rajah.com Mailbag
-By Kayfabe and Rajah

Alright, I have re-opened the Mailbag section with the help of two individuals, Kayfabe and Grandpa. Hopefully, it will work out better this time, as the above individuals will handle the great BULK of the emails.

Here are the steps to take if you like your question answered in the Mailbag section:

1. Please check to see that your question(s) have not been answered on any other sections of the page. Take great note of the FAQ Part I and FAQ Part II as well as the mailbag archives at the bottom of the page. .
2. Send a legibly written question or comment to mailbag@rajah.com. Please limit yourself to only one question per person per email. This allows us to update the mailbag more frequently.
3. ALL email sent there may potentially be included in the Mailbag. If you do not want your response posted, do NOT send it there!
4. If a name is included, I will post it along with the email. If you do not want your name published, do NOT write it!
5. Remember, it is impossible that every email I receive get posted on this page. Only the best and most popular questions/comments will likely make it on.
6. Also remember, that questions will be answered by either Kayfabe or Rajah, so any personal remarks should be addressed accordingly. The following color scheme will be used:

Rajah - GREEN
Kayfabe - YELLOW

why is it that so many of your columnists constantly berate or make fun of some of the curtain jerkers by saying such things as: this match should not be on a payperview or these guys suck(especially when it comes to mideon or viscera). "this is going to be the worst match" , and what not all of the wrestlers are in the wwf for a reason, they obviously caught vince mcmahons attention and they deserve some time in the spotlight. also, how many wrestlers can you count that started out as jabronis but have now ended up as maineventers, there are alot in the wwf right now shouldn't we give some props to the new talent for at least making it there while we sit around on our asses typing about them......i personally like watching the newer guys because they actually wrestle they dont talk for 10 minutes about absolutely nothing

Yes, we should. If these wrestlers weren't capable of contributing to the company and carrying a good match they wouldn't be in the WWF in the first place. Of course, everyone has to write about something or else there'd be nothing to talk about.

Dear Rajah,

I am a big fan of Too Cool. As soon as BC gets back, do you see these two men rising quickly to the tag titles, very slowly, or not at all, thus remaining a "side show" for the WWF? I think my self that the more Rikishi's popularity rises, the more Too Cools will too.

BTW, great site.

I for one hope that the angle with Edge & Christian continues through Judgment Day and all the way to King Of The Ring where Too Cool can get a deserved PPV Tag Title shot.

I thought I'd quickly give my thoughts on the SCSA/Rock "no talent" debate. I think that while those guys owe a lot of their success to their gimmicks and mic skills, they wouldn't be the superstars they are if they weren't able to work matches. Think about it. Guys like the Hardys can fly around like crazy, but how many times do they miss or awkwardly hit spots? Quite a bit, if you compare it to guys like Austin, HHH or the Rock, who never even no-sell punches or kicks, let alone miss spots. Sure, the Hardys are taking more risks of missing spots, but they have fairly flexible matches and also have considerable time to prepare for them. Compare that to the Rock and HHH, who are in main events twice a week, with timed-to-the-second run ins and surprise twists, as well as a need to never let the intensity of the matches wane. Don't get me wrong, I think the Hardys are great, and with some experience (and mic skills), will be amazing superstars. But if they were to fight each other next week for the WWF title, there would be something lacking in their match. Why? Because running a flawless and exciting main-event match takes talent and experience that many people take for granted. It's all in the timing. You just can't take the time to prepare for every move that the Hardys do in, say, their ladder matches. So if the number of moves drops, don't think that it's magic that the match is still exciting. It's talent, pure and simple. (Yeah, I know that guys like Bret and HBK could do it all, but they were gods and I think they spoiled us.)

Anyway, speaking of the Hardys, my question is does the WWF deliberately give them (and other young mid-carders) somewhat lame or go nowhere angles (New Brood, Terri as a manager, etc.) to prevent them from peaking in popularity too early in their careers? And will they ever be able to change their lame-ass name? Are they supposed to be young detectives?!?

You made some excellent points. And anyone that says Steve Austin isn't talented in the ring and can't carry anyone has never seen a Hollywood Blondes match.

Young wrestlers cannot be rushed. Yes, the WWF has a lot of talent all of which will be big somewhere down the line. But they can't all do it now. We can't have thirty wrestlers in the main event, now can we? Lots of midcard angles are thrown around over the course of anyones career. It gives wrestlers a chance to get situated and improve their skills in the ring. These angles don't always force them to get on the mic prematurely and sometimes allow them the chance to find their niche. A lot of times the angles will be there to get the fans used to them and establish their characters while showcasing their abilities. There won't necessarily be a window for them to look overly impressive and thus take off. But it does plant the seeds for that possibility later on.

Hardy? Lame name? That is their name.

I know I'm gonna sound very, very stupid, and to tell u the truth don't really care, but do u guys work for WWF? And who the hell is Lucas, Kay? Wuz that jus some joke? Good, I sound like a confused 3 year old, I'm sorry, but I would like to know.

No, that was just sarcasm on my part. You are unfamiliar with Lucas Swineford? He's only one of the best contributors for the WWF. Audio shows, magazine articles, interviews, the guy can do it all. And he's a rajah.com fan which is always a plus.

Rajah why are you such an asshole to everyone who tries to get on your site? And why the hell did you say i sent to 4 e-mails a week you liar. I haven't sent you 4 e-mails in my life. Sigh.

One, why did you send this to the Mailbag? Two, who are you? Three, what the hell are you talking about? Four, put the bottle down.

Yo Guys,

Been reading the mailbag, and have a few things to say. To start off, I'm getting really sick and tired of idiots who accuse the good folk of rajah.com of being in collusion with WWFE. I've been coming here before you guys were internationally recognized superstars who are lusted after by the adoring millions... and milions of your awesome rumour reports. Raj, I heard you were dating Cher- any truth to this? And Kayfabe... what's that I heard about you in a public washroom in Hollywood, anyways? Back on topic- any independent site will have biases to a certain degree! That is human nature. If you guys were completely unbiased, I would label you as heartless, uncommiting morons who are afraid to pass judgements, due to either ignorance, low self-esteem, or, my favorite, extreme wussiness.

Second of all, what is with all the negativity surrounding WMXVI? I thought it was a great PPV! The ending of the main event, in which HHH retained his championship belt, totally took my by surprise!!! In fact, I guaged HHH as the least likely combattant to come out victorious! At long last, a long title reign has restored some credibility to the belt- there have been a few too many title changes in recent years for my liking. Also, having a heel hold the belt can be better for angle development, in my view- if a face has nothing to strive for, he will quickly become trite and stale. There is only so much cooking you can smell until you get bored... goal setting and achieving is the basis of many successful face's careers! The undercard of WM was also solid- the ladder match literally took my breath away... no, wait, that was due to being temporarily suffocated with a pillow during the match. Anyways... the only match that left something to be desired, in my view, was the hardcore match- anytime a title changes 10 times in a matter of a few minutes, a little voice says to me, "Since when was the WCW TV Title in the WWF?"

A word on people who whine about various midcarders getting pushes to the top- for the first time in a long time, the WWF's talent pool surpasses that of their counterparts down south (well, they're not really counterparts, I know...) And the old addage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind- with record breaking television ratings and PPV buy rates, why change anything? As long as the storyline development leading up to a title fight remains fresh and avoids duplication, I have no problems with it. Furthermore, take Jericho or Angle for example (note- they are two of my favorite wrestlers, it's true!) Yes, they both have incredible talent, and yes, both will probably hold the WWF belt at one time or another in the future. But we all know of the time-honoured tradition of paying one's dues... Jericho's been in the WWF for under a year, Angle for under 6 months! I doubt the WWF will make the same mistake they did with Diesel a few years ago, from which they lost a lot of credibility with "Smart" fans due to his overly and unearned rapid ascention to the top rung of the WWF's championship ladder. Their time will come, eventually... but right now, hit us with that triple H-ssshhhhh.....

Lastly, I would like to express how much I enjoy it when you publish letters written to you by people who think you have a hand in the WWF's booking procedures. Hahaha! It's good to know that even people with intellects smaller than a retarted, junked-out llama can still learn how to type and become productive members of the internet community. Furhtermore, could you guys please let Mideon wrestle Mark Henry on RAW when it comes to Vancouver? And could you make it a Downtown Eastside Street fight, with a number of used prophelactics, syringes, and smallish hookers as weapons? Thaks a lot guys! Say hi to Mr. McMahon for me please! he is a smarty man! Oh, and please let the Fink wear a bikini for that same show, I'd like to take some memories home with me for future use, if ya know what I mean!

Hehehe keep up the good work guys... And Raj, I too was sad to see the mighty Oilers fall in the first round. I shed a tear along with you, I'm sure. Better luck next year, man... OH NO WAIT I forgot, the Sedin twins are going to be brutalizing them next year! Oh well.. Sucks to be Edmontonian! :->

Cheers!

Extreme wussies we are not- and it's called RajahWWF.com for a reason. We aren't a wrestling website, we're a WWF webstie.

What you said about the talent roster actually makes sense- I hope some people took note.

Sucks to be Edmontanian it does not if you are like Rajah and have become a traitor, ie. Red Wings fan. See, he's gotten his Cups the last few years so he's just fine.

You're afraid of me Kayfabe?

Come on....I don't bite. Much.

You see everybody, this is exactly what I mean. I don't know whether to smile and laugh or nervously chuckle and dart into the nearest closet.

Hey,

Great job with the site. Last night on Backlash, I saw the Judgment Day commercial and Kane highlighted it. Does this mean that Kane is going to get a push and get a title shot or is he on it because his character matches up with the title?

King Of The Ring promo featured The Big Show. He got tossed in the first round of the tourney. Last years Backlash promo featured Mankind. Mick won a midcard match. Armageddon's promo featured The Undertaker. At the time, The Undertaker was on the beaches of Puerto Rico with a margarita just chilling. See a pattern? The promos have absolutely no effect on anything. The answer to your question about Kane getting a push and being intrigally involved at Judgment Day, a resounding NO.

hi,this is to everybody concerning my topic, i'm a big mick foley fan.latley as i look through the mailbag all i here is that hes old and that he should have a "pete rose" routine by interupting hhh's matches.and that he loses every ppv.why woul u say that.(refering to past mailbag responces)for somebody whos given so much it seems you really dont care.

p.s. you have the best wrestling sight ever

I like Mick Foley. He was very entertaining, understood the business very much, was a talented wrestler, and had more balls than anyone. I made one little crack about the fact that HHH has pinned Foley three PPV's in a row (HHH owes Foley his soul) and it just won't be the same not seeing that. Relax, it wasn't meant to put Mick down. He's had a hell of a career. Please don't tell me about how much he's "given" because I've heard that song a hundred times. Foley was a good wrestler, and a fixture in the WWF in 1998 and 1999 (and into 2000) when they were at the best they've ever been and dominated their competition. Anyone that looks back at these "glory days" in fifteen years will remember Foley as one of the most important characters and that is just great. Good for Mick. I respect him and he made himself into a success. I have no problem with him. Sound good?

Hey what's up ? I must say that I love the site. Whole lot of stuff here that I'm always lookin to get answered or find. Keep it up. My comment is this. I was reading the mailbag stuff, and all I basically seen was people slamming Wrestlemania2000. Bad main event ending, short matches, wrong people winning. Tell you what.. I didn't expect hardly any of the outcomes in this Pay Per View. The hardcore match didn't cut it... I really don't care for cardboard stop signs being swung around. Rodney sure did some kickass bleeding though. But I'd like to focus on the main event. When it was all said and done, and Vince bashed The Rock with the chair... I was pissed... I wanted my money back. Why oh why must The Rock get screwed in EVERY single title match he's in. I am not a big Rock fan... matter of fact I think he's rather repetitive and not really that funny any more. But I'm sick of this "Rock getting screwed" crap. But then it sank in.... I just KNEW The Rock was going to win the belt. I knew it and i bet on it. But it didn't happen. And that's what I now realize is the best part about this Wrestlemania.. and perhaps the best wrestlemania of all time. Unpredictable ? Definitely... surprising ? Absolutely. Did I get my moneys worth ? As Austin would put it... OH HELL YEAH !!! HHH is by far the best worker in the WWF in MY opinion. He puts serious intensity into being a heel... and he puts serious intensity into every single one of his matches. All I can say is... Way to go Vince !!! I was extremely pleased with this one. And the rest of you who didn't like this PPV... as Vince Russo used to end every single one of his columns in WWF Magazine... GET A LIFE ! Later.

p.s. Y2J was not yet deserving of the belt when he won it on RAW... maybe cause he wasn't there long enough... but that big ol belt looked good on his shoulder.... don't ya think ? Thanks

Looked even better around his waist.

Hey Raj and Kayfabe - just want to say (for what's probably the millionth time you've heard it) that I love your site - I check it out at LEAST once a day.

I get really pissed off when I heard (and EVERY time I hear) Triple H complain about how The Rock couldn't win without any help at Backlash (whoever or whenever). Correct me if I'm wrong, but has Triple H ever had a CLEAN win in his ENTIRE reign as champ??? Since when does he have ANY right to say someone couldn't beat him without help? I completely hated it last year at Fully Loaded when Lawler kept saying that Triple H's win over The Rock in the Brahma Bull Strap match was clean and unaided - especially when it was clear that Billy Gunn interfered. And that's just ONE example!

I'll conceded that Triple H is an excellent wrestler - he's had a strong title reign. I just want to see him win or defend the title without any outside interference, low blows, illegal hits while the ref is out, pulling the ref out of the ring during the count, having Stephanie hit the opponent with the title belt, etc - the list goes on and on. When Triple H can win a title match cleanly without any of that stuff (or bitching out the ref after the match to get him to reverse the decision), then he can yell and scream all he wants when someone else beats him with (or without) outside interference.

Sorry about that - didn't mean to go off on a rant right then....well, yes I did, actually. I guess I lied - I don't have a question...........

He hasn't had any help, what are you talking about? X-Pac and The Road Dogg never helped him beat the Big Show. Steph never threw him the belt to use as a weapon. Vince never hit the Rock with a chair. All lies I tell you.

Look, the reason HHH says these things (though come to think of it I don't think I've ever heard him complain about getting beat or complain about The Rock using help) is because he's a heel. And he's a heel with power. He has a selective memory. See, this is where I miss Bobby Heenan or at least some announcer that would hype this fact and either point it out or attempt to justify it. Little nuances like this have been lost in the WWF.

From: Slapnuts3h
Did the Undertaker ever have an American Flag in his coat... Is this true? Then I heard someone say that is was during the Servivor Series '93..?

Either at, before, or both. On Superstars before the Series, he was introduced as the partner for Lex Luger and The Steiner Brothers, the supposed "All American Team" who were going up against foreign heels. The Undertaker was an unlikely patriot, but he was a big time babyface and was thrust into the match. At the end of his promo on Superstars he opened his coat to reveal an American flag pattern... complete with the circle of thirteen stars as it first appeared in 1776. This of course prompted an announcer (probably Heenan) to joke that it was probably the last time the Undertaker had been alive.

From: Ax
Anyone remember the name of the hawaïan shirted wrestler with the knife tatooed on his forehead and what happened to him (couple of years back, same time as HHH debutes)

That was Dan Spivey who was given the gimmick of Waylon Mercy, sweet southern gentleman/psycho extraordinaire. I actually liked the gimmick, as Spivey played it well, but it was a pretty dead end and eventually Spivey left the WWF.

From: Chris
Hey guys...great site. OK, I have been struggling with this one for a few days now. Who was that wrestler who dressed like a baseball player, and had his face painted like a baseball. And whatever happened to him? Is he still around (as another wrestler)? Thanks...keep up the good work!

The wrestler was named MVP (or for a time, Abe "knuckleball" Schwartz). He had a few vignettes and mostly paraded around the stands with signs about how he was on strike (this was in the summer of 1994 when Major League Baseball went on strike). He never really amounted to anything in the ring and it was kind of just a little running joke about baseball's strike. He was played by Steve Lombardi, who you of course knew then, and now, as the Brooklyn Brawler.

Hey guys! Great site! Talked to Raj a few times on Gooey enjoyed it. actuall ahe 2 questions sorry! First is A prediction is a guess right? So why do people whine if you get a prediction wrong? SO WHAT!!!!!!! Deal with it! No one's Perfect people! And the second do you have a pic of Hardy_boyzdiva? talked to her on gooey and she said you posted it once? ant chance of that happening again? Keep up the good work Rajah and see you on Gooey!! Thump!

Nobody's perfect? Well listen up, Mooney, I am what I say I am, and I say I'm perfect.... um, you'll have to ask someone else about that pic because I have no idea about it.

Jr's work has been declining over the past few months. He consistently gets people's names wrong in tag team matches. And mixing up moves. Remember when he called a chokeslam a tombstone? Or at WM16 he called Benoit's Headbutt "Crippler crossface". I know that most peole will say "not good ol' JR he's the best commentator". But WWF need to demote him Like Bobby Heenan Was put to Thunder in WCW.

Concerning Mike Bognor He wrestles in Japan as Big Titan.

My favorite is when he started talking about Bret Hart's dungeon. Hell, I say get Savage back and make him an announcer. Put him with Ross and The King as a three man team and I guarantee he'll liven it up a little more. Perhaps he could even *gasp* lend insight to the psychology of a match. I just want to see Savage and Lawler announce together again like they did for awhile on Superstars in 1993 or so. Now those were some good times.

Thanks for the fake Razor info.

I have been a loyal reader for about the past year. And i was wondering whatever happend to The Warlord and Headshrinker Samu. And can I apply for a job with you guys thanks

The last I heard about the Warlord was that he was retired and wasinvolved in a lawsuit against a Pizza Hut for something or other... seriously. Samu was on the infamous Heroes of Wrestling PPV last year and I believe is currently involved with Afa's wrestling promotion.
