rajah.com Mailbag
-By Kayfabe and Rajah

Alright, I have re-opened the Mailbag section with the help of two individuals, Kayfabe and Grandpa. Hopefully, it will work out better this time, as the above individuals will handle the great BULK of the emails.

Here are the steps to take if you like your question answered in the Mailbag section:

1. Please check to see that your question(s) have not been answered on any other sections of the page. Take great note of the FAQ Part I and FAQ Part II as well as the mailbag archives at the bottom of the page. .
2. Send a legibly written question or comment to mailbag@rajah.com. Please limit yourself to only one question per person per email. This allows us to update the mailbag more frequently.
3. ALL email sent there may potentially be included in the Mailbag. If you do not want your response posted, do NOT send it there!
4. If a name is included, I will post it along with the email. If you do not want your name published, do NOT write it!
5. Remember, it is impossible that every email I receive get posted on this page. Only the best and most popular questions/comments will likely make it on.
6. Also remember, that questions will be answered by either Kayfabe or Rajah, so any personal remarks should be addressed accordingly. The following color scheme will be used:

Rajah - GREEN
Kayfabe - YELLOW

Hi. I have an interesting comment and question to make. I personally believe that Jim Ross only has a couple of years left as a commentator. I have noticed in the past few weeks, that his speech is starting to get a little blurred due to his Bell Palsy. Just wandering, if his condition does get worse, who would the WWF put in his spot? Some times the commentators determine how many fans watch the show, like I won't watch nitro just cause I can't stand Tony Shivione. I think Micheal Cole is good for Smackdown, but not for Raw. I was thinking maybe someone like Shane McMahon or Doc Hendrix, or maybe even having the first ever female commentator, that ring announcer for Raw. Just wandering your thoughts on how many more years JR has left, and if he did get worse who the WWF would put in his spot. Keep up the good work on the site.

I don't think you have to worry about JR having only a few years left. JR is widely considered one of the best commentators ever and while he may not be in his prime anymore, he still does a hell of a job. He's experienced, he does well, the fans love him, he and The King have great chemistry; I see no reason to make a change. The fact is that he's still the best in the business at what he does. Name a better play by play man in either promotion. Tubby Tony, Scott Hudson, Mike Tenay, Michael Cole, Kevin Kelly? Sorry, but none of them even come close to matching up with JR. Michael Cole continues to progress as an announcer, and while I'm sure he has a bright future with the WWF, I don't see any reason why JR won't be around for years to come.

I was reading through a few columns the other day on some wrestling sites and I noticed a lot of people were complaining about the long Triple H/Rock fued that has been running since WrestleMania. I keep hearing complaints that their fued is running stale and fans are becoming bored with it. But then I remember that these are the same columnist that, just a few months ago, were complaining that there weren't any developed rivalries like there were a few years ago. They complained about fueds only lasting one month and then a new fued would be developed to set up the next PPV. Well, the WWF decides to give these fans what they want with long and developed fueds between HHH/Rock and even Jericho/Benoit who have all had great matches at recent PPV's and everyone is complaining. I think these people need to take a stand and stick with it and stop going with the crowd. Personally, I love the HHH/Rock fued and as much as I can't stand The Rock, they have put on some classic matches and interviews the past three months.

Not only that, it's not like the WWF has kept the fued the same. They mix it up with gimmick matches (the Ironman Match was pure excellence) and throw other wrestlers into the mix to keep things interesting. I'll admit that the HHH screws Rock then Rock screws HHH segments on Raw and Smackdown are dull but the fued is entertaining as hell and one of the best things the WWF has done lately.

People will find something to whine about no matter what. You're damned if you do, damned if you don't. The thing that really got me was that people became upset when on a RAW a couple weeks after Judgment Day, The Rock defeated The Undertaker and Kane in a Triple Threat Match to earn the right to face Triple H for the Title later in the night. People whined that we were seeing it for the "thousandth" time, when in reality it was the first time in ages we had the chance to see it on free TV. Moreso, it meant that the WWF was saving Kane/Triple H and Undertaker/Triple H matches for later dates, probably to headline PPV's. So all these people were complaining about seeing too much of Triple H and The Rock when actually that match was in effect telling us that we wouldn't be seeing it again on PPV anytime soon, and that there are two other wrestlers that will still make for a fresh opponent for Triple H on PPV. I just don't get it when people whine about something so contradictory to their argument.

Rajah and Kayfable: Well I have been wacthing wrestling ,the wwf, since I was 3 and It is great. Herea re some good points that the Wwf should do right now.

1. BRing back Mr.Perfect and have a fued with Kurt Angle. That would be funny as hell

2. Speaking of funny imagine Jesse Venture working with King on commentary. Now that would be hilarious. King is the Ventura of the 90'S.

3.Last thing is Shawn Michaels should have a feud with Marty Jannety. Not wrestling but somewhat verbal and maybe for 1 match we could see the rockers at it 1 last time.

I disagree on all three counts. One, I do want to see Mr. Perfect return to the WWF, despite the already stacked roster, but I'd like to see him teamed with Kurt, not pitted against him. Two, Ventura and Lawler together would make no sense because they're both color men and neither one is a play by play man. Three, Michaels isn't needed back right now, and even if he was willing to return full time, it would make absolutely no sense whatsoever to throw him into a verbal feud with Marty Jannetty.

To Rajah and Kyafabe and gang..

I have a fairly superior knowledge in the world of the WWF.. I've followed it for years.. But there is ONE thing that I cannot work out and it's starting to bug me.. I know there is an answer but I haven't seen it published anywhere... When Jake "The Snake" Roberts.. started that now famous finishing manueuvre the DDT.. But what does DDT stnad for.. I know it definitley stands for something but I can't put my finger on it nor can all my expertise friends... Figure that one out and post it on the messageboard.. RajahWWF is the best damn internet site there ever was.. Cheers

DDT is a chemical (dichlorodyphenyltrichlroethane) which became referred to as simply "DDT" for obvious reasons. It's a type of pesticide that is dangerous to humans and banned from many countries as result. Jake and the WWF adopted the name for Jake's front facelock driver (for lack of a better description) finisher since DDT sounded like a dangerous name. It doesn't stand for anything wrestling related.

Hi there, I'm attending a house show in Richmond in October, and have been reading all of the house show results regularly to get an idea of what to expect. My question is, why doesn't the Undertaker appear at any of these (since his return)? I notice the Rock ALWAYS plays a big part and does more at these shows than at taped shows, mic-wise. You'd think 'Taker would need all the practice he can get to get rid of the ring-rust. But he hasn't done a single house show since his return, what's up with that?

The Undertaker hasn't been wrestling many house shows since his return simply because he's still not 100% and it would be silly of the WWF to have him risk reinjury when he's not yet fully healed for a house show. Once he gets better, he'll be at house shows more frequently, though, given Taker's age and the wear and tear he's sustained from years of ring wars, I wouldn't be surprised or upset to see him take a lighter house show schedule than others even when he is 100% again.

first i would just like to say that i check your guy's page almost once or twice a day. You guys have a great site and a whole lot of info, keep up the good job....i was wondering if you guys know what the tatto says on Lita's back just near the upper part of her back. i saw it once when matt and jeff were taking her away from essa on the smackdown show 05.25.00. it wasnt clear but do you guys know what it says? her hair covers it and if she joins the hardy boys do you think she gonna change the color of her hair?

I remember reading this somewhere but I'm racking my brain and I can't remember. I'm pretty sure it's something in a foregin language, not necessarily Spanish (possibly Russian?), but I forget. You can always check out her official website and see what you can find.

HAS ANYONE ELSE NOTICED THAT RIKISHI NEVER USES HIS RIKISHI DROP ANYMORE? WITHOUT IT HE HAS NO FINISHER. THE STINKFACE IS JUST A DISGUSTING WAY OF GETTING A POP, BUT THEY MAKE IT OUT TO BE HIS MAIN MOVE. WHY DOESN'T HE USE THE RIKISHI DROP ANYMORE? HE USED IT RIGHT WHEN HE CAME ON, BUT THAT MOVE MYSTERIOUSLY FADED AWAY. I'M ASSUMING THE MOVE WAS TOO DANGEROUS, AS IS ANY FORM OF THE PILEDRIVER. PLEASE FIGURE THIS OUT!

Rikishi has actually finished off Kurt Angle with the Rikishi Driver at a string of many recent house shows, so it's not that he's stopped using it. He just hasn't had a whole lot of opportunities or finishes that would allow him to use it recently. I'm actually glad he's started to use the Banzai Drop again, as I wouldn't really have believed him beating Benoit any other way.

While on the subject of Rikishi, let me just add my two cents on his recent Intercontinental Title victory. For months I scoffed at people who told me he'd win the Intercontinental Title someday because I was of the thought that with big men it's usually ends up being all or nothing. Meaning that they can impress all they want, but as far as singles Titles go, it's either the World Title or nothing else. And seeing as how someone as large as Rikishi had never held the IC Title (I think Nash was the biggest IC Champion in terms of weight), I naturally assumed he'd be no different. But I've been proven wrong so good for Rikishi. It's fun to watch old wrestling tapes and look at what has become of certain wrestlers years later. I never would have expected one of the Headshrinkers to become the Intercontinental Champion, yet alone "Make A Difference" Fatu. But Rikishi has gotten the job done and I love the Title change. Only in the World Wrestling Federation.

Hi Kayfabe and Raj. I was just wonderin' when DX will re-unite. I mean the 1998 DX;Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, X-pac(My man!), Triple H, Chyna and possibly HBK? I totally think this DX sucks. How could you even call it DX? They have replaced Chyna, HBK, and Billy Gunn with 2 skanky chics Stephanie and Tori w/ McMahons and call it DX? Now that makes me SICK!! Well anyways, keep up the good work on the website. And yes Rajah canadians do rule(Even though i'am American. I just think the guys are Hott!!!)

ALEX
D-GENR8 4 Life!!!
X-PAC ROCKS!!!!

The original DX is as good as dead. I seriously doubt Chyna will ever reaffiliate herself with DX or Triple H, and Shawn Michaels won't be appearing on TV enough for it to even matter whether he's aligned with DX or not. Judging by the way Billy Gunn was treated by DX the last time we saw him, a Mr. Ass return to DX wouldn't really make much sense. So don't count on seeing the old DX get together any time soon.

A couple of weeks ago, I noticed in one of the columns that someone had made a big deal out of WWF fans throwing soda cups and debris at the wrestlers. (Wrestlemania from this year comes vividly to mind.) Now, I in no way condone this sort of behavior, as these people are here to entertain the fans. It's just plain out stupid and inconsiderate to treat ANYONE this way.

Tonight, (5/29) in between commercials of RAW, I flipped over to WCW to see what their "main event" was tonight. Now, aside from yet ANOTHER title change, at the end of the Jarrett-Flair match, the fans were so riled up (or drunk, whatever the case) that they almost completely covered the wrestlers in soda, paper, plastic water bottles, etc. Matter of fact, in one shot, Jarrett got pegged right in the side of his face by a soda container of one sort or another. Now, I understand emotions running high, as that's what wrestling is all about. But this was inexcusable! Fans pay money to watch the shows live, but it doesn't give them the right to treat other human beings like animals.

Now, as I very rarely watch WCW, (although I do follow the goings on here at the Nitro and Thunder Reports) I don't know if this is a normal course of events. (I certainly hope not.) But I couldn't help but think about the comments I had read about improper actions by the fans. This episode made Wrestlemania pale in comparison.

I guess what I trying to say is this: Fans should just know there roles and throw their garbage out like civil human beings, not on the wrestlers. They are out there to entertain us, not put up with this BS. And for those of you who may not agree with my comments on the matter, or think that these actions are acceptable, I've got two words for ya: STAY HOME!

Well put. I don't see any reason for a fan to throw anything at a wrestler and attempt to physically harm them. It's just stupid, pointless, inappropriate behavior, and it'll get you escorted out of the arena. The WWF fans have historically not been as bad with this over the last few years, as I seem to recall reports that the NWO heyday every Nitro would go off the air with fans mercilessly pelting garbage, drinks, and anything else they could get their hands on into the ring. With the WWF, on the other hand, this rarely occurs.

Was Shawn Michaels unwilling to job his WWF title to Bret Hart at Wrestlemania XIII thereby forcing him to lose his smile ?

Yeah, pretty much. At least that's the consensus that most people seem to have reached. At Wrestlemania XII, Bret jobbed the Title to Michaels and the WWF expected Michaels to return the favor the next year and do the same for Bret. Michaels was injured in early 1997 and forefited his Title, though many suspected the injuries weren't as severe as he claimed and thought that it was something that usually wouldn't cause anybody to miss any time. But Michaels made up his mind, forefited the belt, and instead of a Bret/Shawn rematch we got The Undertaker and Sid instead. At least Undie got to headline a Wrestlemania and leave with a Title win, but we could have gotten better. A couple short weeks after Wrestlemania and HBK was back in action at 100%. The one thing we did get at Wrestlemania XIII as result of HBK not participating was an exceptional Bret Hart/Steve Austin match which Bret won, that actually did a lot for Austin's on the rise popularity and helped set up Bret's heel turn which would become the hottest angle of the summer and eventually lead up to the Survivor Series. At Wrestlemania XIV, again, Bret was (willingly) penciled in to return the favor to Austin and job the Title to him, but we all know what had happened by that time, and one Shawn Michaels dropped the Title to Stone Cold instead.

Hey Kayfabe/Raj, it's frequently asked why wrestlers are hurt by a missed dropkick and not by an executed one. If you watch when a wrestler misses a dropkick he lands on his back which "knocks the wind out of him" , but when they hit a dropkick they, land on their hands and knees by doing a 180 or backflipping, If you get this would you please stick in the mailbag, it might help ease some tension from the question.

Exactly. They also push off of their opponent with their feet when they hit the dropkick successfully. When they miss they just fall.

I have sort of an interesting question that I was wondering if you could answer. I own a Stone Cold T-shirt from a few years back, the one with the pickup truck and the blue skull in the clouds. At the bottom of the design is an Austin 3:16 license plate. In one corner of the license plate is the old block-style WWF logo, and in the other corner the date "Jun 21 2000" is printed. I was just wondering what the significance of this date is. My only logical guess is that it's the date when Austin's WWF contract runs out. It obviously isn't meant to predict any dramatic event involving Austin (such as a heel turn etc.) because a) That date falls on a Wednesday and b) The shirt is 3 or 4 years old and there's no way the WWF would have booked any spectacular event that far in advance. I just thought you might be able to possibly clear up the mystery of this date. Thanks for your help.

First off, I want to say Kayfabe is a mean, mean man. Let me let you readers in on how we run this mailbag. Kayfabe pretty much does it all. A few days before we're ready to polish off yet another edition, he'll go "Hey Raj, the maibag is almost done. If you want, you can do some questions but make sure you answer the ones I left for you." Sounds fair enough, right? Well, he always gives me the hard ones damn it. And as you may have guessed, this is one of them. To answer Tim's question, all I can really say with any sort of certainty is that the date is nothing important. It's definitely not a contract expiry date because Austin is under WWF agreement for at least another 2 years. At first I thought maybe they were trying to make it seem like a "real" license plate, because the real ones have the expiry year stamped on. But that doesn't explain the June 21st part. If anyone knows, tell us. But as far as it meaning anything important, I wouldn't hold my breath. June 21 is gone and nothing happened.
