rajah.com Mailbag
-By Kayfabe and Rajah

Alright, I have re-opened the Mailbag section with the help of two individuals, Kayfabe and Grandpa. Hopefully, it will work out better this time, as the above individuals will handle the great BULK of the emails.

Here are the steps to take if you like your question answered in the Mailbag section:

1. Please check to see that your question(s) have not been answered on any other sections of the page. Take great note of the FAQ Part I and FAQ Part II as well as the mailbag archives at the bottom of the page. .
2. Send a legibly written question or comment to mailbag@rajah.com. Please limit yourself to only one question per person per email. This allows us to update the mailbag more frequently.
3. ALL email sent there may potentially be included in the Mailbag. If you do not want your response posted, do NOT send it there!
4. If a name is included, I will post it along with the email. If you do not want your name published, do NOT write it!
5. Remember, it is impossible that every email I receive get posted on this page. Only the best and most popular questions/comments will likely make it on.
6. Also remember, that questions will be answered by either Kayfabe or Rajah, so any personal remarks should be addressed accordingly. The following color scheme will be used:

Rajah - GREEN
Kayfabe - YELLOW
MTR - PURPLE

Hey Yo! Kayfabe, You mentioned Shawn Michaels was in the WWF for his entire career, but in all actuality he started his career in the AWA with Marty Jannety in the first version of The Rockers. Back then, AWA was part of the Big 3 along with WWF and NWA. Now my question is, are their any other former AWA wrestlers currently under contract with the WWF/WCW?

That's true, but I was speaking in the context of when Shawn was a star and I was comparing him to other wrestlers that had switched back and forth between the WWF and WCW often, something Shawn never did. No wrestler remains in one promotion his entire career. It's been a decade since the AWA has folded now, and at the time most of their talent flocked to either WCW or the WWF, but I can't think of any current WWFE stars that were in the AWA off the top of my head.

I just wanted to give more info about the below:

>From: cooldude >I wont suck up to you guys just to get my question posted....I just wanted to know if there is a titontron in the house shows...and if there is, what does it look like?

>Kayfabe: I don't think so, no. There's probably just a standard aisle like they had in the old days, but I'm sure the WWF spruces it up a little and does some cool things with the lighting.

I have been to 3 house shows in Anaheim and what they do there is come out where the hockey players do and all there is is a black sheet covering the entrance way so you can't see in the locker room, and they usually hang a lighting fixture over the ring, under the overhead video screen. The lighting thing shoots off pyro at the beginning of the show. As for the TitanTron videos, I have seen them played on the video screen one of the three times that I've been to house shows.

Yep, sounds about how I imagined it.

hey, no butt kissing [sorry] and just a comment and a question. Ludvig Borga actually won his last boxing match but he is a rather large man and very slow. He also competed in a UFC and got slaughter. But my question is, the WWF released him because he messed up his ankle so badly that it would never fully heal and he would never be as good as he was then. However, why can he compete in UFC and boxing if he has a bad ankle? Was there another reason why the WWF released him? There's a billion other questions I want to know the answers to but I'm suppose to limit it to 1. If you can't answer this next question or don't have the time, just say don't know. Why did the following matches NOT take place.
- Sensational Sherri and Sapphire at SUmmerslam 1989 or 1990
- Bam Bam Bigelow and Kamala at WM 9. [Both were in Las Vegas for the week]
- Bulldog and Bezerker at WM 8?

The first one went along with an angle that was part of the show, and the other two were cut due to time constraints or general lack of interest depending on who you ask. With Borga, I think the WWF just wanted to use him for the time being, as Borga's push coincided with Lex Luger's "USA vs. The World" push. Borga's ankle was severely injured and was going to take a long time to heal, and by then that angle would have been a thing of the past.

A little thing that grabbed my concentration during math class. The WWF Title is also called the World Heavyweight title, so would that mean light-heavyweights like Jerry Lynn, Crash Holly, Dean Malenko, and the rest of them can't win it? Chris Jericho held the Cruiserweight title and (for 5 minutes) the World Heavyweight Title. Just want to ask you

No, everyone is technically eligible for the Title. You're confusing wrestling with a sport that as actual rules and regulations.

I noticed that someone asked about HHH being the only person he can think of that won the I.C Title . You answered with Pedro Morales being the first and HHH being the second . I actually do believe that The Ultimate Warrior did the same thing . So wouldn't HHH be the third man to have this feat . I may be wrong but I can recall Warrior winning the I.C Title after his one title reign as WWF Champion .

Nope. The Warrior won the World Title while he was IC Champ. He then forefited the IC Title, and never regained it.

Hey guys; great site! On to the ?: Where was Pete Rose during Wrestlemania X-Seven? After his annual humorous "feud" with the Big Red Machine, it seemed that he would be destined to make an appearance at the grandaddy of 'em all. I know you've commented on this, but I don't remember the answer.....please help.

Hey, it's got to end sometime. Apparently Rose and the WWF couldn't agree on Rose's monetary compensation for this year, so Rose ended up not doing the show.

WHY DID THE WWF RUIN KANE? I REMEMBER WHEN HE WAS A VERY DESTRUCTIVE FORCE IN THE WWF, AND WHEN HE WAS THE WWF CHAMPION, BUT NOW THEY MESS HIM UP. AND WILL HE EVER GET A SLEEVE BACK ON HIS OUTFIT, IF YOU REMEMBER HIS RIGHT ARM WAS SUPPOSED TO BE BURNED! I SUGGEST THEY TURN KANE BACK TO THE DANGEROUS FORCE HE CAME AS IN THE FIRST PLACE!! Now me and my friend have been arguing, has Kane ever been in an official HELL IN A CELL match? thank you for your time.

There's no such thing as backward progression. Kane's character is evolving. It's only natural. As for the Hell In A Cell, I believe he was indeed in one on Raw against Mankind in the summer of 1998, but I could be wrong.

hey on your new mailbag #37 i saw a question where someone asked when Hacksaw Jim Duggan became king. They replied that he beat haku, who beat harley race for it. however, i remember that after hulk hogan beat harley race it forced him into retirement , in which bobby heenan was concerned and mad at hogan. heenan announced that he would have a new king, which he presented haku, who was beat by duggan. duggan was then later beat by macho man when he cheated with the sceptor or crown by hitting duggan in the back of his head. he then preceeded to give duggan 3 elbows off of the top after the match.well i hope u can post this in the mailbag to clear this up. by the way i love the site, keep up the good work.

I think this may be one of those times when parts of both stories are right. Race did indeed lose to Hogan in what was billed as his retirement match, but at the 1989 Royal Rumble, he came back for one last match to put Haku over. Whether the crown was actually on the line or not, it may have been an unofficial "passing of the torc... er, crown", so to speak.

I recently watched Wrestlemania 12 (HBK-Hitman Ironman Match) and noticed something weird. At one point in the show, I think immediately before HHH gets squashed by the Warrior (ironic, isn't it?) Diesal cuts his usual bold, annoying promo about how he doesn't sweat the small stuff, or the big stuff, and Undertaker is a big obstacle, blah blah blah. What interested me was after the interview, he yelled out an incoherent phrase directed at someone off camera, that sounded like "Ima getchoo!" Can anybody interpret this phrase, and who it was directed to? Thanks.

By the way, I noticed a reader writing in about gay wrestlers, and I had to give my take on an angle that I felt bristled with homosexual overtones: Raven's WCW Flock. The angle was pure genius in that everything was implied, but fairly obvious, the clues:

-Saturn's sadomasochistic chained clothing
-Kidman's "little boy lost" look, which crys out "runaway"
-The effeminate looks of Kidman, Hammer, and Lodi (who would go on to his more controversial gay tag team with Lenny Lane)
-Raven repeatedly smiling while being beaten up by other men, such as when he passed out from the Crippler Crossface
-Stevie Richard's clear lust of Raven, constantly desiring to prove his worth to his leader
-The group is constantly referred to as outcasts, young Generation Xer's who have withdrawn from a society prejudiced against them

From this perspective, the angle garners a serious social significance. I've heard that Raven himself designed and carried through with the angle, which would make him one of the most cerebral men in wrestling.

I don't recall that Diesel interview, so I have no idea. I didn't really follow WCW during the whole Flock angle, but I must say those are some pretty impressive observations. Now there's something to think about...

Hey guys, I got a point to make so bear with me :-) I can understand why the wwf is reluctant to tour europe but I think that when wcw is up and running they should deffinitly go on a european tour, for the following reasons.
- While wcw is unlikely to sell out any arenas in the states until people become more familiar with it, they'll be gauranteed to sell out any arena in wrestling starved europe. I mean come on, inserrextion was just a 3hour house show and it sold out in 90 minutes.
- They'll promote awarness of the brand across europe. Whether you like it our hate it everyone's heard of the wwf. The same can't be said for wcw, but a european tour would greatly promote the brand.
- They'll encourage european tv companies to "pick up" wcw. This is the most important point. The old wcw was broadcasted hardly anyware in europe. If wcw do a high profile european tour it will make the european tv networks take interest in something they probably consider uniquely american.
WCW has a chance to be a true worldwide company, unlike wwf. Hopefully they'll take it
Thanks,
V-man.
P.S. Just in case you haven't realised I'm from europe-more specificly I'm Irish (And damn proud of it !)

Never did I think we'd see the day that Tom Zenk's cousin is writing into the Mailbag. I actually don't think that's a bad idea at all, but I can almost guarantee it won't happen, just because of the cost of a European tour, and Vince's reluctance to do anything significant outside the US and Canada.
