| rajah.com Mailbag -By Kayfabe and Rajah |
Alright, I have re-opened the Mailbag section with the help of two individuals, Kayfabe and Grandpa. Hopefully, it will work out better this time, as the above individuals will handle the great BULK of the emails.
Here are the steps to take if you like your question answered in the Mailbag section:
1. Please check to see that your question(s) have not been answered on any other sections of the page. Take great note of the FAQ Part I and FAQ Part II as well as the mailbag archives at the bottom of the page. .
2. Send a legibly written question or comment to mailbag@rajah.com. Please limit yourself to only one question per person per email. This allows us to update the mailbag more frequently.
3. ALL email sent there may potentially be included in the Mailbag. If you do not want your response posted, do NOT send it there!
4. If a name is included, I will post it along with the email. If you do not want your name published, do NOT write it!
5. Remember, it is impossible that every email I receive get posted on this page. Only the best and most popular questions/comments will likely make it on.
6. Also remember, that questions will be answered by either Kayfabe or Rajah, so any personal remarks should be addressed accordingly. The following color scheme will be used:Rajah - GREEN
Kayfabe - YELLOW

Hey Guys
Great site blah blah blah..... anyway I live in the UK and have followed WWF fror a short while now, what ever happened to the wrestler 'Crush' because I vaguely remember him from my childhood!
Are you guys into video games? How about a section on all new WWF games that are released?
Cheers, Steve
I'm not much of a video game buff, but if there's enough interest surrounding them, I suppose Rajah will have to take it into consideration. So email him and let him know what you want to see.
Crush, Brian Adams, is currently in WCW as one half of the tag team "Kronic" with Bryan Clark who you may remember as Adam Bomb in the WWF.

Why did the WWF make the Rock drop the title to HHH so early? He only
had the title like a month. Why didn't they just let him keep the title,
i thought he was going to have a long title reign
On a similar subject, let me say right now that I've learned to accept this new age of Title reigns for what it is. Many feel that it's a travesty to have young stars like HHH and The Rock with four Title reigns before the age of thirty when legends like Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan held the belt an astounding five times over a span of five to ten years. At first, it's easy to agree with this stance, as there is a legitimate argument. But I've decided to draw a line. Let's take the year 1999. Let's take the Post-98 era ('99 and after) and make it separate from its preceeding years. Seriously.
I compare it to baseball. In 100 years, two players hit 60 HR's in a single season once and then Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa come along and do it twice each. Baseball stats have become ridiculous with offensive numbers at an obscene high that has never been witnessed before. More players are hitting 20, 30, 40, 50 HR's than ever before. Last year, Jay Bell hit 38 HR's. Now nothing against Jay Bell, but the guy has never exactly been known for his power. The ball is juiced and players are hitting homeruns at record paces. Average players are hitting 20-30 HR's. Good players are hitting 30-40. The bar is being set higher. Instead of hitting 400 HR's to ensure a spot in the Hall Of Fame, it will soon become 500. Right now only a handful of players have hit over 500 HR's, a once monumental feat. 25 years from now, that number will triple at the least. How do you think Ty Cobb would feel about Mike Lieberthal belting 31 HR's? Or Mickey Cochrane? Or Eddie Matthews? Mike Schmidt? Kirk Gibson? Even as recently as a few years ago, these numbers would sound asanine, and yet here they are becoming commonplace today. I liken it to th evalue of Titles in the WWF. It's a different era. Instead of having one or two title changes per year, there might very well be ten. Whereas ten years ago a dozen wrestlers on the roster may have had the honor of referring to themselves as former Champions, time have changed. All but seven WWF wrestlers on the current rosters have held WWF gold. Titles, like baseball stats don't mean what they used to and cannot be compared. It's a different era. Five Rocky reigns do NOT equate five Hogan reigns, much like 50 Greg Vaughn HR's do NOT mean as much as 50 Willie Mays HR's. So no longer will I compare any current Title reigns to anything preceeding 1999 as it is utterly useless to compare eras. The Rock era cannot be compared to the Hart era as the McGwire era cannot be compared to the Puckett era. And the Hart era cannot really be compared to the Hogan ear, just as the Puckett era cannot be compared to the Mantle era. Let us not even go back into the Sammartino and Hornsby "dead ball" eras, shall we?
In case you haven't been reading, it is impossible to compare today's Title reigns with those of yesteryear and that's that.
It's hard to say. The general consensus is that "the babyface chasing the heel for the Title is more entertaining than the other way around." But while this is true, the WWF is not stupid. They knew damn well what they were doing when they finally put the Title on The Rock. And it's not as if a heel can always be the Champion. Eventually, the babyface is going to have to reign as Champion. To me, the storyline of the Rock chasing the Title down is no longer compelling because he's already done what he's vowed to do and be the Champion again. So why do I care if he gets it yet another time? If he challenges for it for thirteen months, then wins it, keeps it for three weeks (one of which he was away filiming a movie), and drops it again, then I don't think he deserves it in the first place. Of course now the storyline has been freshened up with Kane and The Undertaker back. An argument can be made that HHH never should have lost the Title in the first place, but to be fair, I can understand the WWF wanting to have a babyface go over HHH. People had already started to whine about HHH's "long" Title reign and about how he prevails every time, so it was important for the WWF to give a show to the fans. I don't have a major problem with what they did, but they sure were asking for controversy.

yeah, one question. lets take dx. are they friends out of the
ring, like out of wrestling??
Most of the wrestlers are friendly with one another, but few are good friends entirely outside the ring. X-Pac, HHH, and Shawn Michaels are all good friends, and apparently X-Pac & The Road Dogg have grown close to one another over the years.

Hey,
I was just wondering who you think the greatest wrestler is of all time. i
think Ricky Steamboat is the greatest wrestler, in my opinion.
I'll always answer Bret Hart, though it's a totally subjective question.

I recently was fortunate enough to catch up with Kurt Angle in his trip to the UK. I was surprised that he let me in on the
storyline for the WWF. He told me as it stands the main event will definately be HHH vs Undertaker vs Kane vs Rock in a Fatal
Four Way Match. He also said do not be surprised if HBK interupts the match, as he said KOTR is planned to be the best PPV
of the year. He also told me that major things lay ahead for him, he did not say what, but do not be surprised if he wins KOTR or regains
Intercontinental Gold.
I suppose we shall see, Paul.

Why is Jeff Hardy's move now called the "swanton bomb" instead of the senton
bomb?
The move has been called the Swanton Bomb in other places around the country, but when Jeff brought it to the WWF they started calling it "Senton" and it stuck. Now they've gone back to "Swanton". Beats me.

In your last Mailbag, someone asked where Earthquake was. You told him
that he came back as Golga. I just thought you might want to know that
in the November 1998 edition of RAW magazine they did an article
comparing Earthquake and Golga. I didn't know untill now that they are
the same wrestler.
Interesting. I guess they were trying to cook something up there and did it as a half joke for the people that knew and half to hint at it towards the people that didn't know.

Hey great site guys! I just wanted to correct you on something you said in the last mailbag. When HHH dressed as goldust and shot the
fire into kane's eyes it happened live. I know this because I was there. It was also the awesome show where Austin sprayed the
corporation with beer from the beer truck.
OK, my bad. I could've sworn that RAW was taped, but I guess not.

What makes the Heros of Wrestling PPV "infamous"? I head Jake Roberts was
drunk, but was there more to it?
Well nothing aside from the fact that everyone agreed that it pretty much blew. It was full of tons of wrestlers past their prime and some of the matches were pretty bad. Roberts piss drunk appearance in the main event was just the icing.
From: Tito
Last mailbag (#24) a guy named Weakner told about how wm2k was awesome. I totally agree. People say mick foley or rock should've won
b-cuz they're fans who only like faces, not talented wrestlers. So they should be more open-minded to outcomes like hhh winning.
Backlash was awesome! It had great matches but bad ones as well. X-pac and road dogg get tag title shots why? What about the dudleyz or the hardyz? hardyz need a tag team title shot cuz they would make for a great ppv match.
Judgement day rocked cuz hhh won again. How unpredictable was that. Again people don't like it cuz rock lost, well deal with it. It was good that hhh won 6-5 cuz everyone expected something like michaels-hart wm12 with only 1 fall. But edge+christian should've fought the hardyz.
What do you think about a tag titles, ladder, hell-in-a-cell match between the hardyz and e+c? Or that match for the big title? New main event at kotr Please!!!!!!!! hhh vs. rock needs to be spiced up. maybe undertaker vs. hhh w/ rock as special referee like when sc was for kane/undertaker match a while back. If rick doesn't play fair, he's fired. What do you think?
And do you think kane, jericho, and rikishi should get tile reigns? I do.
Peace out!
It's hard to say who "should" get Title reigns. I don't know about Rikishi, but Kane will come close and Jericho will, in time, have his day at the top.
A Ladder Hell in a Cell Match would never work simply because it's way too gimmicky. In a Ladder Match the object is to climb the ladders and claim the object in question (ie the Titles). What would a Hell In A Cell possibly add to that. If anything it would detract from some of the stunts the competitors would otherwise attempt to do without a Cell in their way.

Remember the Tripple Threat Ladder Match at Wrestle
Mania 2000? What if both Edge and Matt Hardey grabed
the belts at the same time? Would they be forced to be
Tag Team Champions together? Or would there be a
tournament for the titles?
Well that obviously wasn't about to be booked to happen, but it's an interesting concept. I wouldn't be surprised to see something similar to that happen in the future, and the decision on what to do about it would make for an intriguing situation. I suppose there would be a rematch, the Titles would be vacated (doubt it), or depending on who's running the show, maybe the two wrestlers who claimed the belts would be declared the winners and Champions together. Now that would be weird.

I was just wondering what ever happened to Hakushi, the guy with the
chinese menu on his face. I thought he was pretty good and could have
atleast won a minor title.
Last I heard he went back to Japan to wrestle under his real name (I believe) and has not quite lived up to his expectations.

Hi. Just want to say that you do a great job with the mailbag. I have a
question that might sound stupid but it's just something I have been
wondering about. When the WWF shows limos in the backstage area, is that
taped earlier in the day, or is it live? Cause I thought all of the
wrestlers had to be in the arena when Raw started. It might be a stupid
question, I was just curious.
And as if there was any doubt before, a recent RAW revealed that many of the other backstage segments are taped, as we saw the tape rewind and start over again during a Stephanie/Vince segment.
Often times the segments are taped, and obviously the shots of the wrestlers "arriving" are not from when they actually first show up at the arena. To me, some of the segments have appeared silly for that very reason. Apparently, the WWF is now more "reality-based" and yet Steve Austin is showing up to the arena at 10:30 PM. Who the hell does he think he is?! That's grounds enough for McMahon to fire him right there, skipping out on the job.

I have started to watch Wrestling (WWF) again this last 18 Months, and think it is better than ever. However,
I think WWF are degrading the Title Belt and the previous Champions. I'm not sure how many times Hogan,
Savage or Bret Hart held it for, but am wiling to bet that it wasn't Five times, and I know that the Best ever
Champ HBK, and the Undertaker (all time Great also) have held the belt three times each. Do you not think
it a bit sad that WWF has seen fit to grace the Rock and HHH with more title reigns already in their short
careers, than these all time greats had in their WWF careers?
For the record, the 'Best Ever Champ' Bret Hart along with Hulk Hogan each held the Title five times and Savage held it twice, while HHH and The Rock are up to four reigns each.
Well I guess I kind of ranted on this earlier. At first glance, it does seem stupid and degrading, but this is a different era and HHH and The Rock cannot be compared to Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage.

Hello i really enjoy your page and i check it at least once a day.
Anyways i would just like to comment on the "fans" of the wwf. There
are your diehard fans who have been there since the days of Hulk Hogan,
Randy Savage and the amazing Andre the Giant. These people appreciate
these extremely talented men. Then there are the ignorant people that
just watch wrestling for the catch phrases and boobs the wrestlers now a
day would not have stood a chance with the greats in there day. The
Rock vs Randy Savage or Hulk Hogan vs HHH these young guys wouldn,t
stand a chance. thank you for your time.
Thank you for your comment. I don't know what to say, but the business has changed and while some people don't like it, most do. I love old school wrestling as much as the next guy, but the WWF is on fire right now, and I enjoy watching the unbelievably deep WWF talent roster do their thing every Monday and Thursday night.

Hi guys great site!
Just one question.
What ever happened to the old cages? They were a lot better than the newer ones, yeh they may have been a bit smaller but they looked like they would hurt if you headbutted one unlike the flimsy bits of crap they use now. The old ones were also a lot easier to climb and fight on.
Yeah, I definitely agree. The old cages were much better and they had to be easier to climb. I can remember making fun of WCW because they used to use fence type structures for Cages; now the WWF does the same thing. I don't see how they're easy to climb since the footholes are much smaller. But I suppose they 'look cooler' so out with the old and in with the new.

In response to JPardue, I think the Undertaker is one of, if not the greatest persona ever created. He has been
around for a long time and he is still flying through the air. I have been watching wrestling for 15 years and I am
15 years old, and nobody has ever dominated like he has. But the one thing that bothers me is that when I bought
a wrestling magazine ranking the 25 best wrestlers of the DECADE, he was ranked behind Hogan, Flair, and
Savage. Why is it that the writers seem so biased and automaticly think that since Ric Flair was the star of the
seventies then he had to have been better than UT in nineties?
p.s. I will be a wrestler and i will be good at it!
Well I would say that Flair, Hogan, and Savage all deserve to be ahead of Taker but that shouldn't take away from Taker at all. The Undertaker is a terrific athlete, and his gimmick, for its amazing longevity alone, has been the best gimmick of all time. And if you're not convinced then consider this: From the Undertaker evolved a chracter that won the World Title from "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Had it not been for the Undertaker, the Kane persona, who is good enough to be World Champion, would have never been created.

There's been something that's been on my mind that I wanted to bitch about,
and this seems like the best venue.
WWF goes to Anaheim about 3 times a month. Then automatically after that, they go to LA. And seeing as how I live in San Diego, this pisses me off. They always go on their "West Coast" tour, but completely skip over us. Hell, we're a bigger city then Anaheim. In the past year, they've come twice, with only one time being a RAW. Although, that was a HeAt/RAW taping, so it was especially cool. But is there any reason why they CONSTANTLY skip over San Diego?
Three times a month is an exageration, but Anaheim has gotten a lot of events, including a few high profile PPV's. I don't know why they skip over San Diego; I guess all you can do is write to WWF.com and let the voice of your city be heard.

Hey Guys,
I don't have any questions, only congratulations. Y'all are the best, and most reliable wrestling site out there. I had found another rumors site, but they haven't updated since April 5, 2000. Y'all do it every few days. Great Job!

Anyway, I don't know what Chyna's nationality is, but I also don't care.
That's not the reason this hasn't been posted; see, we get hundreds of letters a week, and only some can be posted. Sometimes a good question will be left out; don't take it personally.

You said the Hardy Boyz breakup would be handled the same way as the Rockers. But you don't explain how the Rockers broke up and I
would like to know.
But for those of you curious about the Rockers it goes like this. In 1991 the Rockers were a very popular team and had been teaming with each other since their debut in the WWF in 1988. They were always an above average team but had never won the Titles. With the Hart Foundation and Demolition now gone, many thought the Rockers would take over and finally be involved in the Title picture, but that wasn't the case. The Legion of Doom and the Nasty Boys were still on top, as was a new team of the Natural Disasters. The team began having a few miscommunication problems and WWF Magazine reported that the group might be on the verge of splitting up. So in late 1991 on Brutus Beefcake's Barber Shop, Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels met to hopefully settle their differences. It appeared that they did, and they finally shook hands and embraced. They each raised their arms in victory when suddenly *DOUBLE CROSS* and Michaels hits Jannetty with his pattened crescent kick (this is years before the "Sweet Chin Music" became a finisher). Michaels then took his fallen partner and threw him face first through the Barber Shop's glass window, a prop for the set of Beefcake's interview area. Michaels became a cocky, self-obsessed pretty boy and took on Sensational Sherri as his manager while Jannetty remained out of action with the injuries he sustained from the window incident. As 1992 approached its end Michaels was Intercontinental Champion and Jannetty was only then returning to action. He had mild success as he briefly won the Title from Shawn and became a co-holder of the Tag Team Titles with the 1-2-3 Kid (X-Pac), but soon faded into obscurity. In 1996 Shawn Michaels won the World Title and poor Marty Jannetty had but a three week Intercontinental Title reign to show for his singles accomplishments.
First off, that was just a rumor and I personally don't see them splitting anytime soon.

Okay i just want to comment on the the tag division. Is it just me or at Wrestlemania did
the Hardy Boyz and the Dudley Boys pretty much fight each other and take the majority of the
bumps in the match while while Edge and Christian were laid out on the outside for good
portion of the match. I will be the first to admit that they did help a little in making the
ladder match the best match at wrestlemania. But it just urks, yes I said urks,me a little
that the Dudleys and the Hardys are risking serious injury with the stuff they did in that
match while Edge and Christian lay outside come in toss Matt Hardy off a ladder and win the belts. I want
justice damn it.
No, Edge sat on the outside. Christian took a few ballsy bumps. Hey, with three teams in there, it's not exactly going to flow great. You can't have three teams all wrestling with each other at once. If you think about what you're saying, it actually makes sense. The Dudleys and Hardyz beat the hell out of each other leaving each team battered and broken, thus allowing Edge & Christian to sneak up the Ladder and claim the Titles.
