| rajah.com Mailbag -By Kayfabe and Rajah |
Alright, I have re-opened the Mailbag section with the help of two individuals, Kayfabe and Grandpa. Hopefully, it will work out better this time, as the above individuals will handle the great BULK of the emails.
Here are the steps to take if you like your question answered in the Mailbag section:
1. Please check to see that your question(s) have not been answered on any other sections of the page. Take great note of the FAQ Part I and FAQ Part II as well as the mailbag archives at the bottom of the page. .
2. Send a legibly written question or comment to mailbag@rajah.com. Please limit yourself to only one question per person per email. This allows us to update the mailbag more frequently.
3. ALL email sent there may potentially be included in the Mailbag. If you do not want your response posted, do NOT send it there!
4. If a name is included, I will post it along with the email. If you do not want your name published, do NOT write it!
5. Remember, it is impossible that every email I receive get posted on this page. Only the best and most popular questions/comments will likely make it on.
6. Also remember, that questions will be answered by either Kayfabe or Rajah, so any personal remarks should be addressed accordingly. The following color scheme will be used:Rajah - GREEN
Kayfabe - YELLOW

DDP was at wm 6. he drove the pink cadillac that carried rythym and blues to
the ring when they sang their new song. Dave Meltzer, DDP himself, and others
have confirmed this..just thought id let u know..ryan
You learn something new every day. I was unaware that DDP ever had anything to do with a Wrestlemania, so I apologize. Guess I tried to block that entire Honka, Honka, Honky Love segment from my memory.

I don't think that highly of WMIX at all. First of all, the idea of it
being Caesar's Palace, so let's wear togas was stupid (as you sort of
admitted). You seem to be a little bit of a Hogan mark, which might bias
your opinion. But all this p.p.v. did, IMODO, was show what an egomaniac
Hogan was. He lost a tag title match, so he had to go over in the main
event, which was pretty poor itself (but everything with Yoko is). So Hogan
comes out to console Bret, but ends up beating Yoko in a minute, then not
showing up to t.v. tapings or house shows, becaues he *is* Hogan. So at
KOTR, Hulkamania was finally killed with a leg drop by Yokozuna.
Back to the p.p.v. Undertaker v. Giant Gonzalez sucked. There's no way of getting around it. Giant Gonzalez can't wrestle to begin with, and the UT usually needs someone to carry him (Bret/HBK). Plus, it ended with a d.q. because of chloroform leading to their exciting rematch at SummerSlam which was even more atrocius.
WMIX is widely considered the worst of the WM's. The action was pretty horrible, and there is nothing really noteworthy, historically, that happened. With WMXIII there was the double-switch of Bret and Austin in a ***** match, which saves the show from contention.
The Insane Luchadore
p.s. My favorite WM of all-time is WMX. Two ***** matches on one card, and a last hurrah for Savage.
Back up there, TILster. The Big K is, wasn't and never will be anything close to a Hogan mark. Even in his heyday I prefered the Warrior. I wasn't a huge Hogan fan, but Wrestlemania IX impressed me. I was Bret mark so I was happy he was in the main event. The Doink angle was cool, so was the Luger/Perfect/Michaels storyline, Michaels and Tatanka put on a hell of a match and I just thought it was an overall cool card. The set up rocked. Caesars Palace, Roman times; it was cool. It appealed to me. You talk about the ridiculous Taker/Gonzalez feud and Summerslam match, and the fact that Hogan didn't appear on TV afterwards but I don't care. As I said in the last Mailbag, I was not judging the Wrestlemania's in retrospect or their historical value. I was merely commenting on what they were like at the time. Widely consdered amongs the worst, you say? Were you really saying that at the time? Were you talking about how the "internet fans" simply wouldn't except this? It was 1993! And I enjoyed it. For the record, I didn't say Wrestlemania IX was my absolute favorite. I just chose to talk about that one in detail. Wrestlemania X undoubtedly had the best card of any Wrestlemania while XII and XIII had the worst.

Hey mailbag guys,
I just got done watching wm 2000 and I got to thinking, Am I mistaken or
has the good guy always come out on top at past Wrestlemanias. That is
until HHH this year. Anyways my question/thought is, Do you think it is
possible that the reason HHH won is because he has a strong hold on what
happens in the booking? If I am not mistaken I think I read something about
him and Vince being real tight somewhere on your website. This may just me
being cynacal but it's just something to think about. Please post this cuz
I really want to hear your view on the situation.
That's not the reason HHH won at all. HHH won because he is that damn good. This years Wrestlemania was great because it paved the way for years to come. Forever and ever Wrestlemania main events have been too predictable because we knew the good guy would come out on top. Now that's all changed. It provides suspense for future Wrestlemanias. Face it, the tradition had to be broken sometime, and this was the year to do it. Not to mention the fact that this completely elevates Triple H into an elite group as he has become the only heel to win a match of this magnitude at a Wrestlemania. Hogan, Diesel, and now Helmsley are the only men to ever retain their World Title at Wrestlemania. And only legendary names such as Hogan, Savage, Warrior, Hart, Michaels, Undertaker, and Austin have been left to celebrate at the end of a Wrestlemania. Add Triple H to that list.
From: Mike F.
Have you heard any rumors of who will win this year's King of the Ring?
Good question but a tough question. I have no clue, but with all the talent looking for a push the possibilities are endless. At this date it's impossible to tell, but here are some names just to chew on: X-Pac, Val Venis, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, D'Lo Brown, Dean Malenko. Pure speculation, but I figured what the hell.

Please, oh please, tell me that someone out there got a good picture of
Trish Stratus coming out at WM2000, in that black laced-up top that was
absolutely spectacular. I am not taking anything away from Terri's or the
Kat's outfits of the night, but Trish.........words alone cannot describe
it.
That pic would make for some great desktop wallpaper, wouldnt you all agree. ???
Words cannot describe Trish, so I will not try.

YOU GUYS SUCK AT PREDICTIONS
Note from Rajah: Kayfabe is trying to console himself with his flukey WM predictions, cause
he REALLY does suck. But here's a note to Dustin BRA: we get them wrong only cause Vince tells us to get them wrong. More on this
on the next page...
The hell are you talking about? I did pretty damn good on my Wrestlemania predictions.

Wrestle Mania 16 was the worst eeeever Pay-per-view that i I have seen in my whole entire life!!!
I was EXTREMELY dissapointed with the outcome of Sunday's Wrestle Mania 16! Mick Foley was deserving of the belt and
he didnt get it! The WWF staff better think of some better shit and better match outcomes or else NOBODY will be watching or
ordering thier future events! mick Foley deserved to go out with having the title and capturing his life long dream. I (along with
many others) would deeply and greatly appreciate it if you (rajah?) could could contact someone (Vince McMahaon) about
putting together a good damn show that the fans will be happy with!
Blah, blah, blah, blah. I don't understand all the negative reaction towards Wrestlemania. Fire their writers (namely, Vince McMahon- yeah that's going to happen)? Nobody will be watching? TEN MILLION PEOPLE ARE WATCHING! Put the belt on Foley? Foley was damn lucky just to be in that match. Rajah contact Vinnie Mac?! I wish.
From: Sal
Rajah,
Hey! My name is Sal and I am a huge WWF fan and a huge fan of your site! I hit it at least two or three times every day!
I am sending this in regard to WRESTLEMANIA and to see if you were as disappointed as me about WRESTLEMANIA '2000. I thought it was an excellent PPV and did a lot for progressing future story lines, but on a scale of other WRESTLEMANIAS it was far inferior. Possibly my biggest disappointment of the evening was the fact that there was no real dramatic turns of events beond Vince turning face. Which leads me to my final point. Vince was asked yesterday about why he didn't have any huge "non-wrestling" stars at yesterday's event. He correctly responded and I'll paraphrase, that the wrestlers themselves are the true superstars and that it was about time they assumed their rightful place in the spotlight. Well, that being said, here is a rhetorical question. Why is it that the only person or persons that got a true push at the show was Vince and his family? That was a big let down! Why couldn't Chris Jericho or Tazz or Kurt Angle get the chance to really showcase their character last night? That would have made things a little bit more intriguing.
Anyway, I feel better having vented about the show and will look forward to a response. I will understand if you don't get the chance to responsd, but it would be nice to see your thoughts too.
Respectfully,
Sal
I know where you're coming from, but I think Wrestlemania did a lot for people getting to showcase their skills. Yes, it could have done more, but everyone in the main event gave it their all, and Chris Benoit really emerged as a top wrestler. All three teams in the Ladder Match put on the most exciting Ladder Match in history, and the stuff they did won't be topped until the next time they go at it. All six guys established themselves for years to come in that one match.

So, watching Wrestlemania on the ole Pay Per View last night(in Winnipeg
Canada) with a bunch of buddies, Intercontinental match about to start
when..... BLAM! Out goes the transmission....
So we leave it for a couple of minutes.... no change.
Call Videon Cable company -> wait on hold approximately 15-20 minutes -> first thing out of Cable company employee's mouth, "Is this about Wrestlemania?"
"Yes"
"OK, phone number?"
I give my phone number, and it was back just in time for the END of this match.
So I call Videon today, they are offering one of the following because of the problem (apparently it happened to EVERYONE who PPVd it in Winnieg):
1) Free replay of it tomorrow night
2) A letter entitling users to 5 free PPV movies (I think?)
3) A letter entitling users to the next WWF PPV for 1/2 price (which I
chose)
Just an FYI, in case anyone else in Winnipeg or Canada had the problem. I had to call Videon today to find this much out about what they are doing because of last night's happening.
Sincerely,
Brent
Canadians rule, Kaydork. Remember that. Just kidding about the dork comment. This is fun editting stuff
out AFTER you'll all done with. No chance for a retaliation.
Thank God I'm not Canadian.

Me and my friends have been having an argument for some while now. My Friend
Brad thinks that an 8 way match between The Rock, HHH, Foley, Big Show, Kane,
Undertaker, Austin (and some one else I can't quite remember) would be a
great match. However me and my other friend TE think the match would suck
becuase there are too many wrestlers in the ring at once and it takes away
from the actual wrestling.
what do you think??
You are right. You want a good match, throw two wrestlers in there. An eight man match like that would be ludicrous, clustered, unnecessary, and flat out bad.
From: Steve Glasser
I have seen all the Wrestlemania's from #3 to 2000, and I am sorry to
say that Wrestlemania 2000 was the WORST I have ever seen. I sure hope
they can do better next year. Also enough is enough with Vince being a
bed guy, it's old already.
That's your point of view. But you're telling me you wouldn't take the Ladder Match, the IC/Euro Match, and the Main Event over Wrestlemania XIII's Taker/Sid, Bret/Austin, and uh... Nation/LOD Street Fight? I don't think so. To say Wrestlemania 2000 was the worst ever just doesn't sit well with me.
From: Mets Got Game
Hi. Whasssssssuuuuuuuuuuppp. Is it just me, or does this happen in every tag
match? The two guys in the ring are down on the mat. They both crawl to their
corners and tag their partners. Then the face's partner comes into the ring
and beats up the other guy. Also, why is it called the squared-circle? That
just boggles my mind.
Squared Circle, as in the amateur style of wrestling in a circular area. Well, pro wrestling uses a ring, a square ring, so they've squared the circle. Hence the squared circle. Yeah, this whole damn Mailbag is poorly written but it's 3 AM I must be lonely and tired, and yeah, I'm just pretty damn tired right now and if anyone is still reading this it's a run on sentence at its best and this is what your English teachers are telling you not to do in school so pay attention and listen to them or else your writing will come out as poor and unflowing as mine is in this Mailbag which brings me to something I've wanted to address for awhile and that is the fact that I swear I'm a decent writer but it's hard to showcase that when all you're doing is answering question after question like this and when you type it into the Angelfire text account you realy can't even see the question, or your answer so it's very difficult and I feel that I write much better when I do the rumors which I just thought you'd find insightful but since you all probably stopped reading this a long time ago, I think I'll finally stop this awful sentence... now.
In a day and age where the average TV match is three minutes, that's exactly what you're going to get. That's the hot tag at its best.
From: Jimmy S.
I think Wrestlemania16 was one of the worst Wrestlemanias of all time[Next to
13]. It was horrible. They changed the whole tradition of a face winning the
Main Event, the matches were pretty short, too many tag team matches, and no
big suprises, it was kinda like a regular PPV. "No Way Out" was even better,
and this was Wrestlemania...
What Do You Think?
I think you know my feelings on this by now. Tradition, shmadition. It had to end sometime and because of this, next years Wrestlemania and every Wrestlemania after it will be that much more unpredictable. Not all the matches were short, but in this day and age that's to be expected anyway.

I had just attended the Ready to Rumble Preview here in Manhattan at the
theatre on 66th and 2nd ave. and I thought the movie was great! It was better
then watching Nitro and like Advertised on MTV, a WCW Superstar would be
showing up, and about an hour before, Booker T showed up and signed
autographs as everyone came into the theatre! its truly a must see!
Thanks for the info.

When is WWF coming to Australia????? And Who can I write to get an answer to the above question?
I personally have no idea. I would ask someone at WWF.com but I don't know if you'll get a response. Just flood their mailbox with letters and demand an answer, I guess.

could you please tell me who chyna is married to?
Nobody. Not that it's anyone's business, and I seriously wonder about anyone who even cares about such things, but she reportedly broke up with Triple H.
From: Woolhouse
Alright, here is a rather quick question that may sound stupid, but in my 16
years as a WWF fan, I have never been quite sure about it, so here it is:
When wrestlers do "run-ins" that show them coming from underneath the ring,
do the wrestlers actually sit under the ring for the sometimes 4 hours until
they can come up and make their entrance, or is there some kind of
underground tunnel system? Also, how do they know when to come up? TV
monitors under the ring, or secret codes from the wrestlers to them?
It varies each time. I know that in the Big Show's case (at St. Valentine's Day Massacre), midway through the card two WWF workers brought out a box, that actually had him in it and he slipped through it and under the ring when no one was looking. From there, they probably have a headset that lets backstage officials communicate with them and let them know when their spot is coming up and when to appear.

Rajah,
A friend was telling me how little he heard pro wrestlers make. Can you just give me a few of the Superstars salaries, PLUS any additional $$$ from Merchandising, Endorsements, etc.
Thanks
Matt, Williamsburg, MA
Depends on who you are. I don't know any specific salaries of midcarders, but I know that guys like Austin, The Rock, Bret Hart, and Hogan all make several million dollars per year. Most midcarders probably pull in a couple hundred thousand. Merchandising, especially in the WWF, makes for a significant increase though. Every time you buy an Austin 3:16 T-shirt, some of that money is going to Stone Cold's pocket. Popular stars like him, The Rock, Triple H, Jericho, right on down through DX and Tazz all make a good amount of money from merchandising sales. Wrestlers like Crash Holly, Gangrel, Viscera, and Steve Blackman really don't make much off of that though.

hey whats up rajah? i was just sitting here thinking about how i wasted $50
on wrestlemania 2000. yes, i said wasted. this event was hyped up so much,
and quite frankly, it sucked. the fatal-4-way title match, was the worst
main even for a wrestlemania is recent memory. dont get me wrong, i love
"the game" HHH. but lets talk about the other 3. first off, we have the big
show. this guy should not be main eventing. he would be better off as a
body-guard, or coroporate enforcer. this guy is not entertainig, and thus
far, the wwf has failed at giving him a worthy gimmick. the angle the he had
with the undertaker was just laughable. the undertaker is one of the most
awesome wrestlers ever, and i felt bad for him that he was paired with the
big show. undertaker has been getting screwed for years, and i think it is
time to stop. next off, we have mick foley. this guy should have retired
when HHH kicked his ass out of the WWF. he has lost in virtually every match
of 2000. people do not want to see this washed-up bafoon. the only reason
that anybody cheers for this freak is because of the likliness of him taking
a huge bump, and i dont think that that is even entertaining anymore. al
snow was right about foley tarnishing his "legacy" by returning, and i can
only hope that he stays the hell out of the ring, cuz he is liable to kill
himself. and last, but not least, we have the people's ass, the Rock. i
cant tell u how sick i am of hearing, "if ya smelllllllalalalala...or "turn
that son'bitch sideways...you know the rest. when he first came, the reason
that no-one like him was cuz of the way he acted. he has wrestled the same
ever since; punches, and clothslines, and a ridiculous elbow drop. all i can
say is lets see the rock act the way he used to when he was rocky, and lets
see how much the fans respect him then. the other person that i cant stand
(2 actually) are road dog, and x-pac. these are quite possibly the most
pathetic bucnh of athlete wannabes that the WWF has right now. they are
boring, small in stature, and truthfully i dont think that they could beat up
a seventh grader, yet they have them out there every night beating the shit
out of Kane, or Rikishi, or someone else that would not even be phased by
them. im just sick and tired of all of the same people being in the main
events, or being champion. even if a wrestler that not many people like
became champion once in a while, or even a new comer, jericho, benoit, tazz,
angle. see that would be great, but we probably wont see that for quite a
while, but in the mean time, i will still watch, and wait for something to
happen that is worth my time or money. and one more thing...do u think that
the undertaker will come back on raw this monday, or no? well, thanks for
your time. hope to get a response soon.
sincerely,
daniel
Sounds like you were biased from the start and weren't really ready to give it much of a chance. It bugs me when people knock X-Pac's ability so much because before his serious neck injury, he was the most exciting guy the WWF had. He could flat out fly, but now has had to adjust to a more grounded style due to the injury.
From: christopher "clyde" conklin
So what exactly is the deal here? Has Crash Holly's 24/7 stipulation been
added as a permanent feature of the Hardcore Title? Will the WWF address
this apparent rules change? Is it even possible for a Hardcore champ to
have a nontitle match now? It would seem that any time the champ was
pinned for an officiated three count he would have to give up the belt. Is
it just me or is this not a very well thought out angle? These nagging
questions are starting to bother me quite a bit.
At first I was wondering the same thing. To me, the stipulation should only be in place when Crash is the Champion, but now the WWF has made it a rule for the Title as a whole. Personally, I love it. It allows all sorts of crazy situations and angles to occur, and all the Title changes make it exciting. Some critics say that it cheapens it. To this I laugh. With regular Titles, that would be true, and if this were happening to another belt I'd be outraged. But you can't make a mockery out of the Hardcore Title because it's already a joke! It never was a real Title. No one had respect for it in the first place, so why not make it into a laughing stock. If anything it helps the other Titles. Some impatient fans whine about the lack of Title changes (despite the fact that there's an excess of them anyway). The WWF's answer to this? The Hardcore Title. A completely meaningless Belt that gets passed around more often than a joint at a 311 concert*. It's provided for some entertaining situations, and I for one absolutely love it. The best part: The possibilites are truly endless.
*Shoutout to Weakner for looking past the obvious Weirzo/Weed reference and coming up with the 311 one.
