This is a response to how Jerry Lawler got the name King from Mailbag #47.
Jerry Jarrett, the father of Jeff Jarrett, ran a wrestling promotion in Memphis, and started calling Lawler "The King of Memphis." It stuck with him ever since. Truly the king, he wrestled superstars such as the Funks, Briscos, Jackie Fargo, Hogan, Hansome Jimmy Valiant, Buddy Landel, Dusty Rhodes, Andre the Giant, Rick Flair and many more during a career spanning
over 3 decades. He was one of the best heels of all time cutting many memorable promos. For more history on the "King" and wrestling in the mid-south, visit http://pages.prodigy.com/starlink/mppwstor.htm. Great
site!!

Thanks for the info. I should have just asked the Memphis-wrestling email list I am on and I am sure they would have let me know as well. The King is sure a legend in Memphis and is currently working with a group to get wrestling going strong down there again after the WWF quit using Memphis as part of their farm system.

Hey guys!
Could you tell me what happened to Viscera?I haven't seen him in a long time.
At one point there was nothing for him on tv so they sent him to Memphis which was still part of the farm system. He helped K Krush(K Kwik)defeat Lawler for the Southern Heavyweight Title and played buddy with him. Eventually they released him when there was just no place for him. I have not really heard anything on him since he was released a long time ago.

Hey MTR, don't listen to all these wannabes who think you suck. After mailing 7-8 times over the last 2 years to this site(and never seeing an answer, you answered my mailbag question in 3 days. You're good at what you do and shouldn't be critisized by a bucnh of 12 year-olds who want you job. I can't believe the kind of questions they've been asking. Didn't they read the FAQ part like they hve been warned to do sothey won't act stupid. Anyways, I just wanted to let u know I have a few more questions about one of my favorite talents Mr. Elix Skipper. I'd also like to know if Elix Skipper ever wrestled on WWF TV. If so, did he look good in the ring? I also wanted to know why the WWF released him. Was it because of a talent issue or did the WWF buy too many contracts from WCW then they could accomodate?
He never wrestled on WWF tv unfortunately. He worked in HWA with a bunch of other WCW talent. Basically they lightened their load at one point and they cut him. That does not mean he may not find his way to the WWF one day. But for now he is stuck working the indy scene.

Hi Raj, MTR, Kayfabe and every1 else. You said that you pick the best questions to put on the site so here is one that you will not be able to say no to. So brace yourself for one of the all-time mailbag classics:
You have a bowl of chili, a sledge hammer, a book of poetry compiled by the WWF superstars (what? They had a freakin cookbook didn't they?) and Linda Mcmahon. What are your plans for this evening? I probally just ditch 'em all and go visit your site!
thanx alot,
Brandon
PS: MTR RULES WOOOOO
I think what you said makes sense. Just ditch them all and play on the site and the forums.

Owen Hart's Death
First of all i like to say that i am not a long
wrestling fan so here it goes...
I know most people knew what happened, but im getting
so many different answers about what happened. Like in
The Rock Says book, he said something like it was on a
pay per view when he and HHH talking about their match
that night and then he heard about the incident and
then he ran over to that Gorilla curtain (that's what
he said it called) where Vince is standing and not
willing to go cause people think its real or something
like that. But in Mankind's first book he said that it
was happened when they were setting everything up and
gtting ready for the show. So my question is what
exactly happened and when??? Please reply. Thanks
First off Foley did not say it happened during the set up in his book. I am reading it and past that part not that long ago. Anyway here is what happened to the best of my knowledge.
Owen was going to be lowered from the rafters to the ring in the Blue Blazer gimmick. Something went terribly wrong and he fell from the ceiling to the ring and did not survive. This happened while they were showing a taped interview on the tron and tv. The King raced to his side and EMTs raced to the ring and did all they could. The match was scrapped and the show went on and later on the announced he did not survive.
