rajah.com Mailbag
-By Kayfabe and Rajah

Alright, I have re-opened the Mailbag section with the help of two individuals, Kayfabe and Grandpa. Hopefully, it will work out better this time, as the above individuals will handle the great BULK of the emails.

Here are the steps to take if you like your question answered in the Mailbag section:

1. Please check to see that your question(s) have not been answered on any other sections of the page. Take great note of the FAQ Part I and FAQ Part II as well as the mailbag archives at the bottom of the page. .
2. Send a legibly written question or comment to mailbag@rajah.com. Please limit yourself to only one question per person per email. This allows us to update the mailbag more frequently.
3. ALL email sent there may potentially be included in the Mailbag. If you do not want your response posted, do NOT send it there!
4. If a name is included, I will post it along with the email. If you do not want your name published, do NOT write it!
5. Remember, it is impossible that every email I receive get posted on this page. Only the best and most popular questions/comments will likely make it on.
6. Also remember, that questions will be answered by either Kayfabe or Rajah, so any personal remarks should be addressed accordingly. The following color scheme will be used:

Rajah - GREEN
Kayfabe - YELLOW
Vegas - AQUA

How come when people talk about Kaientai, they always capitalize TAKA's name? Is there any reason for that?
Have a nice day

I've actually thought about this before. I'm pretty sure that someone's "cooler older brother" did it at some point, and it just caught on (much like Hawaiian shirts). Hey, maybe it's an acronym for The A** Kicking Asian...or maybe not

Post script: Geeez, apparently no one got the joke there. Well, many people, including Kevin Greene and Jason Miller (MTR), demand that I tell you it's because in Japan they "often" (not really, it's more of a short type for ease in terms of reporting) capitialize the name of heels (some, not all). For TAKA, it just stuck, but as anyone knows, he bounces back an forth between heel and face. It actually helps play up the "evil Japanese" gimmick when the WWF uses it. I apologize if no one got the joke I made, but I was pretty sure that someone would catch it....just didn't expect to get an outcry of negative repsonse. I was trying to make the mailbag fun.

This question is not what you think. Although, I didn't see this in the FAQ's so I was wondering, why did HBK and the Hitman hate each other so much in the first place? Did they hate each other during the Ironman mach? I know they WERE really good friends before. So I was just wondering what the hell hapened there. Thanx and please answer this for it has been in my mind for a long time.

HBK IN 2001!!!

Well, there's really two sides to it. Hart was watching his credibility as a mega-face die, and he was watching HBK take his spot. At the same time, it was an intense rivalry. Watching your rival take your spot or watching one man stand in your way to superstardom is a tough position to be in. In the end, it made for some bitter rivals, but I don't think they despise each other as much as Bret claims to despise Vince. At least they've got that going for them.

Dear Rajah, Kayfabe, and Vegas, whatz up guyz? Love the site, anyway, on to my question. When wrestlers are nude on TV and we only see their back, are they really nude? For example, last week i think it was, The Kat was in the APA office and wanted protection but had to money so she showed them her puppies. Was that real or did she have something covering herself that we couldn't see?

It sort of depends on the entertainer and the context. Usually, the answer is no, and they'll have some sort of flesh colored covering on or just clothing when only the back is shown. With others in certain situations (often when the shot has to be of way higher quality than an average WWF promo), it's real, but this is so rare that it's a statistical outlier at best. All in all, it's usually a trick of the eye, but I wouldn't put anything passed some people in wrestling.

I was watching some tapes from 98, and whats with this whole "revival" of the NWA with Jim Cornette? First I'm watching RR 98 and see Jarrett, whose being managed by Cornette, as the North American champion of the NWA. Then I'm watching KOTR 98 and see Bart Gunn and Hardcore Holly as the NWA tag champs with Cornette as their manager as well. Was this like a branch off the WWF, or a revival of 80's wrestling, or even a rival to the WWF? I'd appreciate it is you could answer my question. Keep up the good work with your site.

Although he has good ones in most situations, this was one of Cornette's bad ideas. Cornette felt that a NWA invasion angle would really get the crowd going. He brought in a few brand names, like the Midnight Express (in a "new" form), and the Rock and Roll Express stopped by if memory serves. He would go on to include Jarrett in the fold, as well as veteran Barry Windham, who looked as old as the day is long by that time. As shocking as this information may be, the angle tanked. After a while everyone realized that the angle was over.......just not with the crowd, if you catch my drift, and it rode off into the sunset. With that said, I'd be lost not to mention one of Weakner's shining wrestling moments when his team, the Headbangers, won the NWA tag titles for a short time......, and if you can't tell how bad this angle is after reading that, I can't help you anymore.

Hey Yo, Raj
I love your site... OK, my question is do you think WWF makes Austin and Rock sound more popular then they actually are and make guys like Kurt Angle and Triple H more un-popular than they actually are? Because I hate Austin and the Rock but I am a huge fan of Triple H and Angle. What is your opinion.

The same reason that Pepsi wants everyone to believe that it's cola is the most popular cola on Earth, even though Coke's worldwide market share is so much greater. The point to be realized is that the storylines take quite a while to think up.especially the big ones. Ask anyone in the warzones known as e-feds, and they'll tell you that good angles take a while to craft. Unfortunately, the WWF's fan base doesn't get invited to these meetings, so they sometimes cheer the "heel" and boo the "face." The WWF's job at that point is to continue with major storylines and add promos and segments to get their wrestlers over as a fan favorite or "villain" because this is way easier to do than to scrap months long storylines over a silly thing like fan response (note sarcasm there). All in all, the point is that the WWF can do a much better job of future planning if they use simple techniques to get the fan reaction they so desire.

Hi from the UK,
I have a question which I think you may be able to help with. Firstly, What is the real deal with Road dogg Jesse James. One minute he had been suspended the next released from his contract or fired. What was the reason for this?. Also has he gone to another organization?.
Thanks

Most feel it was drug related, and if you check the sheets, you may see him at an indy near you one day.

Can you please explain what Triple H's nickname "The Game" is supposed to mean? Maybe it's me, but I just don't get it. He is a game? I thought a game was things like basketball or Monopoly or Mario Bros? Huh? In his theme the words say things like "Time to play the game" and "I am the game, you don't wanna play me", and this makes no sense to me. I know it sounds catchy and all, but how did they come up with such a strange nickname? What does it all mean? Please enlighten me!

Like I'm going to not answer a question that a duke asks....no way. What he's going for is that he's more than just one man in the "game" of wrestling..he is the "game" of wrestling. Look at the term game in a less colloquial sense. The man is trying to make himself out to be the personification of wrestling. In his gimmick: He's the best there is to offer. He's all that wrestling is about. He controls the horizontal. He controls the vertical. He's no one's puppet.for he is the puppeteer.so to speak. All in all, the reference is to the fact that he controls his destiny, and he controls the destiny of anyone that gets in his way. In theory..

Hey Kayfabe, Rajah, and Vegas;
Just one question. I have been watching the newest ECW DVD entitled Path of Destruction. On it, there is an interview segment with Brian Pillman where he goes absolutely berserk. Now I just wanted to know what the whole deal was with that. Was it supposed to go down like that. I remember hearing Shane Douglas saying something like "he's shooting." Did Pillman shoot on ECW and the "booker man?" I mean the whole thing with him even taking a fan out of the crowd seemed so crazy. Thanks guys and keep up the great work on the site...

Ah, I'm pretty sure this wonderful segment was filmed just after Mr. Pillman left WCW. Fortunately (or not), this was a worked event for the most part. Pillman had been held down in WCW, and he'd even had to job to Kevin Sullivan, who was the booker at the time (hence, the "booker man" comment). All in all, that moment almost officially began the whole shooting form the hip gimmick that carried over into the WWF. All in all, it was an interesting night, and it made for some great television.
