| rajah.com Mailbag -By Kayfabe and Rajah |
Alright, I have re-opened the Mailbag section with the help of two individuals, Kayfabe and Grandpa. Hopefully, it will work out better this time, as the above individuals will handle the great BULK of the emails.
Here are the steps to take if you like your question answered in the Mailbag section:
1. Please check to see that your question(s) have not been answered on any other sections of the page. Take great note of the FAQ Part I and FAQ Part II as well as the mailbag archives at the bottom of the page. .
2. Send a legibly written question or comment to mailbag@rajah.com. Please limit yourself to only one question per person per email. This allows us to update the mailbag more frequently.
3. ALL email sent there may potentially be included in the Mailbag. If you do not want your response posted, do NOT send it there!
4. If a name is included, I will post it along with the email. If you do not want your name published, do NOT write it!
5. Remember, it is impossible that every email I receive get posted on this page. Only the best and most popular questions/comments will likely make it on.
6. Also remember, that questions will be answered by either Kayfabe or Rajah, so any personal remarks should be addressed accordingly. The following color scheme will be used:Rajah - GREEN
Kayfabe - YELLOW
MTR - PURPLE

Hey dudez, whats up?" alrite, i gotta really good question...here i go!
I have seen Madusa in WCW, and lemme tell you, she rocks! but , what exactly happened in the WWF w/ her? She threw the WWF Womens belt when she had it in the trash can, when she went to WCW ?(which, by the way, going to WCW ruined her career cuz WCW gave her absolutely barely any airtime)...but wuz was this some sort of storyline or was it for real?
No, it was for real.

Hey guys great sight. My question is way back in the 1980's, was Jake "the
snake" Roberts a part of the Legion of Doom with the Road Warriors? Who else
was part of that group.
No, the confusion there stems from the fact that somewhere down south (I want to say Memphis) in the early to mid 80's, Jake was part of a stable called the Legion Of Doom. When the Road Warriors, Hawk and Animal, jumped to the WWF from the NWA in 1990, the WWF wasn't allowed to use the Road Warrior monicker, so they called them the Legion Of Doom, the name of the old stable they had also been a part of. Jake was never a third member of LOD or anything like that.

Hey Rajah, Kayfabe and MTR,
Just a simple question about my favourite wrestler. I'm a huge Hardcore Holly mark (yes, we do exist), and I was wondering when the hell the WWF was going to get around to pushing him? I mean, he is the epitome of a good worker - he jobs all the time, to just about anyone the WWF asks (Tazz, Regal, among others) and always puts the guys over in good matches, making them look good. He has been with the company since his Thurman "Sparky" Pluggs days, and has never really had a serious push. I don't think he's held any titles other than the IC and the Tag Titles for about a minute. However, last year before Angle broke his arm, I read that the WWF was extremely high on him, and he actually had a title shot on Heat against Triple H one night. When he came back, they started up an angle with his forearm where he could knock out just about anybody with is forearm, similar to the Lex Luger angle from way back. However, it seems anytime they start a push with him, it ends fairly quickly with little to no explanation, and they use him in all kinds of spots. For instance, a few weeks ago, Holly beat Angle clean (except for a little distraction from Benoit), and in the same week I believe he almost beat both Acolytes on his own until Drunk Crash drop kicked his ass from the top rope. Then, he got in to that whole angle against the Dudley Boyz, but instead of facing them at KOTR, the WWF chose to put that waste of space Spike in a tag title match against Kane. Why should Spike get the pay off when the Hollies had worked the angle well for an entire month? Then, finally on Raw, Hardcore jobs to Tazz, basically after he kicks his ass, and Tazz straps on the Tazzmission. I'm guess that was a little push before Tough Enough, but still. Do you think the WWF is ever planning on giving a little consistency and giving him anything of a significant push? I mean even way back when he was feuding with Jericho/Chyna, the angle really just focussed on them. Well, thanks for listening to me bitch, and give me your take on the Big Shot.
I like Hardcore, but some guys just settle into a certain spot and never become anything more. He seems to be one of those guys. If he hasn't cracked that upper midcard by now, I doubt he ever will. He's become a jobber to the stars and with more and more talent in the WWF locker room, it's only going to get harder and harder to do something about it.

Kayfabe, I just wanted to make a slight amendment to your previous mailbag (39) and let you and the other mailbag readers know that Kurt Angle did indeed wear his real Olympic metals for his first couple of months in the WWF...Oh it's true it's true... I remember seeing several interviews where Kurt recalled how stupid that was - In case he lost them, damaged them, etc...
Also, just wanted to get your thoughts on a Rocky heel turn. Personally I thought he was the man as the Corporate Champion and his cocky, arrogant attitude fit that role perfectly. I don't know...I've just been wishing for a Rock heel turn for a long time, and frankly I'd love to see him turn on HHH after his feud with Austin...two bird with one stone...Rock is a heel, HHH now a mega face. Anyway, my ranting aside, whats your thoughts on the whole Rock heel turn?
Oh yea, CANADA ROCKS!!!
And all this time I thought Cleveland rocked. I like the old heel Rock character a lot too, and I'm sure we'll see it surface again someday, but for the forseeable future he's going to be a babyface and that's just the way it has to be.

Just wondering... I have never seen Bret Hart blade in a match. Has he
ever bladed in a match? Thanks
Oh yeah, I'm sure of it. You don't go twenty-three years in the wrestling business, wrestling literally thousands of matches in dozens of countries all over the world, including a lot of time being a main draw for the top wrestling company in the world, without blading at least once. Even if Bret let his scientific wrestling do the talking for him and didn't need to rely on bloodshed to get a match over, he's had to have bladed at some point. Off the top of my head I can recall matches with Roddy Piper and Davey Boy Smith which featured Bret wearing the crimson mask. I'm sure there are plenty of other obscure matches where it's happened as well.

Hey Guys...
I have a pretty good question. Well, i think its good. It's something that has been on my mind for ages. I've lost many a nights sleep over it. Infact ive often woken up in cold sweats... then i realised that i was dreaming, well having a nightmare, about Billy Gunn messing up every move.
What do you think about e-feds and how they effect the way people see wrestling? Do you think WWF actually researches e-federations to find story lines? And most of all, what does WWF have to gain by shutting down e-federations that include referances to the WWF? Its not as if there losing any money or ratings because of it.
I wasn't aware they were shutting down e-feds. I know they've had a few websites removed, but I don't think they're particularly against e-feds. I seriously doubt they go to e-fed's for storyline ideas. I would hope not. These are professional writers; I doubt they need to lift ideas from an inexperienced 14 year old with too much time on his hands. You'd have to ask them why they do take it upon themselves to shut down certain sites. I don't see how it's detremental to their product, and it certainly doesn't take any money out of their pockets. If anything, I would tend to think an entire website devoted to their company would only help them, but then again, I'm not privy to their true motivations.

Hey there, great site etc
The other day I hired IYH: Mind Games (which was pretty crap apart from the main event) and in the first match The Sandman and Tommy Dreamer were at ringside. The Sandman crushed a beer can on his head and then after that they were nowhere to be seen. Was this part of the ECW invasion angle or were they just there to get some publicity? Vince never mentioned ECW by name so I was thinking it was publicity but I'm not sure.

Hey guys. i've been a long time visitor to your site. Anyway I've got some
info for you bout Angle's Olympic Medals. First off he wares 2 and he only won
one. Second the medals he ware are all gold and have red ribbon, the 96
olympic medals had green ribbon, and had the olympic rings engraved on them in
color. Third, Angle himself told me that he gave his mother the medal. (I met
him in 97 the summer after he won it at Station Square in Pittsburgh, where I
live.) So that should settle Sean's debate. The next tidbit is for
choudhury3:16 and you 3, about the screw job in 97. I bought the HBK shoot
tape from RFVideo, and he gives a very accurate description about what he knew
and meets every question the asked about it. Check out the interview if you
can get a copy, it is really good. Also I have a short question, when and
which PPV did the Undertaker HBK Hell in a Cell match take place. Thanks
Badd Blood in October 1997.

Hi, this is davey again. Here;s a question for u. KOTR was first
made to eveluate a superstar to a main eventer. Right? It has made
bret hart, Stone cold, triple h famous. But why billy gunn & viscera
( mabel) are kept down, though billy gunn storyline with the rock
doesn't go well.He deserve to be a maineventer.Ken shamrock another
one, I think he would have been a good main eventer if he is still
around today. If wwf doesn't intend to put billy gunn, viscera,
shamrock over as maineventer. Then why at the first place, wwf let
them win the kotr tournament?
I hate how everyone and their grandmother throws around the term "main eventer" so loosely. First off, King Of The Ring wasn't invented with that sole purpose. It's been around as an annual tournament since the mid 80's, and it was first made into a PPV to make money. It did not make Bret Hart famous. When Bret won it, he'd already been a WWF Champion and headlined a Wrestlemania. It did not make Triple H famous. DX did. And his wars with the Rock in 1998, followed by his subsequent heel turn the next year did far more for him than that tourney ever did. And yes, it did provide the springboard for Austin's famous catchphrase back in 1996, but he would've gotten over eventually anyway. Vince did intend on making something out of Billy Gunn and Mabel when they won their crowns, but due to lack of fanfare, talent, etc., it never panned out.

My girlfriend is not a huge fan of the wrestling. One thing that bothers her
is how many of the wrestlers (i.e., HHH and Rhyno) look like they just came
out of the shower with wet hair when they come out for their match. Is there
a reason for this or is it just something that is?
I've actually heard Triple H answer that question in an interview before, and his response was something along the lines of he has long hair and when he wrestles it gets sticky and gets in his eyes and mouth, so he wets it so it doesn't bother him as much. I think he threw the word "numbnuts" in there too, but I can't be sure.

What Happened to Earl Hepner that was a near death experience in 98
He had an aneurysm.
From: Allermann
Actually, there is an origin to the phrase. I dont remember all the details, but it goes something like this.... at KOTR '93, Bret Hart was being interviewed after his win. Lawler came over and started harrassing him. Something about "being the only real king in the WWF." Bret hart said "The only king you'll ever be is the Burger King." Then Lawler attacked the whole Hart Family pretty much (even Stu, who looked like he was ready to keel over at any minute, even then.) These details arent exactly 100% correct, but i got the jist of it.
That wasn't the origin of it. The fans had long gotten on the King for being the "Burger King" long before that. Bret was just using the phrase to play to the crowd and acknowledge their chants.

Hey Mailbag crew! Keep up the good work. In the last mailbag someone asked
where the Hardyz get their ring wear. The pants they wear are a brand
called kikwear. You can get it at Hot Topic, and maybe Gadzooks. The shirts
they wear are sometimes from Hot Topic too. For anyone who's interested
that's where Lita gets her ring wear too.
Hot Topic, eh?

Rajah crew,
First off, props on an awesome website. Thanks for
all the hard work. Second, I just wanted to comment
on the Kurt Angle medal question in the mail bag. I
don't know if you've ever addressed this or not, but I
actually met him and know the story. When the WWF was
in Atlanta last, he came on the morning show in
Atlanta, and since I work at the FOX affiliate here, I
was able to go in and he was actually there an hour
before his interview and we talked for the whole hour.
For the record, a hell of a nice guy and was very
open about answering all my questions about the behind
the scenes type stuff (which stars ran the back, Sean
Michaels type stuff). Anyway, he started out bringing
the medals with him until a hotel stop somewhere where
somebody stole his bag from his room which had the
medals in there. He went out to the lobby and
announced to the lobby that the medals were in a bag
that was stolen. He won't press charges or beg for
the bag, but he really wanted his medals and if that
person could bring them he'd appreciate it ... etc.
Well he said a kid came up a couple minutes later with
it and said here I found these around the corner. So
Kurt, obviously expecting this to be the person took
them from him and started walking away and the kid got
pissed becaus Angle didn't say thank you. Like Angle
was going to thank the person that he figured stole
his medals. Either way, you couldn't blame him. So,
since then he keeps the medals home and has the fakes.
Anyway, if you've never heard the story, there it is.
Thanks again for the great site.
And thank you for the cool story.
