Aree, Some questions and comments for you... 1) In Mailbag #62 you commented on the roster split having nothing more than a "storyline" purpose. I thought that the rosters were split because of financial reasons? Didn't Linda McMahon have a press conference about this a while back? Could have sworn that I read that somewhere. 2) Now, for some thoughts... Aree, I've been watching professional wrestling for over 20 years. I thought that I knew more than most people about the "sport". Not to kiss any butt (but everyone needs it every once in a while), but you have truly impressed me with your endless wrestling knowledge. Now, I always read the mailbag. Some of the questions that are submitted are as ridiculous as asking you a question from the memorable movie 'Stand By Me', which is "Who would win in a fight? Superman or Mighty Mouse?" Everyone must understand that opinions should be left in the minds of the wrestling viewers, and our unanswered questions are some of the things that keep professional wrestling exciting. Wrestling has always been built on suspense, and people are taking it away by asking you questions about who would win in their own personal 'dream matches.' In my opinion, everyone should try to question you on your endless wrestling knowledge. But, I must admit, your explanations of your personal opinion are hilarious. What do you think? (God, she's gonna wreck me for this one...) 3) Everyone is asking for the birth of DX. In my opinion, the WWE HAS brought back DX. 'Evolution' has been the 2003 replacement for DX. Just like how Kane's mask became a bit annoying and dead-ended since 1998, I wonder if everyone isn't actually asking for 'Degeneration X' to come back, but just another fun and effective stable that relates to the audience. I understand that DX's gimmick was extremely effective back in the day, but times change. Right now, Evolution can't TOUCH the prime of DX, but it's a good start. Aree, what do you think about the use of true stables in the WWE? Do you think that they would be as effective at this time and age as they were in the 90's? 4) To the jerk off who asked for footage of Owen Hart's death: Owen has been my favorite wrestler since he began his feud with Bret Hart. He was one of the most memorable, well-liked, skilled, and talented wrestlers to ever grace a wrestling ring. If you are asking for footage of his death, then you are a sick and twisted human being that gets his/her jollies off by watching tragedy in the making. But, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt... if you want the footage of the last on-screen memory of Owen Hart, then you're looking for the wrong piece of footage. You should be looking on eBay for the Raw episode that aired the night AFTER Over the Edge. It contained all of the memories that you'll ever need of Owen Hart, plus a whole lot more. Aree, PLEASE agree with me on this one...
If I take all my "endless wrestling knowledge" and a quarter, I could get a xerox of a cup of coffee.
1) Linda McMahon may have said that the roster split was for financial reasons, and for all I know that might have been part of the reason. However, don't think that just because Linda McMahon says something that it is the truth. She's as much a part of the storyline machine as everyone else. Even if she's telling the truth, "financial reasons" covers a multitude of sins.
2) I don't mind answering the questions and commenting on comments. I don't particularly enjoy "fantasy matchups", which is why almost none of them make it into the mailbag. I know you weren't asking but if Superman and Mighty Mouse were in a fight, I think the rodent would kick Superman's super ass.
3) I like stables, but I was bought up with them - from the Four Horseman to the Million Dollar Corporation, to the Nation of Domination, DX, The Corporation, The Hart Family, The Ministry, The Union to Evolution. My only beef with stables is that the WWF tended to go overboard on them. It was like all or nothing - either every wrestler was in some kind of stable leading to something similar to the NWO Black and White and NWO Red and Black Wolfpac mess in WCW or there are no stables. I think given the right set up and avoidance of the going overboard principle that yeah, stables could make a nice little comeback sometime in the near future.
4) I agree and I should have thought of it myself - hunt up the Owen Hart tribute episode of Raw or some old WWE PPV's where Owen wrestled some amazing matches and you'll get a much better idea of Owen Hart's talent, and exactly what he meant to his co-workers and the fans.

the wwe sight is selling DX t shirts again. I dont know if it means anything but i just wanted to let you know
ps great site
Yeah, it means they turned up some old stock and are trying to get rid of it at "sale" prices. Actually, that reminds me - I've yet to order my Shawn Michaels t-shirt. They have a HBK women's tee now and I've waited my whole life for that to happen. Now all I need is a t-shirt that reads "Triple H Does Not Make All the Decisions in the WWE so Quit Bugging Me About It".

Hi. Very nice site. I love all of your work. You do a great job. I have 1 quick question. Do you know why the WWF back in 1999 decided to stop having the In Your House name on their PPV's anymore. I believe the last IYH was St. Valentine's Day Massacre was the last. But anyways thanks a lot.
"In Your House" was a very cute concept that the WWF hammered into the ground. Vince McMahon would growl out "Thank you for having us IN YOUR HOUSE!" at least six or seven times per PPV in the old days. The concept got old and the WWF were running out of original names. When you're starting to call your PPV's "In Your House: Beware of Dog" you know you've got problems. You're correct in stating that the last IYH was the 1999 St Valentine's Day Massacre. After that, the WWE decided to name all 12 PPV's and keep the same names. I suppose it helps with marketability - some people always buy Summerslam, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble andWrestlemania so if the WWF could build "Backlash" or "Judgement Day" or "Armageddon" to a name and memory dynasty, maybe people would always buy that PPV too. I don't know that it worked, but it wasn't a bad idea.

Hey Rajah and company. Brutally Awsome website... OK i just have one querry. Why don't you guys update the ppv flashbacks anymore? If it is because of not having a video you can go on ebay.com and find it for probably $10.
Access to the tapes is not the problem, it's finding someone with access to the tapes who can write well AND have the time to put the flashbacks together. One guy actually sent an email to Rajah and I that said "Send me the tapes and I'll write the flashbacks". Nice try, bud. Maybe one of us will find time one day to update the section. Until then, it remains in mothballs.
Stay tuned because we will HOPEFULLY be relaunching the WWE PPV Flashbacks section in the near future. The old reviews were done by Pete after I bought him almost the entire WWE PPV library but he doesn't have the time to do them anymore and he doesn't feel like sending them to anyone who does. Oh well.

Why does Triple H does always seem to get one of the biggest pops even though he is a heel? PS Great Site !
Because he is just that damn good. Actually, that's an interesting question. Love him or hate him, before his recent bout with injuries Triple H has always been hard working competitor and has consistently performed at a top notch level purely for the enjoyment of the fans. His character is established to the point where people know and recognise him. Also, quite frequently people are so overwhelmed at live events that they'd cheer for practically anyone. It's actually a lot harder to get consistently booed than it is to get consistently cheered. Think about it.

Hi. I Love your site. It's awesome
I have 2 questions. 1st I know I've seen questions asked about Scott Hall coming back. BUt I was thinking that if he came back, he should come back as Razor Ramon. He was awesome as Razor. I just haven't liked him the same as just Scott Hall.
Scott Hall isn't coming back, except maybe as Vince McMahon's golf caddie at the Greenwich Country Club. That ship has well and truly left the station.

I wanna know why wrestlers as HHH and Y2J and many others are always chewing gum? Is it for the look or what?
I don't know. I always thought they just liked it. There are some people who are always chewing gum, just like there are some people who absolutely adore sugar cookies.

First of all, great site. I have it bookmarked so I visit often.
Secondly, "Eric" posed a question re titles. I know that Austin has his "Smoking Skull" belt at home with him and I know Mick Foley was given the Hardcore Title framedand he either has it at home or it sits at Titan Towers with all the other old belts. I know the old WCW belt was made for Ric Flair and Triple H now wears a belt eerily similar to it now. I believe that Flair has the Original belt either at home or in a vault somewhere.(On a personal note, I held the belt once while working on the road with WCW. If I can find my old pic of it i'll send it.)
BTW, my favourite belt is the old U.S. Heavyweight title created by Jim Crockett for the NWA before he sold out to Turner. It looked like the United States. If anyone who reads the mailbag has a pic of it, please let me know. Less Steven Wright, more Aree Jones. If I could vote for Governor of California, I'd vote for Rajah. I couldn't be the Man if I tried, so I'm just Chuck.
Don't feel bad Chuck, I couldn't be "the man" if I tried either. I just don't have the necessary equipment. Thanks for the information. I don't believe Triple H is wearing the original WCW belt. I'm more inclined to believe that the belt the wrestlers carry around is the same knock-off belt for show purposes. They probably have one at home as well, if they so desire.
From: An Insulted Kiss Fan
I don't care whether you put this in the mailbag or not. In the last mailbag you insulted the fans of the great rock band KISS. Just because your taste in music differs from us KISS fans doesn't mean you have to insult it. Maybe you should spend more time thinking about what you saying next time.
Some people are so easy to piss off. I just slipped the insult towards KISS fans in there to see if anyone was paying attention and sure enough, you jerk the chain hard enough and someone is bound to try and bite you. I'm actually quite fond of KISS myself. What can I say? I like to stir up trouble every now and then. It keeps life interesting.

I just read that one of the potential matches at Survivor Series could be Undertaker vs. Vince McMahon in a "Buried Alive" match. This led me to wonder, if Undertaker loses to Vince, is it possible that Vince McMahon is setting up a return for the "Dead Man" Undertaker?
You never know. However, I seem to recall Steve Austin and Mick Foley having a Buried Alive match some years ago and neither of them turned into a walking ghoul. It's a gimmick match that they WWE like to bring out every now and then, especially when one of the participants has a dark side eg. Kane, Mankind, Undertaker but it doesn't necessarily have to lead to a move to the Deadman and in fact, probably won't. RIP Deadman.

Is there going to be another edition of WWE Anthology? If yes, when is it coming out?
It took the WWE 20 years to come up with enough songs to create an "anthology" so I doubt they'll be releasing another one soon. However, they will probably release another CD along the lines of the "WWE The Music" series sometime in the next year or so. They'll have new and updated remixed themes - anything to get fans to spend, spend, spend.
