between Tatanka and HBK at WM 9. HBK climbed onto the turnbuckle and jumped off, arms above his head, slightly bent. Tatanka jumped into the air and locked one of his arms with one of HBK's, and in midair, turned around and slammed HBK into the mat. It went by so fast and was immediately followed by a couple other quick moves, but it was a great moment that I couldn't forget about during the rest of the event.

Yep, kind of like an arm drag or hip toss off the top. In my opinion, that match aside from Bret vs. Owen at Wrestlemania X, was the best opening match at any Wrestlemania. Fifteen to twenty minutes of good fast paced wrestling.

From: Ryne
Hi this is Ryne and I was wondering, last year when Butterbean fought in a boxing match against Bart Gunn was that a planned out match or was it real?

From what I remember it was a shoot match, meaning it was real.

From: Lai
Hi, I am from singapore and have been watching wrestling for 10 years. These are my top three best and worst matches from wm6-15.

BEST
1)WM12 Bret vs Hbk(Iron Man Match WWF Championship)
2)WM10 Hbk vs Razor Ramon(Ladder Match Ic Championship)
3)Warrior vs Macho Man(Loser Retire Match)

WORST
1)Jake vs ???(Blindfold Match)
2) Undertaker vs Sid(WWF Championship)
3)Undertaker vs King Kong Bundy

Your three best were all classics. I knid of like Jake vs. Martel from Wrestlemania VII. Sid/Taker is indeed considered by many to be the weekest Wrestlemania Main Event.

From: Michael
Let's see, where to begin. I guess I'll pull a Rajah and do the one liners:

-The 60 minute Ironman match at WMXII is highly overrated. I watched it twice and about 38 minutes of it consisted of 3 minute head locks and arm bars. It is a testament to the endurance of both men to actually be in the ring for that long, but the match itself was fairly boring until the last 15 minutes. While on the subject of WMXII, it features the best powerbomb ever delivered in a ring. Diesel/Nash whatever you want to call him hit a nasty looking one on Taker (the first, not the second).

-What do you think was the worse WM main event? I'm speaking in terms of the actual match, not the people involved. For me, I'd say it's a tie between WMVI w/Hogan v.s. the Warrior (considering neither man can wrestle) & WMIX when we saw the biggest load of crap: Bret Hart lost to Yokozuna, then Hogan pins him five minutes later.

-I've seen every Wrestlemania and aside from III, are the crowds always dead?

-Rajah & Kayfabe: What are your favorite Wrestlemania matches: I'm going with Bret/Owen at WMX and Savage/Steamboat at WMIII.

-Why oh why did Sid main event a Wrestlemania? Were they that low on main eventers at the time?

-This is only a little off the subject, but how long (altogether) was Rock the I.C. champ? I know he held it from December '97 to August '98, but I also remember him beating the Sultan at WMXIII.

-Why did Earthquake squash Adam Bomb at WMX? Was Adam Bomb in the doghouse or what?

-Worse Wrestlemania match in history: Hunter Hearst Helmsley v.s the Ultimate Warrior at WMXII. Not only did Hunter get squashed, but he got squashed with the following moves: 4 weak ass looking running clothesline, a press slam, a body splash on his back. Pathetic. A testament to why I DON'T want to see the Warrior again....in any ring.

I think I've already commented on a lot of my personal Wrestlemania feelings in the little commentary (It was designed that way so I could leave the rest of the Mailbag open to all of your thoughts instead of chiming it at length with mine.), but to breifly address a couple of your points:

Sometimes squash matches are designed that way for a reason. There have been a lot of squash matches at Wrestlemanias. Bundy and SD Jones, The Harts and Bolsheviks, Earthquake and Bomb, Warrior and Helmsley, etc.

4 weak ass moves? Those four weak ass moves helped the Ultimate Warrior become one of the most popular stars the wrestling world has ever seen in the late 80's and early 90's and led him to the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship.

The Rock was a two time Intercontinental Champion. After taking the WWF by storm in late 1996, Rocky won the Title from Triple H in early 1997 and lost it to the late great Owen Hart in April of the same year. He successfully defended the Title against the Sultan at Wrestlemania XIII in between.

From: TheBot30
my two worst wrestlemania moments are wm 4 and warrior v. hogan, that match has to be the worst of all time. "warrior hit a suplex, oh my god that has to be all, 1-2-NOOOO HOGAN SOMEHOW KICKED OUT" Take it easy

For two bigger guys that didn't have a ton of stamina or speed and agility, the actual Warrior/Hogan match itself was pretty damn good. Neither was acustomed to going twenty-five minutes in the ring. The thing about that match was that each guy was playing a role foreign to him. Usually Hogan and The Warrior would get beat on during all of their matches only to come back and hulk up for the win. In this case, since they were fighting each other instead of an evil villian, this could not happen. So they managed a back and forth match, not their styles, and it actually turned out well. The characters, the crowd, the atmosphere, the weeks of hype, the first time ever two titles were on the line... These all helped build up the match. But when it came to actually getting it on in the ring, Hogan and The Warrior did a terrific job. We have been spoiled in recent years by the technical dominance of Bret Hart and the agility of Shawn Michaels. Before they came around, the Hogan/Warrior match was just as good as any. That's what I was talking about earlier. You just can't always look back in retrospect. Things change with time. In April 1990, that Hogan/Warrior match was a great battle. And today, for many, it is still the most memorable match of all time.

From: Thomn
I was one of the millions..and millions at wrestlemani 3. it was awsome, although i was very young it was the most incredible thing to actually hear the crowd go nuts when Hulk Hogan slammed Andre the Giant. I know the Rock recieves huge pops, but that has to be the biggest pops of all time.

The slam heard round the world. And you were there to witness it. I envy you.

From: Mike
Hey Guys...this feature of the site is great, as it really allows some nice feedback and whatnot. Anyway, as a Huntington Beach, California resident, I am lucky in that the WWF comes to our neck of the woods for some of their biggest events. I saw the classic iron man match at Wrestlemania XII, Vince winning the Rumble in '99, and even his own surprising return to save Linda McMahon a few months back. And by the way...I've got seats for Wrestlemania 2000!

Now what do you think was the greatest match of all time?: Shawn Michaels v. Bret Hart. For storyline purposes, maybe Austin v. Rock was the best, but no match had more impact on the business and was better worked. For more than an hour these two guys worked their asses off, and to this day no one has come close. Two great workers (unlike any other wrestlemania main event) and two incredible showmen.

Seats for Wrestlemania 2000, eh? Hmmmm. Then you know what you have to do. Break out the cardboard and magic markers and get to work, my friend. A few sign ideas to get you started (Note: As I write these it is 2 AM. Most signs are probably ripoffs, or have no point. They are not necessarily my opinions or my point of view; just things I've heard being tossed around. Few are intended to be funny.):

I, of course, went through many of my favorite matches earlier. Best Ever Title Match: Wrestling wise, you're on the money with what you said about Bret and Shawn. Storylines also considered, I'm awfully partial to Flair/Savage, although it's often criticized.

From: Chase
In your opinion what were the greatest Wrestlemania matches for these categories.

WWF Championship
Intercontinental Championship
Tag team Championship

My favorite WWF title match was HBK vs. Diesel @ WM 11
Intercontinental fav is HBK vs Razor in the Ladder Match
Tag Team fav is Owen and Yokozuna vs the Smoking Gunns.

Just wanted your opinion . THANKS

MY favorites in each of the categories:
World: As I was just saying, it's probably a toss up between Flair/Savage and Hart/Michaels, with Hogan/Warrior right there. Just for the hell of it, I'd have to go with Bret and Shawn as my favorite. A lot of people knock Kevin Nash, but Diesel/Michales at Wrestlemania XI was a great match. I could see how you'd list that as your favorite. It's higher up on my list than some might expect.
Intercontinental: Though I love Roddy and Bret and the Ladder Match with Razor and Shawn (and for that matter Hogan/Warrior- I mean that was an IC Title Match too), I'd have to go with Savage and Steamboat. That match was just unreal.
Tag Team: This one is tough to call. Owen & Yoko/Gunns was a goodie, but so was the Mega Maniacs/Money Inc. Wrestlemania IX battle. Demolition/Collosal Connection was great too, but only because of the famous Andre face turn that followed the match. All things considered, I'd go with.... Bodydonnas/Godwinns. No, just kidding. I'll step back to 1986 and Wrestlemania II for my choice. Bulldogs/Dream Team. Great match and the Bulldogs came out on top thus starting their only Title Reign.

hey guys great site i know you hear it all the time but its really true anyways my question is in regards to the pre-wrestlemania events who is defintely going to be at axxess and also at the meet and greet party (for the squared circle members) thanx for the info

There are tons of names that are going to be appearing at Axxess. Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, Debra, The Undertaker, The Dudley Boys, and dozens of other wrestlers. From what I understand, a solid chunk of the WWF roster will be there. For more information on Axxess, click here.

From: Craig
my favorite moment from a wrestlemania is the 30 seconds before the match started between hulk and andre when they just stared each other down..that was what the main event was supposed to be about.......pure evil-satan driven-hate for each other......i haven't seen that kind of moment in any other wrestlemania.....wouldn't it have been great to see kane and taker stare each other down in the heat of the moment before their match started or to see hhh and the rock in each others faces for thirty seconds before they get rocking and rolling....but thats my opinon and i come from the old school.....and i think hulk hogan has become a huge pile of monkey crap............craig

Staredowns are great. If you wanna talk staredowns, look no farther then Hulk and Andre in the Silverdome.

Hey Rajah,

First of all great site. My favorite Wrestlemania moment occurred on Wretlemania 9. It was in the main event, Hulk Hogan Vs Sid Vicious. What occurred was that Hulk Hogan was just going to win, when Papa Chango(now the godfather) came in and interfered. Hulk Hogan won by disqualification, but then they both ganged up on him and the crowd was really quiet. Then all of the sudden the long forgotten Ultimate Warrior came in and saved Hulk Hogan. I think that was one of the greatest Wrestlemania moments. Do you think that they will do something like that this year with Stone Cold Steve Austin? Just imagine what a huge pop Stone Cold would get.

Yes indeed, Wrestlemania VIII. One of the best, most surprising events of all time. Sid goes to grab a steel chair, and the first note of the Warrior's music hits. The crowd looks towards the entrance, and Warrior comes bolting down to Hulk's rescue like a maniac. Great moment.

I don't really see Stone Cold doing that this year. It would be great and the ovation would be tremendous, but I doubt he'll be healthy enough in time, and the WWF does not want to risk any further damage to Steve Austin.

From: Viscera v.W.o.
Here is my question to you Special K. The Big Vis Man wants to know something, since The Ultimate Warrior defeated The Macho King at Wrestlemania VII in a retire match, how did The Macho King/Man come back into the WWF? Did the WWF pull a famous "radiers of the lost angle" thing again?

Reigning Supreme,
v. W. o

Yes, folks, just to quickly clear this up, Special K was being used in reference to me, not Ketamine. Wrestlemania VII, 1991, Randy Savage loses a Career Match to the Ultimate Warrior, meaning his career is over. Wrestlemania VIII, 1992, the same Macho Man beats Ric Flair for the WWF Title. So what happened? Simple.

After Randy reunited with Elizabeth following his match with the Warrior, he settled into a non-wrestling role. He began commentating, something he was quite good at, actually, but it wasn't long until he felt the urge to step into the ring again. So, he did. He led Elizabeth into the ring, got down on one knee, and proposed to her. That August at Summerslam '91, they were married in the middle of the ring at Madison Square Garden. It was the happiest day of his life. Everything was wonderful. Then at the wedding reception, Elizabeth opened one of their gifts only to find... a snake. A large snake. A python. Jake "The Snake" Roberts' python. Jake (along with the Undertaker and Paul Bearer) crashed the party and attacked Savage.

In the months that followed, Roberts would provoke Savage time after time from his commentating booth knowing full well that Randy could do nothing about it in the ring since he was retired. Eventually, Savage could take no more and rushed the ring to confront Roberts. He was met with a brutal attack. After having his way with Savage, Jake tied him in the ropes, and let loose a snake on Randy. The snake bit into Savage's arm as blood began to surface. It took minutes to get a hallucinating Savage out of the ring and onto a stretcher. Jake had hit a new low. WWF President Jack Tunney decided that enough was enough, and not only did he ban Jake's snake from ringside, but he also reinstated The Macho Man so that Randy could get his hands on Jake. After cutting a pair of great promos at the Survivor Series, Roberts and Savage went at it at This Tuesday In Texas, a one time only PPV held a week later. Savage won the match, but Jake was able to deliver three DDT's to him afterwards and then slap Elizabe th in the face (MAJOR problem back then). Jake and Savage engaged in what many consider to be the most hated feud in WWF history. The emotion they put into their match and promos at Survivor Series and Tuesday In Texas are simply incredible if you've never seen them. Anyway, long story short, (... too late) that's how Savage was reinstated into the WWF. After beating Jake in a string of matches, Randy focused his attention on the WWF Title by entering the 1992 Royal Rumble in which the winner would take home the gold. The legendary Ric Flair was victorious that night, and proceeded to set his sights on Savage. Another feud was born, and in another emotionally draining situation, Savage beat Flair at Wrestlemania VIII to become the #1 guy in the company after three long years without the belt. In one year, Randy Savage went from retired to WWF Heavyweight Champion.

I have a few Wrestlemania memories,

-Mr. T w/ Hogan (WMI)
-Austin giving HBK the final stunner at WM 14
-How at school I could recite the whole WM 15 promo thing and kids would actully say they would buy it cause of me, "WrestleMania 15 brought to you in part by Crunchy M&M's, some thing some thing something, Wrestlemania 15 comes to you LIVE from i forget now."
-How Vince has WCW and Paul Heyman wet their pants every April, just kidding.
-I also like how every year Vince uses stuff like The Rock on SNL to hype up "Wrestling" (say it like your 70 year old english teacher)

Keep up the good job here in the mailbag guys, and hope I could help from Socko.

Socko: The Walking Wrestlemania Commercial. That must have been good. You mention SNL here, so let me just throw something in about that real quick. It was just plain amazing to see The Rock, Triple H, The Big Show, Mick Foley, and Vince McMahon standing side by side throughout the whole thing. That was just wild. I mean it speaks volumes about how far wrestling has come. Do you think eight years ago we would've seen Hogan hosting Saturday Night Live standing side by side and laughing it up with Sid Justice, Ric Flair, and The Macho Man? I think not. That idea would be laughed at. How can you have enemies like that break kayfabe and just have a good time with each other?! That'll ruin the hype for the show. No, it will ruin the integrity of the business! Eight years later things have changed and it's amazing how much different they've become. It was great to see the WWF's elite representing the company as they did on national TV. Overall it was a very well done show, but for me the highli ght was that first scene with Vince, Show, Foley, and The Game. Big Show was hilarious and everyone played their roles perfectly. Vince had to calm everybody down, and after question after question about who would be fighting the Rock that night, Vince had to tell them that nobody would be fighting the Rock tonight. To which Triple H replied, "... the hell kinda show is this?" Maybe I was the only one that found that little exchange the funniest of the night, but to me it was just plain classic.

From: OT
I just thought I'd let you know my favorite WrestleMania moment would easily have to be when the Doinkster did the old second Doink trick at WrestleMania IX against the chump (and I use that term loosely), Crush. Oh, and the worst moment, when he and Dink lost to those two of nature (no, not Kurrgan and Golga) Bams Bums Bigelow and Luna (I'm hired, I'm fired, I'm hired again, I'm fired again) Vachon/Tic/Whatever the hell else. Well, thanks for your time. Oh, I'd like to add that OT is my favorite Forumite as little as he shows up. Can I get his home address to mail him a cake? Keep up the good work Kayfabe, doinkisgod.

OT in da house! How did I guess, the OTster refreshes us with a Doink memory. For those of you that don't have the privlege of knowing, this guy is a Doink maniac. He has really taken the Doink thing to another level. I mean it was annoying when he started humming the circus theme non-stop. And we weren't very encouraged when he started painting his face. But when he started wearing the whole costume and started carrying around a little midget with him, well we knew he had problems. Yes, Wrestlemania IX was Doink's moment in the sun. He never really got as big as he did that day. It was his career highlight. A Wrestlemania victory and the debut of the Double Doinks. He had a good thing going but his career never really did take off all that much afterwards, did it? It's a shame too. Because now poor OT feels he has to fill the Doink void in his life by joining a traveling carnival. He thinks that he actually IS Doink. Just look at what he wrote, he wants them to send a cake to OT. He IS OT. Poor guy has an identity crisis. Let us show him our support at this difficult juncture in his life.
