hey aree.its steven wright again. i just finished reading the 60th mailbag and i was just wanting to thank you.you answered a lot of questions for me and cleared a lot up. you were right on the nail when you guessed that jeff was my favorite wrestler.(kind of obvious though huh?)i have one more question though.........a question about the other hardy.....matt, the reports say that he is done with being a cruserwieght.is this true.kind of a stupid letter and question but since you answered my other questions i thought i would ask another hardy-related question.
frequent jeff writer,
Steven Wright
p.s. mayby you should rename the mailbag "stevens jeff hardy mailbag".or at least just the section that i write about jeff could be named "stevens jeff hardy question section".just a thought see ya.
Oh, Steven. The chances of that happening are so extremely, vastly, incredibly, amazingly, hugely, massively and strategically remote as to be located on the far side of the universe. This is your last entry in the mailbag for a considerable length of time. But I'm a good sport so I'll answer your question about Matt. The WWE are just trying to move Matt around a little by saying that he's no longer a cruiserweight. He'll continue to compete in both divisions as the WWE see fit. At the moment he seems destined for a short program with Zach Gowen.

Yes, this is Steven's little brother. I dropped this in the mailbag for comic relief. Enjoy! And consider this the last Wright Family Mailbag Contribution for at least the next three months. I can hear the moans of disppointment now...

can i just say that if there is one thing that pisses me off more than anything on raw's sd's and ppv's, its when fans in the front wave to the camera cause their on tv rather than support the guys in the ring by cheering. Please!, the best events are like wm x-8 when people get off their asses and cheer.
Good call. I went to a Smackdown taping recently in Columbus, Ohio. I spent the whole time watching the ring and not myself on TV. Consequently I had a great time, but I have no idea if I was on TV. I don't think I was, but I guess I'll never know.

"I don't have many detaiIs, but maybe someone will know what I'm talking about and can answer my question. This is how I remember it: Years back, around the mid-90's, on Raw is War, Jerry Lawler was in the back, for some reason. Maybe he was doing an interview, I don't know. As Raw was supposed to be cutting to a commercial break, the cameraman set the camera down in front of Lawler, but it kept rolling. I remember, because of this, the audience ended up hearing comments made by Lawler that weren't meant to be heard. After about a minute or two, I guess the technical crew realized the camera was still rolling, and immediately cut the feed and went to commercials. When Raw came back from commercial break, Lawler broke out of character, and made a public apology to the audience. What was Lawler saying that the audience wasn't supposed to hear?"
This was in reference to a backstage segment that happened during the Undertaker Kane angle where they were claiming that Paul Bearer had had an affair with Undertaker and Kane's mother and that Kane was actually Paul Bearer's son. The interview was with Lawler and Bearer in the dressing room, and in the interview, Bearer denied the whole situation or something to that effect (I don't remember exactly). But then they pretended to have the camera man finish, set the camera down and leave the room. Lawler and Bearer then joked around about Bearer messing around with the Undertaker's mother. I'm sure the whole thing, including the apology was staged. Hope that helped.
Aree, will you marry me?
That depends...can we get married at the drive thru wedding chapel in Vegas? You could knock me out and sign the marriage certificate for me. That's always been my dream. Thank you to you and the other 50 people who sent in the same explanation. Consider the matter concluded.

Hey guys, how are you all doing? I hope I get Aree to reply to this (no offence to the others) but she does make me laugh with her replies to some letters and I see it as a challenge to see if I can get her to answer a question without any sarcastic comments. I'm from Britain (Doh! Failed already methinks) and am truly fed up with all the 'old school' names coming back into the WWE. The only one I agree with is Piper coming in to help push Sean O'Haire (fair play to him for helping others and not himself. Yes that was a dig at HHH), and I believe that there is an abundance of high quality names already in there that deserve tv time more than the likes of Hogan/Mr America and Sable. They are too old, have no use anymore and are washed up. Yep, I called Hulk Hogan washed up!! Time to let go all you Hogan fans out there. Take in the new breed like Benoit, Edge, Matt Hardy, John Cena and even A-Train. They are good solid wrestlers and they offer a lot more than any of the OAP's do. Anyway, I'm sorry I knmow that wasn't a question but I had to have a small rant before my question. Here it is. What is your opinion on maybe bringing back Paul Bearer as manager for Kane? He (Kane) seems in limbo at the moment and I think a change is very much needed to turn him into more of an intimidating character like he used to be.
Sarcastic? Me? I think maybe you have the wrong Aree. Don't feel bad, it happens all the time. There's some Evil Aree out there doing and saying evil things. I'm Adorable Aree and I'm all sweetness and light. Really. Uh-huh. Yep. I disagree with you about the "old school names" returning to the WWE. I enjoy seeing all the old superstars from the late eighties and early nineties, but I don't think that Vince should try and turn these returning superstars into long term angles. The WWE product won't grow and develop if they invest all of their time and resources into pushing guys who are past their prime and neglecting the up and coming guys who are the future of the product. As for Paul Bearer, why are people so interested in seeing him return? Sure he was fine as a manager back in the 90's but there was nothing particularly special about him that would warrant another go around in 2003. Kane doesn't need a Manager to speak for him. Indeed, Percy would just get in the way of Kane's new character.
Scanning for sarcasm...and it's clean! Yay me.

Hey guys. Wonderful site you have. Anyway, I wanted to help you out on a previous mailbag question that was asked. One guy wanted to know about the theme song to the Rock vs. Hogan match for Wrestlemaina 18. Well, with some research I found that WM18 had two themes. The one this guy was asking for is a song called Superstar by Saliva off a LP called Every Six Seconds. There was another done for WM18 called Tear Away by Drowning Pool off their Sinner LP. I believe that both bands performed their respected songs live at WM18. I hope this helps.
Thanks Jason. That's exactly what I like - someone who will do my job for me.

Hey Aree. Keep up the good work on the site and bag, I've been reading stuff here for years. But please try to keep the moron fringe population down (i:e Steven Wright and his retard Jeff Hardy questions)....Must we ALL share your pain?
Damn straight. If I have to suffer, you have to suffer. You should consider yourself fortunate that I don't subject you to all the "moron fringe population" emails I receive. On second thought, what's your email address? I'll forward them all to you...

Hello, Aree. I am a long time visitor to your site, and have written to the Mailbag before. I usually find it informative and entertaining (except for a most recent instance where some "Steven Wright" Jeff Hardy idiot mark kept asking practically the same damn question repeatedly). Ugh. I REALLY could have done without that crap. I see why you sometimes get a little venomous answering these posts....
I'm "venomous"? Someone also said I was "sarcastic" in this mailbag too. Not to be rude or anything, but I think you all have the wrong girl. I'm sweet and shy and I speak softly, I like icecream, long walks and I pour tea in the late afternoon. Well, okay, that's not all completely true. I keep the idiot factor down to a minimum, but some things are just too hard to resist even for a saint like me.

Hey I thought I would send my experience with a WWE superstar. Back in November 2001 I was at the Albany, NY airport goin to basic training for the Army and the night before the WWE was at the Pepsi Arena. I was walkin around cause I had an hour or two to load the plane when I saw a small but very jacked guy with a hat on but with his head down. I looked at him and it was Perry Saturn. He had a vest on and had millions of tattoos on his arms. I followed him until he sat down and was watchin his portable dvd player. I came up to him and handed him a paper and pencil and he signed it Perry Saturn then under his name wrote WWF. He was nice but never said anything, I wish he said "Your Welcome" cause that was his angle at the time. That was the first time I ever met a wrestler and I was happy to meet him before I left for basic.
Thanks for the story. I wonder if he would have said "You're welcome" if you had said "thank you".
From: Robert
hi my name is robert and i want to know if chyna will ever come back to the wwe cuz she was wicked cool
Never say never. Vince McMahon has shown time and time again that he will re-hire talent in a nanno-second if he thinks it will enhance the wrestling product. In Chyna's case, it's a difficult call. She would probably be open to returning, purely because she has stated on numerous occasions that she still loves wrestling, however she'd also be returning to see her ex-boyfriend marry the boss' daughter. Even if you're completely over someone, that would be uncomfortable and a little strange. However I'm sure Chyna is enough of a professional to move on from that. So my answer to your question is yeah, I think given the right circumstances and with agreement between Chyna and the WWE on terms, payment and character development that sure, the Ninth Wonder of the World could make a comeback.

Do you think that if the WWE tried doing Smackdown! live, it would get better ratings? I personally think it would, because many people that I talk to just read the spoilers, instead of tuning in. I mean, why watch a 2 hour show when you can read a spoiler in 10 minutes and tune into any parts that you want to see in particular. What is your opinion on the subject.
Brandon is severely over-estimating the power of spoilers. This is a fairly common question but before you think about agreeing with this point of view remember the following:
1. Only about 20 - 30% (and that's a very generous percentage) of wrestling fans are into the "internet wrestling scene". Only about 10% (once again, very generous percentage) are heavily into reading stuff on the internet and are likely to read spoilers. I've worked at this site for over three years now. I write a column, I choose columnists, I write the mailbag and I've NEVER read spoilers. I'm just not interested.
2. Reading spoilers is not like watching wrestling. That's like saying "I never bother watching the basketball game because I can read about the results in the paper tomorrow." It's not about the results - it's about watching and enjoying the product.
3. Making Smackdown "live" wouldn't increase ratings any. With the percentages I've estimated it would barely make a ripple in the big ol' ratings pool.

Mick Foley book signing- Leeds, UK 2nd July
Yesterday I went to Borders bookshop in Leeds to see Mick Foley and get a signed copy of 'Tietam Brown' as part of his UK tour. Mick was scheduled to start signing books at 7pm and I started queuing at 4.15 after buying a copy of the book. I was about 50th in the queue, apparently some people had been there since about 2pm. Mick arrived in a Mercedes just before 6pm, wearing a Bad Blood t-shirt, and went to the upstairs part of the store, presumably to sign the pre-order copies and do some interviews. He seemed very relaxed and acknowledged the crowd, who were not quite as lively as I would have imagined. About 7.15, Mick's theme music played over the loudspeaker system and Mick said its great to be right here in Leeds (cheap pop!). He then told us only half-jokingly that parents should seriously consider whether they should let their young children read the book as he doesn't wants to be responsible for them becoming emotionally scarred. He then said he didn't like the music being played (Foley's theme) so they put on Billy Gunn's theme for some reason?! I got to meet Mick at about 7.45, he posed while I had my picture taken with him, luckily I had brought a disposable camera with me. He signed Tietam Brown and his other two books that I had brought with me and dedicated them personally. He commented that I had the full set of his books. I asked him if he was going to wrestle at Summerslam and he said that he's not unless someone makes him an offer he can't refuse. I told him that I had heard a rumour that he was going to face Triple H at Summerslam, Mick said that he had heard that rumour too, but he doesn't know where it came from. Finally, I shook hands with Mick and left the store, it was definitely worth the 3 ½ hour wait, even though I had to put up with some markish fans who were wondering if Triple H was going to run in and put Mick through a table. Mick seemed like a genuine nice guy and people were queuing half way down the street to get the chance to meet the hardcore legend.
Thanks. I'm sure none of us are surprised that Mick Foley is a good guy in "real life".

Is it just me or almost all Canadians on the men's roster of RAW heels?
No, it's an ugly secret but it's time it came out - all Canadian men are heels. The WWE is just taking those natural male Canadian instincts and making the most of them. Actually for some reason a lot of Canadian wrestlers end up as heels, with the major exception of the legendary Bret Hart who was a face for the majority of his career in the WWF.

Ok, this is the first time i have wrote to a wwe fansite. I have so many questions but i will limit them. Is there any plans to publish more monthly magazines? I would love them to create a Smackdown Mag seen as though they have a Raw, especially with this whole split brand nonsense. Next question.....do you think Goldberg should transfer to Smackdown, he is by far my fave superstar and obviously he isn't sitting well with Raw, plus Raw has got too many top players like HHH, Rock, Austin, HBK etc. Is there anyway i can become a Rajah mailbag helper, i am a huge WWE fans and have many opinions and love to discuss things happening within WWE. PLEASE HELP !
As far as I know, the WWE don't have any plans to extend their monthly magazine market. WWF Magazine covers stuff from the mark point of view, Raw Magazine gives a little more in-depth and less markish perspective and then they have their "special" editions which are on Diva's or a particular superstar. That's really enough. Wrestling magazines don't make a whole hell of a lot of money anyway. Case in point the number of wrestling magazines that have shut up shop and gone broke in the last couple of years. No, I think Goldberg should stay put on Raw and work out angles with HHH, Austin, Vince McMahon, Jericho and anyone else who wants a shot at the "beast". I've said it before and I'll say it again - sooner or later the WWE are going to start doing Raw and Smackdown roster changes. Maybe not soon, but eventually they'll do it and hopefully open up whole new storyline doors. But first the should use what they have and play out all the angles they can with the current roster set up. Thank you for the offer of mailbag help, but we seem to be doing fine at the moment. Even if I am "sarcastic" and "venemous"... Come on people, it would surely be worse if I was "bland" and "uninteresting".

Hey. I haven't been watching the WWE's product lately, but I'm still a loyal reader of the site, so I happened across Aree's statement concerning peoples' personal stories involving Superstars in the most recent mailbag. Some friends and I attended a WWF houseshow a few years back, while Bob Backlund happened to be travelling with them, promoting his run for.. uh, well, I think it was a Congressman. Not quite sure. Anyways, I shelled out the 10 [or 15] dollar campaign "donation" he was taking in exchange for an autographed Backlund tee [how -could- I resist], and he stood up to shake my hand. Well, my friend suddenly yelled out, "Put him in the crossface chickenwing!" which the former champ proceeded to do. Despite his promise that it wouldn't hurt, well, hell, it did. Later in the show, inbetween matches, Howard Finkel was promoting Backlund being there, and when he was talking about the shirt you'd receive for donating, he pointed to me and my shirt out in the crowd. It was an exciting experience, let
me tell you. Right, so, now that I've dorked out beyond redemption..
Of course, you guys do an amazing job, and I hope y'all keep it up for a long time to come. Oh, and I'll leave you with this; if a former WWF champ agrees to apply his finishing move to you, and tells you that it won't hurt a bit, don't believe him. Especially if he played the part of the heel before.
Good call Brian. If a wrestler ever offers to perform their finishing move on me I'll be sure to say "no thanks".
