| rajah.com Mailbag -By Kayfabe and Rajah |
Alright, I have re-opened the Mailbag section with the help of two individuals, Kayfabe and Grandpa. Hopefully, it will work out better this time, as the above individuals will handle the great BULK of the emails.
Here are the steps to take if you like your question answered in the Mailbag section:
1. Please check to see that your question(s) have not been answered on any other sections of the page. Take great note of the FAQ Part I and FAQ Part II as well as the mailbag archives at the bottom of the page. .
2. Send a legibly written question or comment to mailbag@rajah.com. Please limit yourself to only one question per person per email. This allows us to update the mailbag more frequently.
3. ALL email sent there may potentially be included in the Mailbag. If you do not want your response posted, do NOT send it there!
4. If a name is included, I will post it along with the email. If you do not want your name published, do NOT write it!
5. Remember, it is impossible that every email I receive get posted on this page. Only the best and most popular questions/comments will likely make it on.
6. Also remember, that questions will be answered by either Kayfabe or Rajah, so any personal remarks should be addressed accordingly. The following color scheme will be used:Rajah - GREEN
Kayfabe - YELLOW
MTR - PURPLE

Hey guys,
Like most male wrestling fans I think Lita is hot - Though, Stephanie and
Molly are ten times hotter! But something about Lita has always bothered
me, and this goes back to her days with Essa Rios. But, for the life of me,
I couldn't figure out what it was that bothered me about her, and then the
other day it hit me: LITA'S A HEEL! Let me explain:
1) She interferes in matches BEFORE the established heel valets do,
and usually gains her guys a win in doing so;
2) Her actions have caused The Hardys to win titles more times than
I'd like to count; and
3) She makes fun of other wrestlers, to their face mind you, for no
reason other than the fact that she's mean. (ie Kanyon and his lisp)
Now I know she gets pops, but are those for her or her boobs?
Think about it. Ten, fifteen years ago she would have been booed out of the
building along with "Scary" Shari, but now... well, now it's totally
different. So, despite her appeal as a face, is Lita a heel?
She's certainly a babyface. It's just that in the last several years, faces have been able to get away more and more. They no longer behave traditionally like they once did, but it doesn't change their role. The rules have been changed, but it's still the same game. The Rock's character is a perfect example of this. Back in 1999 when he was one half of The Rock 'N Sock Connection with the lovable Mankind, Rocky's character acted like a total dick towards Mick. But he still got popped as a babyface like crazy just because he was so popular, despite his heel actions.

Hey Rajah,
I was watchin the 96 survivor series which was the first wwf event
i saw since getting cable tv. Anyway, I saw this guy called the stalker who
wrestled with marc mero an rocky miavia. I was wondering who he was as i
never saw him again? Also, back in 1997 when goldust split with marlena and
she disappeared for a year. What happened to her? Did she have a baby or
something?
The Stalker was a short-lived gimmick Barry Windham did when he came over to the WWF from WCW in 1996. It was horrible, so the gimmick was ditched, and Windham soon became one half of the New Blackjacks. That was an equally stupid idea, but in a much less emphatic manner.

hey guys love the sight....
i just had one quick question.....What wrestler either in wwf or wcw
used to tap or rub his nose when he came down the aisle...he did this as a
way to say hello to his kids watching at home. It would be a big help if you
could remember which wrestler did this.
Hmmm. almost sounds like someone's digging for trivia answers. Nah, couldn't be. Well, I think you're referring to Rikishi, though I've gotta say he ripped off that whole concept from retired NBA guard Jeff Hornacek, who surely ripped it off from someone before him. Oh well, it's still a cool gesture.

Hey Rajah, etc...
I have to say, I get a kick out of your mailbag every week, some of these
people ask really braindead questions, like is RVD related to Jean Claude,
and the one about how can the Hollys all be cousins? Those crack me up.
Anyway, my question is do you think that the WWF only gave Kurt Angle the
title because of what happened on 9/11/01, or do you think it was in their
plans all along? I seriously doubt that because the WWF doesnt usually hype
a feud like that for 3 months, all for a 15 day reign. I really wish Kurt
was still the champ, I am so sick of a heel champ, and thats all weve had
for the past year excluding the rocks 35 day reign and Angles 15 day
reign.
I think the events of Septmeber 11th may have had a little to do with the decision to put the Title on Angle, but I can't be sure. The way that feud was built up, starting with Austin's cop-out at Summerslam, combined with the fact that Unforgiven was in Angle's hometown of Pittsburgh, I think they were definitely considering giving him the Title. Perhaps the events of the eleventh merely reinforced their notion that it was the right thing to do.

Ok I'll skip the brown nosing and go straight to my question (Hurahh)!
What the hell did Helms do to deserve that role/angle as "The Hurricane"? I
mean ye it's a cool role/angle but come on!! And who made that tron vid :D
lol! Wussup wit dat?
Well, the WWF was having trouble finding identities for a lot of the Alliance guys, many of whom their fanbase was unfamiliar with, but that problem no longer exists with Shane Helms. Everyone knows him now as the Hurricane. Like the gimmick or not, it's creatinly made a new solid midcarder out of an Alliance wrestler. Apparently the whole thing evolved when Helms mentioned the Green Lantern on a memorable "tribute" to Stone Cold Steve Austin back on Austin Appreciation Night, which I believe was the night after Summerslam. Helms has long been a comic book enthuiast, as is one of the main WWF writers, so the two of them along with Vince McMahon, came up with the gimmick.

I was just wondering if you believe that personal finances play much of
a role in heal turns. For example now that Austin has turned heal, how much
will it effect his "bottom line" with merchandising sales and if that will
determine how long he remains a heal?
That's an interesting question to ponder. All the storylines go through Vince, and he's always looking out for what he thinks is best for his product as a whole and certainly his own bottom line. So if he felt it was in the company's best interest to keep Austin as a heel for two years, for example, I'm sure that's what would happen, even though his merchandise sales might slip as a result. Triple H has gone on record as stating that he prefers being a heel and didn't want to turn face last year when the opportunity provided itself. So either he doesn't care about the extra money he might make, or he doesn't think it would make a substantial difference. And he may be right. After all, Triple H shirts still sell like crazy even though he's a heel, and I'm sure Austin merchandise is doing quite fine too.

Do you think that it would make perfect sense that the reformation of
the New World Order would take place at feburarys PPV No Way Out? get it?
That would be cute, but the WWF usually doesn't go for stuff like that.

I am starting to see why my ?'s never get posted with answers. I forgot
about the sucking up part, and the begging part so here we go,
I LOVE RAJAH AND PETE AND MTR YOU GUYS RULE rajah.com IS THE BEST
WRESTLING SITE EVER PLEASE PLEASE POST THIS. I LOVE YOU GUYS.
Now thats overwith time for my questions about the 2000 royal rumble.
The first match was Kurt Angle vs. Mystery Opponent, who turned out to be
Tazz. Well thats just fine but during Kurt Angle's interview the crowd
started a very obvious "We Want Tazz" chant. I didn't know it was Tazz. Am
I just stupid or was it that I didn't know about rajah.com at the time?
Was the thing that happened with Mae Young planned, or did she get carried
away?
If you were on the internet back then, it wasn't much of a secret that the mystery opponent was likely to be Tazz. Combine this with the fact that New York City and MSG tend to be not only the most vocal, but also the most diehard and knowledgeable fans around, and consider that the northeast is ECW country and there were likely a ton of Tazz/ECW fans in attendance that night, and that's why a good chunk of the crowd was anticipating Tazz's debut. As for Mae Young, it was completely scripted.

Hi
I was wondering the wwf writers thoughts and idea's around having Jack
Tunny/Gorilla/Roddy Piper/ as the "President" I know they were just
characters and nothing in the real offices, but I've watch WWF since
wrestlemainia 4 unlike these people that jump on the band wagon since
wrestling has been "cool" to watch and there always was a president form
80's to mid 90's with Vince just simply an announcer(which by the way I
think is a good toss-up between whose better Vince or JR) Then suddenly he
just said oh by the way I own the wwf so I'm going to run it on cam now.
What was the deal with all that????
PS Love the site
Eh, don't compare Vince to JR in the play by play announcing category. Vince is the head honcho so he has his own agenda and knows exactly what he wants to get across to the viewers for his own sake, but when it comes to calling a match JR is far superior. The deal with Vince turning into the on air boss was the opportunity to make millions of dollars doing a feud with Steve Austin.

Hey Rajah, a good number of years ago, there was a guy by the name of
Ludic Borga in the WWF, just wondering the reason behind him leaving and
where is he now ?
Thanks
He hurt his ankle and the WWF let him go in early 1994. Now he's a boxer in his native Finland.

hey.
the site is great. i have a question and its
pretty dumb. if Billy Gunn is almost undefeated at all
House Shows, Metal/Jakked, and Heat, why doesn't he
get some t.v. time on Raw and Smackdown. He's a great
wrestler and he is being completley wasted. he could
easily be a contender for the European (just to get it
away from the Hurricane being that i think his gimmick
has gotten old, fast!) or even the Intercontinental or
U.S. titles. Or maybe give him a good tag team
partner. whenever he comes out he gets a good reaction
(even though i know you guys all hate him over
there!). He's a former tag team (8), hardcore (2),
and Intercontinental champion. Oh yeah, he also won
the 1999 King Of The Ring. They should give him back
his Bad Ass (Not Mr. Ass, that was the heel version in
my opinion)gimmick or just push "The One". I just want
to see him on t.v. again anyday over guys like Kanyon,
Spike Dudley, Hugh Morris, Matt Hardy, Shawn Stasiak,
and Albert. Those guys get so much time and they all
suck! I don't want to see Gunn with the WWF title or
anything, just with a t.v. gimmick is all i'm asking.
What do you think?
There's not enough TV time to go around to everyone on the roster and Billy Gunn simply hasn't made the cut. As for the people you listed, Hugh Morrus hasn't exactly been getting a ton of TV time, and Matt Hardy, Kanyon, and Spike are simply more over and better in the ring than Billy is. Stasiak is basically Billy Gunn but with a comedy gimmick. I'm sure he'll be back on TV sometime, but right now there's nowhere for him to squeak in.

Dear Rajah & Co., I was just wondering what happened to the WCW
Hardcore, Television, and Cruiserweight Tag Team titles. Are they gone
forever? I know both the Hardcore and Television titles were vacant when the
WWF bought WCW and Billy Kidman & Rey Misterio Jr. were tag champs. So will
the WWF ever revive them? I think WCW could use a few more titles when it's
on it's own.
Well I'd assume the Hardcore one is. The WWF has enough trouble with their own Hardcore Title. There's no reason to bring in another one. The TV Title would just be a waste as well, as would the Cruiserweight Tag Team Titles. There are already way too many Titles floating around to keep track of. It wouldn't be wise to complicate matters. As far as WCW being on its own, that's still not close to happening, and there are a lot of far more important things that have to be determined regarding that decision.

The wwf has stopped publishing the books that were annuals, which were
usually sold as programs at live events, as well as the wwf Spotlight
magazine (i believe the last one was in 1996 or 7 with sycho sid), but
replaced them with such magazines with different names, like the
biographical
magzines on stone cold, the rock, and the hardy's, and the annuals, which
recap the years of wrestlemanias and summerslams usually come out at
wrestlemania with that wrestlemanias name on the cover.
Thanks for the info.

The usual opening remarks, great site, best on the net, yadda yadda
yadda. Anyway, in your last mailbag you mentioned that the Rock, or as I
like to call him the Crock, wore a shirt for a time to cover up the surgery
he had on his pecs. My friend was telling me about this before I became a
regular reader of this or any other site, so I never heard a rumor, that the
surgery was because of a roid related problem. Does this have any truth to
it. I appreciate all the help. Keep up the good work.
No, it was just to remove some fatty tissue. Nothing to do with steroids.

Hi Great site by the way etc etc. I'm sure u have answered this question
loads
of times, but i can't find an answer anywhere. What happenned to Ahmed
Johnsen in the end. I know he got fired, but i was never sure what the
reason was-something like refusing to put another wrestler over or was it
something completley different. Please tell me
He had a bad reputation for working too stiffly and not taking care of his opponents. Then he started to have injury problems, and by that point the WWF just cut their losses and let him go, even though he still had the potential to be really over with the crowd.

Hi Rajah & Co.!
One big question: do you think that Kurt Angle will get his medals back (the
ones Stone Cold dumped in a Detroit river) or do you think that this matter
has been resolved once and for all?
I think they're gone forever. I mean you saw them; they're in a river now.
I can't resist: Muwahahaha.
