rajah.com Mailbag
-By Kayfabe and Rajah

Alright, I have re-opened the Mailbag section with the help of two individuals, Kayfabe and Grandpa. Hopefully, it will work out better this time, as the above individuals will handle the great BULK of the emails.

Here are the steps to take if you like your question answered in the Mailbag section:

1. Please check to see that your question(s) have not been answered on any other sections of the page. Take great note of the FAQ Part I and FAQ Part II as well as the mailbag archives at the bottom of the page. .
2. Send a legibly written question or comment to mailbag@rajah.com. Please limit yourself to only one question per person per email. This allows us to update the mailbag more frequently.
3. ALL email sent there may potentially be included in the Mailbag. If you do not want your response posted, do NOT send it there!
4. If a name is included, I will post it along with the email. If you do not want your name published, do NOT write it!
5. Remember, it is impossible that every email I receive get posted on this page. Only the best and most popular questions/comments will likely make it on.
6. Also remember, that questions will be answered by either Kayfabe or Rajah, so any personal remarks should be addressed accordingly. The following color scheme will be used:

Rajah - GREEN
Kayfabe - YELLOW
Vegas - AQUA

Hey Rajah great site I just have one question for you. Why do the heels usually get to call the match.

It's simple. Most matches have a general formula, depending on the amount of time they're given, and what the storyline is. The general idea is that after a basic feeling out process, the heel will take over the match for awhile, only for the babyface to come back towards the end. Then the finish kicks in. Since the heel is in control for most of the match, it's only normal for him to dictate the pace and call a lot of the spots.

On the 25th November you posted an interview with Vampiro's manager, Bob Barnett. In it, the interviewer said "Well, WCW expects everyone to be Sean Waltman and take 20 concussions before they start complaining." I was just wondering what this comment was referring to.

It was basically a knock at WCW, who are infamous for asking or even forcing wrestlers to compete when they're not in the proper physical condition to be in the ring. This happened with Bret Hart, who was brought back to do several shows (not wrestle, but get physically involved) with a serious concussion, and they tried to get Vampiro to do the same. WCW has actually fired employees over the phone while they're in the hospital, as was the case with Sean "X-Pac" Waltman, and I believe the British Bulldog. Steve Austin was also let go from WCW in a manner that he didn't exactly appreciate.

Can you make Aree Jones write a column a day she's damn good.

I would make a joke or smart-ass comment here, but I don't have the strength. That's about the highest compliment one can get, and Aree certainly deserves it.

Hey guys,I posted this question before intending for it to be answered in mailbag 31 but unfortunatly it was not answered so PLEASE answer it this time,a bet is riding on this with my pals.Anyway it is about Mike Tyson being in the WWF as a guest referee in WRESTLEMANIA 16.The bet is about wether Mike Tyson decked Stone Cold Steve Austin or not,I'm a fan of Mike Tyson and am really curious about this,I did not have cable at the time so I did'nt get to watch it,my friend says he did but another friend says he did'nt and infact backed off from him. Also please could you tell me what exactly his involvement in the WWF was,PLEASE,I'm dying to know as I'm a big fan of both Mike Tyson and the WWF.I would greatly appreciate it if you could answer my question.

Prior to Wrestlemania XIV (14) in 1998, the WWF brought Mike Tyson in to run an angle with Steve Austin and then-WWF Champion Shawn Michaels. Austin immediately took exception to Tyson and got in a shoving match with him. Michaels then recruited Tyson to join him in DX, and since Tyson was to be the special "enforcer" (outside referee) at Wrestlemania, it appeared he'd have the match well in hand. At Wrestlemania, Austin defeated HBK in what was his last WWF match to date to become Champion for the first time. Shawn got into it with Tyson, and Iron Mike decked him, then took off his DX shirt to reveal an Austin 3:16 one.

Hey Raj and Kayfabe, Luv the site and everything you do with it. My question is in regards to the Royal Rumble match itself. I have no idea how this match works. Beforehand does each wrestler sit down and say " ok first I'll get thrown ou then u follow in 2 minutes "? The Royal Rumble is by far the best type of match there is today and i cant wait for RR2001 because of all the hype from it. Pleae answer this so next time I watch one I know how it works.

The Rumble is basically organized mayhem. There are usually several booking periods in a Rumble to prevent the ring from filling up too much. There are people that are getting pushed that are designated to last a long time, and there are those who know they will be there at the end. Usually, during the course of a Rumble, one man will go on a tear and eliminate everyone in the ring, or towards the middle of the match, the ring will be cleared except for one or two wrestlers. Basically, you know about how long you're supposed to last, and in most cases who is going to eliminate you. Once you see the guy before you go, it's time to take your cue and get tossed yourself.

Greeting to RajahWWF crew. I just wanted to point something out in reference to a question in Mail Bag #31. Ghost Guy asked about Raw being bradcast live and about the censors for bleeping. You must also remember, Raw is only live to the Eastern time zone. The rest of America sees it on at least an hour delay, so there is plenty of time to "bleep out" bad words/fingers/bare puppies. For example, I live in Arizona while my brother lives in New York. He sees Raw "live " at 9pm est. I see Raw at 9pm mst. which is a minimum of 2 hours later than the original "LIVE" broadcast. Just wanted to clear that up.

True, but when it's shown in the other time zones it is shown on tape delay; I'm not sure if the censors go and bleep out the language in question or if they just show whatever was aired on the live edition. For the record, Raw is live not only in the eastern time zone, but I believe in the mountain time zone as well; I live on the east coast and Rajah lives in the mountain time zone, but we see Raw at the same exact time because it's shown live there (at 7PM their time) for whatever reason.

There was a question on how the Headshrinkers turned face:

I remember that Yokozuna-Owen Hart (I'm pretty sure it was them, not positive) were goin on about how nobody could tak their titles. Albano got sick of it and said he'd find someone to fight em, they laughed him off.

Albano came the next week with the Headshrinkers, big shock since nobody expected them to turn good. Yoko-Owen were not pleased and put on the scared routine.

Well, thats pretty much how it happened, simple as that. All my facts might not be perfect, but this is the gist of it. See ya man

I'm not saying that never happened, because it probably did. That could not have been how the Shrinkers initially turned face, however. The situation actually seems familiar, so I'm thinking that it was the Quebecers who the Shrinkers challenged, and not Owen and Yoko, the reason being that Owen & Yoko first won the Titles together in 1995, a short while after the Headshrinkers had faded into obscurity, and over a year after they had turned face. So the scenario is completely correct, only it was the Quebecers and not the team of "Owenoko", as I call it. Thanks for refreshing my memory.

Why do a lot of people think Demolition are one of the greatest tag teams in wrestling history? They are so overrated, they held the WWF tag titles from 1988-1990, which doesnt mean much since that was one of the worst WWF periods in history. Their matches were so boring, all they did is pound on their opponents which is boring. If you want to mention great tag teams talk about Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood, Ole and Arn Anderson, Hart Foundation, Tony Garera and Rick Martel, or Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard.

It's true that Demolition didn't always have the best matches; in fact, most of them were average at best. But the fact is they were hugely over for the span of a couple of years in the late 80's and early 90's, and as a result they dominated the WWF Tag Division. Sure, teams you mentioned above, as well as others like The Rockers, The British Bulldogs, and The Rougeau Brothers, were more talented, but Demolition had more success than any of them.

Hey rajah and kayfabe, your site reaks of awsomeness(u know that). Now this makes my sixth letter and u still have not posted this up and answered this .Now I have deep respect for brett hart and vince but on that A&E thing it showed that one special on him(hart)and vince mcmahan can either be an ass or a genious but he was reveeled as a back stabing jerk!!Now did hbk know or nor?iI personally think he did b/c you saw how fast he was rushed out of there by brisko and patterson.I even think HHH knew about it.

I try to steer away from "screwjob" conversation since it's already been covered on so many levels for so long now, but to answer your question, yes, I think Shawn was in on it. Only he and the others involved know if he was for sure, but I, and many others, think he definitely had to be in on it. Whether HHH knew or not is pretty irrelevant, but many speculate that he did as well, and I'm not going to argue that.
