rajah.com Mailbag
-By Kayfabe and Rajah

Alright, I have re-opened the Mailbag section with the help of two individuals, Kayfabe and Grandpa. Hopefully, it will work out better this time, as the above individuals will handle the great BULK of the emails.

Here are the steps to take if you like your question answered in the Mailbag section:

1. Please check to see that your question(s) have not been answered on any other sections of the page. Take great note of the FAQ Part I and FAQ Part II as well as the mailbag archives at the bottom of the page. .
2. Send a legibly written question or comment to mailbag@rajah.com. Please limit yourself to only one question per person per email. This allows us to update the mailbag more frequently.
3. ALL email sent there may potentially be included in the Mailbag. If you do not want your response posted, do NOT send it there!
4. If a name is included, I will post it along with the email. If you do not want your name published, do NOT write it!
5. Remember, it is impossible that every email I receive get posted on this page. Only the best and most popular questions/comments will likely make it on.
6. Also remember, that questions will be answered by either Kayfabe or Rajah, so any personal remarks should be addressed accordingly. The following color scheme will be used:

Rajah - GREEN
Kayfabe - YELLOW
MTR - ORANGE

Here Vegas, I'm watching the Royal Rumble '92 right now, and they just had the Jameison/Bushwackers interview segment, and it looks like Jameison is wearing Dudley Boy glasses! How could Pete not mention that in his flashback? He really dropped the ball.

I guess I should start off by explaining to everyone that Vegas is no longer helping out with the Mailbag. He did a great job for us and we appreciate it, but Vegas told us that he simply was too busy to continue and stepped down. Millertime Rebel (MTR) of rajah.com Message Board fame has stepped in to replace him, and he debuts later this issue, but we'll never forget Vegas and he'll always be a friend of the site.

As for Mr. Philip Pirrip, well Pip, there is one difference between the Dud's glasses and Jamison's. Jamison's are real glasses, while the Dudleys' clearly have no frames in them. Also Jamison's are taped up to help his appearance of nerd extraordinaire. Buh-Buh Ray and D'Von's glasses are just supposed to look cool.

How the heck do you pronounce Kayfabe? Me and my friend have a bet going and it's a real important question. I think it's Kah-Fah-Bee but my friend thinks it's K-Fabe. Please tell me,

Clay The Face,

P.S. I hope nothing happens to the site again, I went crazy from not being able to get on here, all the other wrestling sites suck.

I think I've explained this before, but it's two syllables. "Kay" sounds simply like the letter 'K', and "Fabe" rhymes with the name 'Gabe'. Put them together and you get Kayfabe. I guess that means your friend wins. Also, before anyone asks what the term means (or for that matter any other), just head over to the Wrestling Terms Section.

Is there an actual Job in the WWF where someone is the Commissioner? And if so what do they do? Have Foley, Slaughter or Regal ever REALLY been a commissioner? (I doubt that) Is it just a Storyline thing or is there a REAL Commissioner who makes matches and stuff.

No, the Commissioner role was just created on-screen for storyline purposes. Regal doesn't actually make matches or have any legitimate backstage pull (although some would tell you that being a friend of Triple H, the two are conspiring to hold Chris Jericho and others down forever, but that's mostly fabricated). The creatvie team/bookers are the ones that make matches.

Hey guys. Great Site. I was just wondering if Jerry Lawler will ever be back commentating. The shows just aren't the same w/ out him. I haven't been following the news lately, so i apologize if everyone already knows what's going on.

Also, is it just me or does Heyman suck? I personally loved Bobby Heenan at Wrestlemania this year. He is really funny and I think he could be a good replacement for Lawler. I think people underestimate the value of good commentator and play by play man. I appreciate all of your guys' efforts to keep a great site running!!!

I doubt Lawler will ever be back since the WWF seems content without him, and they don't seem anxious to ever bring the Kat back. I don't think Heyman sucks as a commentator. He has a much different style than Lawler's which will take some adjusting from fans, but by no means do I think he does a bad job. I'm all for bringing Heenan back. To me it was a no-brainer when Lawler left, but it seemed like the WWF had previous plans to bring Heyman into the promotion. I would like to see Heyman be allowed to concentarte solely on the creative aspect of the show and leave the announcing duties up to the likes of Bobby The Brain.

Hay guys, I know it is a cliche, but: this site rocks! Anywho, my mates and I are arguing. Please settle it. I say that Shawn Michaels is the only man to win the 4 major WWF Titles, these being the Europeon, Intercontinental, World and Tag Team belts. I believe it is known as a Grand Slam. I am sure HBK is the only person that has done this. My mate though, thinks that Triple H has also done this. I don't remember him being a Tag Champ, or was he? Like during his DX days? (I didn't follow WWF then). Also, he reacons The Rock is a Grand Slammer, but I am sure that the first title he won was the IC, then onto the World and Tag (with Foley/Taker). Please help out, you have a much better knowing of the WWF than us! How many Grand Slammers?

You're right in this case. Shawn is the only one in WWF history to capture those four belts. Triple H and the Rock have never won all four. Trips, however, has a shot at the Tag Titles with Austin at Backlash (I'm writing this a few days prior to Backlash) and if they win like I expect them to, he will become the second man to accomplish the feat of completing the "Grand Slam".

Note: Pete answered this question before Triple H became Mr. Grand Slam.

I have a little bone to pick with you fellas, and it is as follows:

How come you have never printed any of my questions? Do you have something personally against me (perhaps due to my enormous feet)? Perhaps you are just stereotypically lazy Canadians? Or is it just because this is the first time I have ever written a question?

Now that I think of it, I guess that last part makes sense. Please disregard my first question.

My real question, therefore, is this. I always love reading Pete's Flashbacks. Where do I go to get copies of all these old PPVs? Do you know of a good site on the net where I can order them? If not, can you send me yours when you are done with them? I promise I will mail them right back to you when I am finished enjoying their video-ey goodness. Honest Injun!

I love the site, great job, you are the best thing to come out of Canada since Donald Sutherland,

Kevin in Toronto

First off, I resent being grouped in as a Canadian (though Canada is a fine country) because I'm from the good old US of A. Thank you for the compliment on the Flashbacks. I can't be sending out tapes to people, but I can tell you to go to Rajah's WWF News and Rumors, scroll to the bottom, and click on the Ebay banner. Then register with Ebay and search away for some old WWF Tapes that are being auctioned off. There are also several tape trading/selling sites on the internet that I'm sure you can find through any search engine. In my case personally I was very lucky and found someone that was not only willing to sell their tapes of every WWF PPV, but also someone to buy them for me as well!

As for your other concern, there could be a number of reason that your questions don't get posted. If you write list of question after question on completely different topics, we will not answer it since we ask very clearly to please only send one question. Or maybe it's something that we've explained time and time again like the screwjob or the Kliq incident or why - popular wrestler X - sucks. Or maybe it's just the fact that we get hundreds of e-mails each time we do this, and yours simply happens to get passed over when we're answering questions. We don't omit anyone's mail or opinion intentionally, but we simply cannot post everything that we get. Also, it may be that you're actually too intelligent to submit something. I mean look at the level of some things that we post...

hey guys what up! It's me Matt again and i just wanted to add a correction to your mailbag a couple months ago. For the record, you guys were saying that when Stone Cold flipped the car over with his crane at Survivor Series 2000.... you guys said no one was in the car. Well for your info Triple H was in the car and he could have survived that because whenever I get dropped 25 feet on my head while i'm in a car, i usually am fine after that. Mabye it's cuz i'm really drunk though. Also, whenever my car gets dropped from 25 feet above i'm usually in a convertable so my hair usually breaks my fall. Hey wait a sec what the hell am I talking about? Keep up the good work guys! And Dont do drugs!

It's all coming together now, isn't it Kevin?

From: Josh
I sent in a question two months ago, and it hasn't been answered yet. I was wondering if you just never got it and haven't gotten around to answering it yet. Just asking.

Like I explained above, that's just the way it goes sometimes. After each new issue goes up, we delete everything that we didn't get around to using to make room for all the new questions that come in, so in all likelihood we won't be getting to your question. However, in the near future we're going to start doing Mailbags more frequently, with the difference being that they won't be as long as the current ones. So maybe now we will start carrying over some questions from previous issues, but if it hasn't been answered after two mailbags either send it again, or more importantly, make sure that you're following the guidelines that we've listed at the beginning of the Mailbag. That might not be the reason you don't see your question, but I can tell you that e-mails that blatantly disregard everything we post above are usually deleted pretty quickly.

I have read some articles about Jeff Hardy being the next Shawn Michaels. I have never seen a Rockers match, and I have seen very few Michaels matches. The ones I have seen are the first Ladder Match and the Iron Man Match. What I have noticed from these matched is that Shawn Michaels is SO much better than Jeff Hardy. Now is it just me or does Jeff Hardy have NO ground moves. Also watching Jeff Hardy and some WCW cruiserweight has led me to ask this. Did WCW give their highflyers more freedom? I hear so much about how great Jeff Hardy is but Rey Mysterio, Billy Kidman, and Elix Skipper blow him away. As for people his size what about ECW guys. RVD and Jerry Lynn are awesome. Jeff Hardy takes big bumps and acts hurt for the rest of the match.

I say this and yet I am a fan. Go fiigure.

That's another thing about the comparison I don't like. I think most people compare Shawn and Jeff because of the way they both started in the WWF, each as one half of a high-flying tag team. Jeff is no Shawn Michaels, but frankly neither are any of the other guys you mentioned. There are few people on this planet that are as good as Shawn Michaels once was.

Hey guys, I don't suppose this would probably be on the site, but what would it take to work for the Mailbag?

Obviously, Vegas quitting/firing/etc. would be one. I was wondering how I may get the job, or be next in line, etc.

I'm sure tons of people have asked this, but I am serious, so if there's an application or something, send it over. If not, that's cool.

With other positions on the site like columnists and newsboard reporters, there's a specific "application" to fill out, but the Mailbag is unique because in general it requires a broad and deep knowledge on various topics. When Rajah re-launched the Mailbag section two years ago, he recruited Grandpa and I to help out because he knew us from Rajah's old Sportsonly Forum, the precursor to the rajah.com Forums you all know and love today. Grandpa has since moved on, and since then we have only recently added another person to help out, first Vegas, and now Millertime Rebel aka MTR. Both of them have a storied history with the same forum, so really this is the one slot we tend to give to people that we've known for a long time and can verify that they know their stuff. It would be a seemingly impossible task to select someone from an e-mail, not knowing who they are and how good of a job they're capable of doing.

Hey guys, I remember awhile ago, the WWF had a title of "King". The first guy I remember having it was a much slimmer Haku, who was called King Haku. Randy Savage beat him, and became the "Macho King". I believe Hacksaw Jim Duggan then became "King Duggan". I don't recall what happened to it after Hacksaw, and was just curious as to whether any of ya'll had any idea.

When the legendary "King" Harley Race retired in 1989 (Being "The King" was his gimmick, much like Jerry Lawler's), he lost a match to Haku, who then went about proclaiming himself to be King Haku. Duggan beat him in the summer of '89, and Savage beat him to become the "Macho King" shortly thereafter. When Savage turned face at Wrestlemania VII in 1991 he dropped the King name and went back to being the plain old Macho Man. In June 1993 the WWF held their first ever PPV King Of The Ring Tournament, and from then on the title of King become a once a year type gimmick.

I remember not too long ago (Ministery Era) 3 druids WERE unmasked, and they were Edge, Christian & Ganrel. I specifically remeber Michael Cole "The brood, the brood, the druids are the brood.''

That's true, but I was thinking more along the lines of that happening during the Undertaker's angle with Ted DiBiase's Corporation years earlier.

I live in Scotland and currently on T.V there is a WWF show called "WWF Classics" Currently it's showing matches around 1986. My question regards a referee called Danny Davis. Over the last several months shown Davis constantly cheats the faces by giving the heels the descisions. Gorilla Monsoon always comments on Danny Davis's cheating but Heenan always makes excuses. So, I wish someone could tell me what was the result of this angle? Where is this ref now? I have to say it was a pretty pathetic story and want to know did anything come of it? Lastly to all the readers of the mailbag who live in Scotland, send me your email address so I can write to you. Thanks.

Niall Gillies

gilliesp@ntlworld.com

Hey, I like that Danny Davis angle. Can't beat a normal-referee-turned-evil storyline. In 1986 it was Davis's questionable officiating which led to Randy Savage beating Tito Santana for the Intercontinental Title at the Boston Gardens. In January 1987 he cost the beloved British Bulldogs the Tag Team Titles to the Hart Foundation. He was, of course, in Jimmy Hart's back pocket the whole time. President Jack Tunney stepped in and banned Davis from officiating for life. So what did he do? Why become a wrestler of course. It all came to a head at Wrestlemania III when Davis and The Harts teamed up to wrestle the Bulldogs and Santana in a six man tag. Davis had to play the role of referee turned wrestler, so his offense was very limited and established wrestlers often got the better of him. He stuck around towards the bottom of the card for about a year, then when all his heat was gone, the WWF slowly made him into a regular ref again like nothing had ever happened. Now I believe he plays an important role in promoting Ohio Valley Wrestling with Jim Cornette, but that might be a different Danny Davis. I can't remember.

if you could would you be able to tell me what the term D.D.T. stands for to settle a long going disagreement, thanks

We've had this debate before, so without going to indepth I'll say this. Although the WWF has mentioned various cute acronyms like Damien's Dinner Time, Damien's Death Trap, etc. the move was actually named after the deadly chemical, DDT,

In reply to Sting never wrestling in the WWF (Mailbag 36) - he was in the Blade Runners Tag-Team, wasn't he?

He sure was. And he also never wrestled in the WWF. The Bladerunners tag team, comprised of Sting and The Ultimate Warrior (years before they became stars) wrestled in a few southern territories but never the WWF.
