The earliest Royal Rumble event that you have listed was dated 1989. I recall a Royal Rumble, (or at least that is what I think it was called. It had the same rules and it was a WWF event), that was aired on the channel we now know is FOX. In NY it was called FOX, Channel 5. This was before the PPV phenonmenon came about. I was wondering if you have any recollection of this event and if so do you know what the matches were? At time I really wasn't into wrestling but my parents were. Thanks. Keep up the excellent work!!!!!

Yeah, you're right. The first Royal Rumble actually took place in 1988, but it was not on PPV so neither the WWF or our site counts it as an official PPV event. As for information about the event, it was held in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and had only four matches, one of which was a dark match. In the dark match, Ricky Steamboat defeated Rick Rude. The other three matches were a women's tag team title match and a tag team title match as well as the 20-man over-the-top battle royal which Hacksaw Jim Duggan won.

I was wondering about that one RAW when Bret Hart just lost a cage match and he "snapped" and went on a huge cussing spree. Was that supposed to happen or did he really snap? I wouldnt think the WWF would let him get away with that.

Yeah, I remember it. The match was against Sycho Sid and Undertaker had helped Sid win the WWF title. Bret lost the match and went on his famous tirade after that. The whole thing was worked and was used as furthering his heel turn because he was scheduled to face the WWF's newest "good guy" Steve Austin at Wrestlemania. So yes, it was supposed to happen.

Hey, Rajah, Keyfabe and last but not least MTR!

I have a question that's kinda related to wrestling. I always wondered this but did not know whom to ask.

Here goes, how do sites like yours or wwf.com or yahoo.com for example, basically not sites with like angelfire or whatever, updates their sites? I don't want like passwords or anything like but like generalities like where do they go and such?

I don't know about wwf.com or yahoo.com, but I update my site straight into a plain text editor like notepad, stick in all the HTML coding and what not and then connect to my server and upload it straight there. As soon as it's uploaded, it automatically updates on the site. We don't have an online editor if that is what you mean.

hey, my name's Isabel Hughes and I live in Ireland. I'm 13 yrs old, and I was just wonering, if you know, I have noticed that whenever I'm on a message board, quite alot of people, after their comment, they have a pictue, or link, or something, but I can't seem to get my picture on it.

I've tried to paste it and copy it from windows explorer, onto the message board, but I cant, it wont work!!!

Could you please help me???? and tell me what to do?

Basically, you need to find a server to upload your pic to. It is impossible for you to link straight into your hard drive and have people be able to see it. Instead, you have to put it on a third party server (a website) and then link straight to the URL the image is on.

I read online that Trish Stratus is not well liked by some wrestlers because they find her fake. Have you met her and if so, were their reasons founded or are some of the people jealous or does she just rub people the wrong way?

I don't think that is necessarily true. I have never met Stratus, but I'm pretty sure when she first broke into the business, she was probably not well liked because some wrestlers felt that she got success handed to her. She came in with no wrestling experience, while other superstars spend years in the developmentals trying to make it big. For that reason alone, it's likely that some of her co-workers disliked her. I remember a year or so ago, Chyna appeared on Off the Record (a Canadian sports talk show) and didn't seem to really like Trish saying that she didn't pay her dues and what not. However, to put a more positive spin on this, I'd say that now she is probably pretty well respected backstage just because of the incredible effort and determination she has shown to learn the tricks of the business.

i had a question regarding val venis and godfather, have they been on the lower rated tv shows like jakked an metal or out of the picture all together, are either injured? i know that there isn't alot of tv time to go around but venis is a pretty decent wrestler and a former ic champ

They're still under contract but have been assigned to Heartland Wrestling Association in Cincinnati. Due to the current lack of TV time and storylines to go around, the WWF felt it would be better to send them down there so they could stay in ring shape as well as offer their expertise to the youngsters who are training there.

Hey guys, still the damn "best there is, was, and ever will be", wrestling website on the net. This question regards the late great Owen Hart. Do you guys think he was ever pushed or going to be pushed to actually be the WWF Heavyweight Champion? Anyways, keep up the good work and ViVa rajah.com!!!!!

That's tough to say. Even though there were definite plans to push him as an Intercontinental title, it is perhaps doubtful that he would have been pushed all the way to the superstar level, just because there were many guys ahead of him in line and with the politics of the WWF the way they are, he probably never would have been able to get over that last bump. Personally, I thought that Owen should or could have been champ at least twice in his career, once in 1996 when he was feuding with Shawn Michaels and the other a year or so later when he was feuding with Steve Austin. He never seemed to come out of those storylines any better than he went in and his last chance I think was when Bret left the WWF and Owen seemed destined to feud with Shawn Michaels. Instead, he drifted "down" to Triple H, who continually got the better of him and from there, Owen was forever billed as the perennial midcarder. Also, I honestly don't think Shawn Michaels or even Austin for that matter would have ever agreed to drop the WWF title to Owen so that stacked the deck against him even more.

In the latest mailbag you gusy did you said that a title has never changed hands on Jakked/Metal. Of course that is insanely incorrect. Essa Rios took the title off of Gillberg last year on an episode of Jakked/Metal. Just for your information. ANd Gillberg was never heard from again.

Even though this wasn't originally my question, since Pete isn't here, I'll step in and try to defend him. The title change you are referring to did not occur on Jakked/Metal. It occured in 2000 on Sunday Night Heat. So as far as we can remember, a title still has not changed hands on Jakked/Metal.

With all the roster cuts, I was worried that one of my fave wrestlers, Bull Buchanan, had been axed. I was relieved however to find him in the XWF, which I think is a feeder league for the WWF. Is this a correct assumption and will we see Bull back in the WWF before long? I know he's still relatively fresh to the WWF (about 18 months) but for his size, he is so agile and technical it would just seem like a waste of such original talent.

You're about 50% correct. Yes, Bull Buchanan is still with the WWF, but he does not wrestle for XWF. XWF is the new startup promotion that is for all intents and purposes the nation's #2 promotion. It is supposed to be the WWF's competition. Buchanan is currently at OVW, one of the WWF's developmental leagues situated in Louisville. If rumors are to be believed, Bull is doing an outstanding job down there and continues to impress officials. We may see him as early as January 2002 when WWFE splits their roster into two. I would suspect that they will need all the big name talent they can get at that point.

What do you think the chances of The Warrior and Hogan making a final return in the WWF? I think they deserve great endings to great careers.

There are so many awesome possibilities in store for them. Such as...

Hogan could reform NWO with Hall, Nash, and Steiner.

And Warrior could form a team that includes Booker T., Chris Benoit, and possibly the Rock. (Warrior has stated he specifically likes these guys)

Or Imagine Hogan and Austin vs. Warrior and Rock!

P.S. What happened to Warrior returning in Australia back a while ago?

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for either man to show up in the WWF. Hogan is the more likely of the two and even that is a longshot to happen. Warrior and Hogan are just too old at this point and would almost surely negatively impact the lockerroom because both guys would demand to be at the top of the roster. With the WWF currently stacked as it is and facing growing criticism that they need to introduce new main eventers instead of recycling old ones, I doubt they would be interested to shell out a couple million to bring them on. Besides, Warrior left the WWF on not-so-good terms and now that he owns a virtual monolopy of the wrestling industry, Vince probably wouldn't take him back unless he took a massive paycut and would be willing to job to the younger guys. And that isn't gonna happen.

Someone in the last mailbag asked if the reason The Rock wore the shirt when wrestling for a period was because he was taking roids. But Fabe said it was because he had some fatty tissue that needed removing. What it actually was is that a side effect from taking in steroids is growing fatty tissue around the breast area-they grow breasts. Rock didn't have this when he started his carrer and he is a lot bigger now than when he started in the WWF. So it looks as though he did take Steroids unless he was secretley a woman and had his breasts removed. Hmmm. Nah can't have been.

Also I was just wondering what the purpose of opening the new wwf office in London is?

Hmm, I dunno about that. See what I heard is that people of Samoan descent (Rock's mother is Samoan) tend to put on a lot of weight/fatty tissue around their mid-section and the Rock started experiencing those symptoms too. You can see such statures in Yokozuna, Rikishi, Afa, etc. Since the WWF was pushing the Rock, they probably felt it would have a negative effect on his career if he started to gain weight so they did the surgery before it was too late.

The purpose of the London office is that the WWF is hoping to increase their international tours in 2002 and London is expected to be the head office for their international affairs.

Dear all, In mailbag no. 43 there was a question asking if a title had ever changed hands on Jakked or Metal. I may vey well be wrong, but in late 1999 when Metal and Jakked were launched didn't D'Lo Brown pin the British Bulldog to win the european belt?

I don't recall D'Lo ever pinning British Bulldog for the Euro title, but I do remember it being the other way around (Bulldog over D'Lo). In the latter case, it happened on a Smackdown!.

This is the number one wrestling site on the net. Period. But I believe you made a mistake in answering one of the questions in your last mailbag. The question was: Just for trivial purposes, but has a title ever switched hands on Jakked or Metal? You said "Nope". I may be mistaken, but I believe in one of Christian's first matches he won the WWF Light-Heavyweight Championship on Metal (It may have been called Shotgun back then). I believe he won it off of Taka Michinoku but I'm not sure.

Wow, this seems to be a popular topic today. This particular match certainly did not occur on Jakked. It actually took place on a PPV (Judgment Day in the fall of 98) and I know that because I clearly remember Christian's first WWF match being a title win on a PPV.

What ever happened to referees Dave Hebner and Joey Morella? Years ago when Hogan and the WWF came to Detroit, these two were always referreeing those matches. Where are they now?

Dave Hebner is still with the WWF and is a senior backstage official. I don't know his exact position, but sometimes he pops up on TV in a suit. Joey Marella unfortunately passed away several years ago as a result of a car accident. He was really young, probably in his early 30s or something.

Hi everyone! Do you think it's possible that Ric Flair had a World Title reign guaranteed in his contract when he signed his contract recently with the WWF?

Probably not. Everyone in the WWF always insists that there are no such things as having a title reign guaranteed and I guess it makes sense cause you never know what will happen.

What I'd like to know is what that catchprase by The Milliondollar Man was "What you gonna do when the" then I can't remember the next bit. Also I've been a wrestling fan on and off for 15 years now and I can honestly say that no one has ever entertained me more than The Rock. Though I am a Stone Cold fan as well I really don't know how people can think that the "What" catchprase is funny. It just irratates me. Even though I don't like Triple H I thing his "I am that damn good" Catchphrase is quality.

I think you're confusing DiBiase's catchphrase with Hogan's. DiBiase's was "Everybody's got a price for the Million Dollar Man" followed by some laughing. Hogan's was "What you gonna do when the 24-inch pythons run wild on you".
